Vince Staples’ Self-Titled Album Is a Worthy Homecoming: Review
Vince Staples is home again — and while that home of Long Beach, California might look the same to him in a lot of ways, there’s no denying that the rapper is the one who’s changed. Vince Staples, the ten-track self-titled LP, is the artist’s fourth studio album and feels like more of an evolution than a departure from his earlier work. Remarkably slight at just over 20 minutes, Vince Staples swims in a world separate from 2017’s stylish, avant-garde Big Fish Theory or 2018’s bigger, feature-heavy FM!. Instead, the album is a bit of a slow burn, simmering and sitting in a lower, smoother groove than much of Staples’ discography to date. (Kenny Beats produced the entire album.) Strand of Oaks Announce New Album In Heaven, Share “Galacticana”: Stream
New music from Strand of Oaks is on the way. In Heaven, the upcoming album from Tim Showalter’s folk rock project, is out October 1st. As a preview, Showalter has shared the album’s breezy first single, “Galacticana,” as well as a slew of US tour dates for fall 2021. In Heaven marks the first Strand of Oaks album since Showalter’s recent relocation to Austin, Texas. It features collaborations with James Iha of the Smashing Pumpkins as well as members of My Morning Jacket. A New ‘Dead Space’ Game Might Be on Its Way
Dead Space fans will be delighted to learn that there might be a new title for the franchise in development. The rumors first surfaced from writer Jeff Grubb over at Venture Beat, who said during the outlet’s GamesBeat Decides podcast that Electronic Arts will be announcing the franchise’s revival during its Play Event scheduled for July 22. The news was then built upon by both Eurogamer and Gematsu, with Grubb also confirming those reports. He went on to claim that the new Dead Space title will be developed by EA’s Motive Studios and feature a full remake and reboot of the franchise, drawing inspiration from what CAPCOM did with Resident Evil 2. According to TMZ, Marilyn Manson turned himself in to police on two outstanding warrants for misdemeanor simple assault involving an alleged incident with a videographer at the Bank of New Hampshire Pavilion. The shock-rocker, whose real name is Brian Warner, turned himself in last Friday (July 2) on the warrant in Los Angeles. Manson then went through the Los Angeles Police Department‘s booking process before being released on personal recognizance bail. He has agreed to not commit any crimes while on release, not have any contact with the alleged victim, and to appear at all of his court hearings.
