As California’s Riverside Country struggles to mitigate the region’s surge in COVID-19 infections, Goldenvoice has stepped up to offer some assistance. According to Palm Springs ABC affiliate station KESQ, Goldenvoice—the event promoter behind Coachella and Stagecoach—has offered to help create a mass vaccination site in the heart of Coachella Valley. The Department of Public Health in Riverside County currently has 22,000 vaccine doses on-hand to distribute. Talks between the state and Goldenvoice are ongoing. Given the company’s infrastructure and organizational expertise, Supervisor Manuel Perez suggested that Goldenvoice would be an ideal partner. “With the concerts and all the logistics in planning it that tak...
1001Tracklists‘ 2021 “A State of Dance Music” report showed that despite a year of limited show opportunities—and even fewer in-person festivals—the dance music scene remained resilient. The annual report shared arguably the most impressive statistic right out the gate. “In 2020, there were more sets and mixes added to 1001Tracklists than ever before, up a remarkable 30% from last year,” the report states. Of the total 53,000 sets added, 11,000 were live shows. The statistic validates the meteoric rise to prominence of the livestream event concept, an adaptation that kept artists connected with fans throughout the year. That narrative is certainly reflected in the report’s top tracklists of the year, which includes several livestreamed se...
Arguably one of the most iconic dance records of all-time, ATB’s “9 PM (Till I Come)” was released over 20 years ago via Kontor Records, helping to propel the German DJ and producer into international stardom. Fast-forward to 2021, when ATB has teamed up with Topic and A7S to release “Your Love (9PM),” a reimagined version of the platinum-selling trance classic. German/Croatian producer Topic and Swedish singer-songwriter A7S burst onto the crossover scene last year with their chart-topping dance track “Breaking Me,” teaming up once again in the summer of 2020 to deliver “Why Do You Lie To Me” with Lil Baby. The duo’s chemistry is undisputed, and their work on “Your Love (9PM)” is truly stellar. The original’s signature lead melody dominates the tune, supported by To...
Bow Wow and his fans are getting absolutely roasted on Twitter after footage leaked of the rapper performing for a large, mostly unmasked crowd at Houston’s Cle’ Club Friday night. The event was part of a larger celebration for club promoter Larry Morrow’s birthday, which also featured a performance from Meek Mill and promises sets from Fabolous and Trey Songz, among others, throughout the weekend. Though the event itself should be criticized for not following COVID-19 protocol while the virus continues to wreak havoc — especially in Houston, which saw 24,000 new cases on Friday alone — the Internet is taking aim at Bow Wow followers for risking their lives to see him perform. Actor Zach Braff even got in on the action, tweeting “I thought about it and have decided I’m not willing to die f...

Former GUNS N’ ROSES guitarist Gilby Clarke has clarified his previous comment that he was asked to take part in the band’s “Not In This Lifetime” tour but that he had to turn it down. Clarke replaced founding guitarist Izzy Stradlin in the GUNS lineup in 1991, during the “Use Your Illusion” tour, and stayed with the band for three years. After exiting GUNS N’ ROSES, Clarke continued as a producer and solo artist, while also playing in SLASH’S SNAKEPIT, ROCK STAR SUPERNOVA, HEART and other acts. Clarke addressed his non-participation in GUNS N’ ROSES‘ reunion tour, which features three-fifths of the group’s classic lineup — singer Axl Rose, guitarist Slash and bassist Duff McKagan — during a new interview with “The SDR...
A snippet of a brand new PAPA ROACH song called “Stand Up” can be heard in a newly one-minute commercial for Ultimate Fighting Championship‘s (UFC) partnership with ESPN. Check it out below. PAPA ROACH recently entered a studio in Southern California to begin recording the follow-up to 2019’s “Who Do You Trust?” album for a tentative mid-2021 release. Last September, PAPA ROACH singer Jacoby Shaddix told Shroom of the WEBN radio station about the band’s new music: “This stuff is fire. It feels so good to be back in and creating music with the guys. Especially ’cause we’re not on the road, it’s a good thing for us to do is to get together and live our purpose. Creating is, I believe, my life’s purpose — writing songs an...
Rachel Bolan has paid tribute to Sylvain Sylvain, one of the founding fathers of punk rock as guitarist of legendary band the NEW YORK DOLLS, who died on Wednesday, January 13 at the age of 69. He had battled cancer for two and a half years. On Friday (January 15), the SKID ROW bassist took to his Instagram to write: “This is a tough one. The first time I met Sylvain Sylvain was at the El Mocambo in Toronto in 87/88? We played to about 6 people. After the show the dressing room door opened and in walked Sylvain. I was dumbfounded. All I could think is that there was a New York fucking Doll in our dressing room. No one will ever believe me. “He was such a great guy. Funny, stylish, compassionate (like I said. 6 people). We started talking about songwriting and I expressed what a...
Live shows may temporarily be on pause, but they’ve hardly been forgotten. In fact, The War on Drugs recently released a live album titled LIVE DRUGS comprised of concert recordings from throughout their career. (The 10-track effort was reportedly “culled from over 40 hard drives,” so you can be sure the concert nostalgia was intense.) On Friday, The War on Drugs supported their new effort by playing “Arms Like Boulders” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The remote performance saw Adam Granduciel, David Hartley, Robbie Bennett, Charlie Hall, Anthony LaMarca all play along on guitar, while Jon Natchez handled a mandolin. Replay the performance down below. Editors’ Picks “Arms Like Boulders” originally appeared on The War on Drugs’ debut album, Wagonwheel Blues, as well as th...
Sheer Mag have shared “Crushed Velvet”, their first new music since 2019’s A Distant Call. The Philadelphia rockers’ latest singles comes from the soundtrack to Hulu’s new original film The Ultimate Playlist of Noise. Out now, the movie finds a teenager (Keean Johnson) traveling to New York City as he tries to experience as many unique sounds as possible before a tumor takes his hearing. That theme is perfect for Sheer Mag’s style, as “Crushed Velvet” trades on soaring guitar riffs, snarled vocals, and some growling background. It’s a smorgasbord of throwback rock sounds, and you can take a listen below. Editors’ Picks The Ultimate Playlist of Noise is streaming now on Hulu. You can sign up for free month of the streaming service here to watch the new movie now. Check out the trailer...
The War on Drugs remotely joined The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Friday night in honor of their recently-released live album, LIVE DRUGS. The band made an interesting song selection, going with “Arms Like Boulders” (the opening track off its 2008 debut album Wagonwheel Blues), which isn’t featured on the new album; however, the performance encapsulates the ethos of the 10-song collection and sees the six-piece configuring the track in a way we haven’t heard before: using nothing more than five guitars and one mandolin to help guide Adam Granduciel’s gritty voice. “As a bandleader, I always want to know where a song can go,” Granduciel said in a statement about LIVE DRUGS ahead of its release. “Even though we’ve recorded it, mastered it, put it out, and b...
We knew when Tiësto wiped his Instagram clean at the end of last year that big things were on the way. Lo and behold, the dance music legend has now announced that he will be coming out with a brand new mix series called “AFTR:HRS Sessions,” which will begin at the end of this month. The launch is a joint effort with the Musical Freedom team and from the looks of it, electronic music fans are in for a treat. This past summer AFTR:HRS began a rebrand, renewing the focus to a deeper sound of melodic house and techno. This shift included drops from Arpow, Drumstone, Space Motion, Spada, Leftwing : Kody, Tube & Berger, and Jose Amnesia, among others. The upcoming series will follow the groundwork put in place in 2020 and build on it with monthly sessions of 60-minute live...
