Exodus Drummer Tom Hunting to Undergo Total Gastrectomy in Cancer Battle

Exodus drummer Tom Hunting will undergo a total gastrectomy amid his battle with stomach cancer. The band has launched an auction to help raise funds for his medical bills. Hunting began treatment for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the stomach less than five months ago. A total gastrectomy — the full removal of the stomach — is typically done if the cancer has spread widely in the stomach or toward the esophagus, according to Cancer.org. Hunting offered a touching update on his condition — stating his treatments are working — and the upcoming procedure in a post via bandmate Gary Holt’s Instagram page: “Hey Y’all, I wanted to check in and thank everyone SOOOOOO much for the love and support! Val Kilmer Documentary Pulls From 40 Years of Home Videos: Watch the Trailer

A new documentary on Val Kilmer, composed almost entirely of home videos from Kilmer’s personal archive, is set for release on August 6th through A24 in partnership with Amazon Studios. Entitled simply Val, the film is co-directed by Ting Poo and Leon Scott, and pulls from 800 hours of footage spanning more than 40 years. In piecing together the doc, Poo and Scott culled through everything from 16mm home movies Kilmer made with his brothers, to behind-the-scenes footage from the set of blockbusters like Top Gun, Tombstone, and Batman. As Kilmer has lost his ability to speak due to throat cancer, the footage is narrated by his son, Jack. “I’ve lived a magical life, and I’ve captured quite a bit of it. I was the first guy I know who owned a video camera. I have thousands of hours of vid...

Morrissey’s Top 10 Songs

This article originally ran in 2014 and has been updated. There is nothing subtle about the gaudy exhibitionist Morrissey. Granted, there’s nothing wrong with a standard compilation of his inspiring career either, one that spans more than a quarter of a century and demands a good few Moz-heads working tirelessly to create a “best of” list. However, a blindly-led throng of solo hits or big-tune A-side bangers is never going to give you the whole story. We’ve sweated, cried, and fought over a collection that will shine a light on 10 songs that aren’t always as their master would prefer them to be — in the spotlight. These are the songs that form a strong case for his continued existence, and ours. 10. “One Day Goodbye Will Be Farewell” Years of Refusal (2009) [embedded content...

Britney Spears’ Court-Appointed Attorneys Resign From Conservatorship Case

Hours after Britney Spears’ longtime manager, Larry Rudolph, announced his resignation, the singer’s court-appointed legal counsel is following suit. Samuel D. Ingham III and Loeb & Loeb “tendered their resignations” as Britney’s lawyers on Tuesday, according to court documents reviewed by The Hollywood Reporter. The news is hardly a surprise, as Britney expressed displeasure with her legal representation while testifying at her conservatorship hearing last month. In particular, Britney said Ingham had failed to inform her that she had the right to request the termination of her conservatorship. “My lawyer, Sam, has been very scared for me to go forward,” Britney told Judge Brenda Penny. “He told me I should keep it to myself.” Related Video What’s more, according to a report publ...

A Tribe Called Quest Confirms They Are Not Involved in NFT Royalties Auction

Ali Shaheed Muhammad and Q-Tip both confirmed that A Tribe Called Quest is not involved in the previously-announced NFT sale with Royalty Exchange. Writing a lengthy post explaining the situation, Ali revealed that the group did not partner with Royalty Exchange nor were aware that a part of their royalties was being auctioned off. He explained that he and Tip signed a five-album recording contract with Jive Records and were represented by Ron Skoler and Ed Chalpin, the latter of whom was the owner of PPX Enterprises. Chalpin and PPX supposedly secretly added a clause in the contract stating that they will receive a percentage of the group’s recording fund for every album the artists created, and ATCQ did not know about this until 1990 when they were about to record The Low End Theory. The...

Rauw Alejandro Secures First No. 1 on a Billboard Albums Chart

The Top Latin Albums chart ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week in the U.S. based on multimetric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each unit equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. Nearly all of Vice Versa’s starting sum is powered by streaming activity. The album registered 20,000 SEA units, which equals 29.1 million on-demand streams of the album’s tracks. Album sales and TEA units comprise less than 1,000 units combined. Vice Vers...

As Voting Opens for 2021 CMA Awards Nominations, Here Are the Races We’re Watching

The CMA has announced that it will allow Morgan Wallen, who is under a cloud because of his videotaped use of the N-word in January, to compete in categories in which there are other collaborators on the project, such as album of the year, but not in individual categories, such as male vocalist of the year. It will be interesting to see if CMA voters nominate Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album for album of the year. The blockbuster is in its 22nd week at No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Country Albums chart. Long-running No. 1 albums are usually nominated in this category. Of the 27 previous albums that have topped the country chart for 20 or more weeks, 20 have been nominated in this category. The most recent album to hit that mark before Wallen’s album, Luke Combs’ What You See Is What Y...

Youngster Victory Brinker Makes History on ‘AGT’: Watch

Brinker hit the operatic number “Juliet’s Waltz,” from Romeo et Juliette, complete with high notes. “I was not expecting that,” said Howie Mandel. “You’re angelic. I loved it.” Sofia Vergara chimed in, “You are a star. You have a powerful voice.” Cowell paid tribute to her performance and bravery, and in a nerve-shredding moment he called a meeting with his fellow judges and host Terry Crews. “We’re not going to give you a ‘yes’ today,” he explained. Instead, they all gave her something that had never been done before: a five-person Golden Buzzer. Earlier, Cowell asked Victory what would she do if she won the competition? “Buy Simon a rainbow shirt that has some glitter on it,” was her quirky response. “You need some color.” Simon had better make space in his wardrobe. Watch be...
