The Doors Guitarist Robby Krieger Announces Memoir Set the Night on Fire

The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger has announced his first-ever memoir. It’s called Set the Night on Fire: Living, Dying, and Playing Guitar with The Doors and it’s due out October 12th via Little, Brown and Company. The Doors need no introduction, and in a perfect world neither would Krieger. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1993, has been hailed by Rolling Stone as one of the greatest guitarists of all time, and is still collaborating with artists like Miley Cyrus and Alice in Chains to this day. And yet, Krieger is notoriously tight-lipped and shy when it comes to discussing his noteworthy career — which makes this memoir all the more exciting. Over roughly 320 pages with some help from writer Jeff Alulis, the legendary musician has finally opened up about The Doors...

Korn Tap Suicidal Tendencies Bassist Ra Diaz to Fill in for Fieldy on 2021 US Summer Tour

Jackass Star Bitten Trying to Literally Jump the Shark During Shark Week Stunt

The cast members of Jackass made a name for themselves by throwing caution to the wind and taking part in dangerous (and oftentimes disgusting) pranks. It’s been decades since the first episode of their original MTV show debuted and they’re still happily putting themselves in harms way to entertain viewers — most recently, as part of a Shark Week segment on The Discovery Channel, by attempting to literally jump the shark and getting bitten in the process. On Sunday night, The Jackass Shark Week Special reunited Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, and Sean McInerney — AKA Poopies — with their new cast member Jasper, of Odd Future and Loiter Squad fame. It feels both shocking and completely logical that this band of giggly misfits would be hired to goof off for Discovery, especially du...

Kyle Massey, who played Cory Baxter in Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven and Corey in the House, has a warrant out for his arrest after missing a court date. Last month, the former child star was charged with a felony for communication with a minor for immoral purposes. He had been scheduled to appear for arraignment the morning of July 12th, after previously missing his arraignment in late June. Following this second no-show, as TMZ and Cox Media Group have reported, a judge in King County, Washington, has issued a $100,000 warrant for his arrest. The 29-year-old actor first found himself in legal trouble in 2019, when the alleged victim in this case sued him for $1.5 million. According to the lawsuit, Massey sent “numerous sexually explicit text mes...

Stagecoach 2022: Brandi Carlile, Black Crowes, Margo Price, Yola, Maren Morris to Perform

Though it’s probably at least five months until Coachella reveals its lineup, its sister festival, Stagecoach, unveiled its bill and it’s pretty great. Brandi Carlile, Black Crowes, Margo Price, Yola, Maren Morris, Orville Peck and Hailey Whitters are among the non-headlining highlights, which is great from an alt-country perspective. As for the headliners, those will be a bit more mainstream with Thomas Rhett, Carrie Underwood and Luke Combs closing out each night. Per the Stagecoach norm, there are some great classic artists as well, mainly in the form of Tanya Tucker and the Mavericks. One of our favorites, the Grammy-nominated Ingrid Andress, will feature as well. There are a couple of curveballs, in particular the inclusion of Smokey Robinson on the bill. As for the food, Guy Fieri’s ...

The Day Disco Died: Remembering the Unbridled Chaos of “Disco Demolition Night”

On this day in 1979, a fun MLB promotional event quickly devolved into the most infamous and controversial event in disco history. In the late 70s, dance-oriented disco was one of the most popular musical genres in the United States. Seminal films such as Saturday Night Fever and Disco Godfather greatly influenced the music scene, while artists like the Bee Gees, ABBA, KC and the Sunshine Band, and Donna Summer became repeated record plays for many. While disco provided a fun, novel outlet and style of dress to many people, it sparked major backlash from fans of rock music. Critics at the time often feared that the rise of the disco would quickly lead to a decay in rock after disco albums dominated the 21st Grammy Awards in 1978. When Chicago’s WDAI-FM switched from rock to disc...

Mysterious Swedish House Mafia Poster in Melbourne Ignites Rumor Mill

Once again, Swedish House Mafia appear to have made a cryptic announcement and ignited rumors of a comeback.  Over the weekend, an eagle-eyed Reddit user spotted a poster with Swedish House Mafia’s iconic three-dot logo and a date reading “16 07 21.” If the advert is confirmed to be real (some commenters are skeptical), the mysterious message could signal new music from the iconic on-again, off-again EDM trio. It could, however, allude to an upcoming performance in Australia or a tour announcement. A mysterious Swedish House Mafia poster in Melbourne. UK Government Confirms July 19th Reopening Date—But 1 in 8 Nightclubs Have “Disappeared”

16 contentious months later, the UK government has confirmed its plan to lift lockdown measures on July 19th. But many questions about the return of nightclubs remain. According to Bloomberg, who cited data from CGA and Alix Partners’ Market Recovery Monitor, one in eight venues have “disappeared” since the onset of the pandemic—a ratio that is expected to worsen as COVID-19 cases surge. The clubs that remain face a dubious future as the number of coronavirus cases rises due to the delta variant. CNBC reports over 34,000 new cases were recorded in the UK on Monday, July 12th. In the wake of the UK government’s devastating delay on the lift of restrictions in June, the country’s clubbing scene—one of the world’s most historic nightlife sectors—was de...
