KnownOrigin, a metaverse-based NFT marketplace where creators can showcase and sell digital art, is powering the first virtual reality music and arts festival based on the Ethereum network. Watch ILLENIUM’s Full “Trilogy” Las Vegas Show, The Biggest of His Career

By all accounts, ILLENIUM wrapped the biggest show of his career thus far over the holiday weekend. The beloved electronic music producer provided Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium with a jam-packed night of three sets, which spanned nearly four hours and marked his longest concert by duration and largest by capacity.  ILLENIUM described the “Trilogy” experience as a sort of capstone project, sharing that he envisions his first three albums Ashes, Awake, and Ascend almost as though they are collectively a singular chapter of his career.  As the release of Fallen Embers—his upcoming fourth album—looms large, ILLENIUM felt this would be the perfect time to bring the comprehensive vision behind his discography together before the start of something new. T...

#FreeBritney: Dance Music Artists Weigh In On Britney Spears Conservatorship Battle

After the latest setback in Britney Spears‘ explosive conservatorship battle, the #FreeBritney movement has mutated into a full-blown crusade. With legions of supporters that seem to be growing by the second, the movement is unafraid of locking horns with a justice system they deem to be wicked. Their fervent support of Spears has remained resolute as she remains ensnared in a 13-year legal arrangement that has given her father, Jamie Spears, complete control of her life. In a 20-minute statement provided by Spears in late June to a probate judge in Los Angeles, the pop icon harangued the conservatorship, saying she wants to sue her family after being “abused” by a therapist, among other shocking allegations. Despite her pleas for help, the court ultimately denied her req...

During an appearance on the “Hardcore Humanism” podcast, EVANESCENCE singer Amy Lee reflected on the losses of two of her siblings, sister Bonnie and brother Robby. Bonnie died in 1987 at the age of three from an undisclosed illness, while Robby passed away in 2018 after struggling with severe epilepsy for most of his life. Speaking about her approach to understanding “darkness” and “light” in her life, Amy told podcast host Michael Friedman Ph.D. (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET): “I’ve been through some stuff in my life. I lost my sister when I was six, and then, in a completely different world, so many years later and in a totally different situation, I lost my brother, just in 2018. It’s like when the worst possible thing that yo...

Ex-GUNS N’ ROSES Guitarist GILBY CLARKE Says His Daughter Is ‘Carving Her Own Path’ As A Punk Rock Singer

In a new interview with U.K.’s TotalRock, former GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke spoke about his daughter Frankie Clarke who is following in his footsteps with her band FRANKIE AND THE STUDS. “She’s more on the punk rock side — she likes bands like GREEN DAY and PARAMORE and RANCID and the DISTILLERS; that’s kind of where she’s going,” Gilby said (as transcribed by BLABBERMOUTH.NET). “So it’s more on the pop-punk rock side. “I helped her record in the very beginning, but she’s carving her own path now, which I encourage,” he continued. “I tell her, ‘This is the good stuff. You have to get out there and meet people.’ It’s nice that you can talk to a few people and say, ‘Oh, my Dad is t...

Onward To Glory – DOMINATION CAMPAIGN

RATING: /10 If your day job tends to favor the more-is-more approach, days off are probably best spent taking it easy. Not that PSYCROPTIC frontman Jason Peppiatt has taken the foot of the accelerator for one second with DOMINATION CAMPAIGN, his new project and a(nother) collaboration with PSYCROPTIC guitarist Joe Haley, here playing drums. We are still firmly in death metal territory, but while the better-known Tasmanian extremists are renowned for their technical dexterity, complex arrangements and bewildering feats of brutal derring-do, DOMINATION CAMPAIN is proudly and unapologetically tethered to the old-school flagpole, with all the mid-tempo nastiness and simple, scything hooks that informed the genre’s early ’90s heyday. As an added bonus, this is a strictly war-obsesse...

Real Estate have announced a 2021 fall tour of the US. Taking place throughout the month of November, the trek comes in support of their recent Half a Human EP and — by the nature of 2020’s lack of tours — last year’s The Main Thing LP. In between, Real Estate will stop in Cleveland, Grand Rapids, Indianapolis, Louisville, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Madison, and other cities. “We’re back on tour and more excited to be playing LIVE than ever before!” the band said in a statement. “This stands to be one of the most joyful, memorable tours we’ll ever go on and you’re not going to want to miss it. Quentin Tarantino Buys Vista Theatre in Los Angeles

While the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated cinema’s movement towards streaming services, Quentin Tarantino is investing in the theatrical experience. Via The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning filmmaker has now purchased the historic Vista Theatre on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, California. “I bought the Vista on Sunset,” Tarantino announced on the Armchair Expert podcast with Dax Shepard and Monica Padman. “We’ll probably open it up around Christmas time.” This is the second venue acquired by Tarantino, after he picked up the New Beverly Cinema in 2007. That theater shows older 35mm and 16mm films, mostly plucked from Tarantino’s vast personal collection. Norwegian Company Creating Doomsday Vault to Preserve Music Recordings

Starting next spring, a Norweigian company will begin housing some of the world’s most important music recordings in a doomsday vault located between Norway and the North Pole. Oslo-based Elire Management Group recently spoke with Billboard about their grand ambitions to preserve recordings varying from pop acts like the Beatles to Australian indigenous music for at least 1,000 years. Named the Global Music Vault, it will share the same safeguards as the Arctic World Archive and the Global Seed Vault, two preexisting facilities located underground in the Svalbard archipelago. As the financer of the project, Elire is currently negotiating with the Norwegian company Piql to use their PiqlFilm format, based on binary coding and high-density QR codes written onto special durable optical film. ...

Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard Sang Sparks Songs While Simulating Oral Sex for Musical Annette

Instead of pre-recording the songs in Annette, director Leos Carax had the actors perform every musical number live on set. This led to Adam Driver singing Sparks songs while simulating oral sex on his co-star Marion Cotillard, which honestly sounds like quite a mouthful. Via Insider, Cotillard dove into the deep end in a press packet for Cannes Film Festival, where Annette opened the festival today, July 6th. “On most classic musicals, you record your songs in advance and then you do playback on the set,” she said. “But there, Leos wanted everything to be completely live.” Obviously, this didn’t make the actors’ jobs easier. “It added to the complexity of the set: we found ourselves singing in very complicated positions, doing back-crawling or mimicking cunni...
