Brazilian superstar Alok has unveiled his third single of the new year alongside multi-faceted UK sibling duo Everyone You Know. “Kids on Whizz” is actually a rework of the duo’s recent single “Charlie” and includes a sample from The Streets‘ “Weak Become Heroes.” The result is a perfect patchwork of quality productions wrapped into one.  Alok stays close in line to the original track but turns up the energy to make it his own. He incorporates his signature deep-driving basslines with EYK’s synth-laden production to get it ready for the dance floors. The alluring vocal performance fits perfectly into the updated styling.  “When we released ‘Charlie’ we never in a million years thought someone with as much wei...

SLONK Channels His Inner Blur on New Song “Colin”: Stream

Bristol-based indie rocker Joe Sherrin has been making music under the moniker SLONK for quite some time now, all while playing in other bands like Fenne Lily, Milo’s Planes, and Let’s Kill Janice. Today, he’s sharing a new song called “Colin” and it sees him changing gears from his typical sound to embrace the anthemic side of synth pop. “This song came about a few years ago at a temp job where I didn’t know (and still don’t) what I was actually doing there,” explained Sherrin in a statement. “I knew what type of thing I was supposed to be doing on the computer, but had no idea what it meant or what its purpose was. ‘Colin’ is about the idea staying there forever, told through the eyes of the characters who I worked there with.” As bleak as being trapped in a dead-end job may be, SLONK ma...

System of a Down’s John Dolmayan Says He’s Been ‘Blacklisted’ Due to Right-Wing Views, Rips Black Lives Matter

While his System of a Down bandmates have been out promoting their new music and discussing the future of the group, drummer John Dolmayan continues to spew right-wing rhetoric that seems to stray from the political band’s typical views. As a guest on the podcast Cancelled with Rob Rosen and Desma Simon (which invites people who have been “canceled” by society for one reason or another to tell their side of the story), Dolmayan doubled down on his controversial views after being a somewhat surprising voice of reason in the fallout of the insurrection at the Capitol earlier this month. According to Dolmayan, he and his various non-System creative projects have been “blacklisted” due to his political views. “I’ve already been a victim of this, and it’s no different and no bett...

It wasn’t just an ordinary evening stroll with her dog. Under a “wolf moon,” Hayley Williams snuck up to superfan Carly Butler’s Nashville home and slipped the unreleased song “My Limb” into her mailbox — and gave Butler permission to “leak” it. The gobsmacked fan of the Paramore singer tweeted, “Did Hayley Williams drive to your house and drop off a candle and a CD with her new song on it or are you having a normal night.” Williams chronicled the delivery on Instagram Stories video, joking that “Murder Postmates” was her new service. “Okay, we’re going to drop off a Sanctuary candle and a burnt copy of one of the songs to Carly in Nashville right now. I hope she doesn’t think I’m coming to murder her if she looks out her window at just the right time. Or I hope she does, I don’t know...
