If you’re just now getting turned on to the “Buss It” challenge, congratulations, you’re already late. The first dance challenge of 2021 to swarm TikTok is based on up-and-coming Texas rapper Erica Banks’ single of the same name and it requires dancers to appear torn down in their no make-up/sweats look before dropping it low and twerking in full outfit and makeup. It has gotten some pretty great takes from the likes of Monica, Rico Nasty and DaniLeigh. But when Chloe X Halle‘s Chloe Bailey dropped her take on Thursday (Jan. 21) everyone pretty much called it game over. Bailey, 22, opens her bid in a colorful shower cap and black robe with gold cuffs, doing the requisite peek back for the Nelly-sampling line “I think my butt gettin’ big....
In 2019, she released “Friends Go,” a ska-tinged throwback that brought Lindemann’s preference for a guitar-driven sound to the forefront. The track “opened this door to something new, and I started writing more pop-alternative-rock-leaning music,” she says. “Friends Go” gained even more attention once super-drummer Travis Barker joined a version of the track, an experience that Lindemann calls “surreal” — and which turned out to be transformative for her. “When Travis hopped on it, I got a real taste of what it would be like to do that,” she says of accessing her punk rock side. “I immediately loved it, and I never want to go back to what I was doing.” Emboldened by a co-sign from rock royalty, Lindemann steadily released singles throughout 2020, each one edgier than the last —...
U.D.O., the German metal band fronted by ex-ACCEPT singer Udo Dirkschneider, will release its fifth live album, “Live in Bulgaria 2020 – Pandemic Survival Show”, on March 19 via AFM Records. Last year forced many to face tough challenges, but U.D.O. managed to play a great show on September 18, 2020 under pandemic conditions in front of 2,500 fans at the Roman Amphitheatre in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, making it not only one of the world’s grandest shows under coronavirus, but also certainly beyond compare. This is exactly the feeling that the live recording captures. The mood and emotions captured on the live DVD can barely be put into words. It is the only concert that U.D.O. played in 2020 and is an impressive example of what, with a huge amount of effort and planning, c...
Adam Lambert has once again slammed Donald Trump, saying his presidency “was a disaster from day one.” The QUEEN singer and former “American Idol” runner-up discussed the real estate mogul during an appearance on “Good Morning Britain” before Joe Biden and Kamala Harris were sworn in as president and vice president, respectively, on Wednesday (January 20). Speaking about the job facing the Biden/Harris team, Lambert said: “It is a tall order. I think that [Biden] needs to heal the country as best he can. And Kamala Harris by his side, I think, is an amazing panel for them to move forward and try to fix what’s broken. Also, I feel like in many cases, anything is better than what we’ve experienced in the last four years [laughs], so ever ...
Legendary rock musician Ann Wilson has released a powerful new single. “Tender Heart” is available now at all DSPs and streaming services. “‘Tender Heart’ came out of a personal struggle,” says Wilson, “but quickly evolved into a greater, more universal meaning. We as the human race are coming to realize realities we never dreamed we’d have to face — environmentally, culturally, financially, and health-wise. Humanity is coming to terms with uncomfortable, heartbreaking, terrifying truths. This song is for the soul whose heart is blindsided by reality, but is still soft and innocent. I hope people will identify with this song and feel they are not alone.” Widely regarded as one of the greatest voices in the history of rock ‘n’...

The White Stripes shared a previously unreleased video of the band’s performance of “Seven Nation Army” from their legendary 2007 Bonnaroo set. The 90-minute-plus set closed out the festival’s Which Stage, making it one of Bonnaroo’s last sets for that year. Jack White and Meg White played 23 songs that night, with covers including Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” Burt Bacharach’s “I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself” and songs from Blind Willie Johnson and Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band. As for their own tunes, the set included versions of “Icky Thump,” “Hotel Yorba,” “Ball and Biscuit” and “Black Math.” In 2020, Bonnaroo did “Virtual Roo-ality,” a free three-day livestream that featured some of the band’s 2007 set. Check out the pair’s performance below. [embedded con...
Hank Aaron, the legendary baseball slugger who overtook Babe Ruth as baseball’s Home Run King, died on Friday at the age of 86. The Atlanta Braves outfielder, also known as Hammerin’ Hank, was a 25-time all-star, the 1957 National League MVP, a three-time Gold Glove winner and of course, a Hall of Famer. Aaron’s impact, however, was felt most off the field. The subject of racism and death threats as he closed in Ruth’s record, Aaron handled himself with class and grace and proved to be a role model for all Americans. His iconic 755 home runs would stand until 2007 when Barry Bonds surpass him. Aaron remains Major League Baseball’s all-time leader in RBIs. With so many musicians being baseball fans, the outpouring of tributes to Hammerin’ Hank poured in on Friday morning. “Hank Aaron, my ch...
No, it’s not some misunderstanding. Genesis have delayed the start of their The Last Domino? reunion tour with the message “We’re ready, but the world isn’t…yet!” The jaunt was originally supposed to kick off in November 2020 and then was moved to April 2021 due to the pandemic. It is now slated to launch at Dublin’s 3Arena on Sept. 15 and wrap up Oct. 13 after a three-night run at London’s 02 Arena. There are no U.S. dates announced yet. The band shared a nearly one-minute video from a rehearsal, which shows Phil Collins singing from a chair, with his son Nic, who has played with his dad for five years, on drums. The band – which includes founding members Tony Banks and Michael Rutherford — are performing “Behind The Lines” from their 1980 Duke album in the clip. Coll...

Amanda Shires has never been afraid to showcase her personal life, which has made both her and her husband Jason Isbell entertaining follows on social media. And she’s also outspoken about their politics and personal opinions. In the past few months, Shires has been especially vocal about women’s reproductive rights, particularly abortion rights. She’s never been shy to share her personal experiences with the issue — and she’s willing to write about it, even if it alienates some of her fans. “I’m privileged enough that what little of a career I have, I can’t really fuck it up,” Shires tells SPIN over the phone from her Tennessee home. “What was gonna happen? Less people are gonna come? Good. I didn’t want y’all there anyway.” Last November, Shires teamed with Isbel...
Rapper Soulja Boy is being sued for sexual assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress by a former assistant named in the complaint as Jane Doe. According to the complaint filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and obtained by SPIN, the rapper, born DeAndre Cortez Way, hired Jane Doe to be his personal assistant in December 2018. He agreed to pay Doe $500 per week to live and work at Way’s Malibu residence. Doe alleges that Way started sending her unsolicited photos of his penis less than a month after she started working for him. According to the suit, the pair began a romantic relationship shortly thereafter, but things took a dark turn after the relationship ended a month later. Doe claims that Way physically and sexually abused her, citing “numerous instances of physical viol...
