Sheer Mag have shared “Crushed Velvet”, their first new music since 2019’s A Distant Call. The Philadelphia rockers’ latest singles comes from the soundtrack to Hulu’s new original film The Ultimate Playlist of Noise. Out now, the movie finds a teenager (Keean Johnson) traveling to New York City as he tries to experience as many unique sounds as possible before a tumor takes his hearing. That theme is perfect for Sheer Mag’s style, as “Crushed Velvet” trades on soaring guitar riffs, snarled vocals, and some growling background. It’s a smorgasbord of throwback rock sounds, and you can take a listen below. Editors’ Picks The Ultimate Playlist of Noise is streaming now on Hulu. You can sign up for free month of the streaming service here to watch the new movie now. Check out the trailer...
The War on Drugs remotely joined The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Friday night in honor of their recently-released live album, LIVE DRUGS. The band made an interesting song selection, going with “Arms Like Boulders” (the opening track off its 2008 debut album Wagonwheel Blues), which isn’t featured on the new album; however, the performance encapsulates the ethos of the 10-song collection and sees the six-piece configuring the track in a way we haven’t heard before: using nothing more than five guitars and one mandolin to help guide Adam Granduciel’s gritty voice. “As a bandleader, I always want to know where a song can go,” Granduciel said in a statement about LIVE DRUGS ahead of its release. “Even though we’ve recorded it, mastered it, put it out, and b...
We knew when Tiësto wiped his Instagram clean at the end of last year that big things were on the way. Lo and behold, the dance music legend has now announced that he will be coming out with a brand new mix series called “AFTR:HRS Sessions,” which will begin at the end of this month. This shift included drops from Arpow, Drumstone, Space Motion, Spada, Leftwing : Kody, Tube & Berger, and Jose Amnesia, among others. The upcoming series will follow the groundwork put in place in 2020 and build on it with monthly sessions of 60-minute live...

Late last year, SLANDER further solidified their legacy with the announcement of their Heaven Sent imprint. To accompany the launch, the duo premiered their hotly anticipated song “Hurts Sometimes” with Fairlane and Jonathan Mendelsohn. Today, bass music prodigy Au5 makes his debut on Heaven Sent with “The Way To Infinity.” “The Way To Infinity” conjures feelings of nostalgia while simultaneously infusing the New Jersey producer’s signature sound. A slow-burning, dreamy intro paves the way for punchy kicks and soaring, reverberating synths. Au5’s ballad strays from the traditional future bass love song, as the masterfully programmed vocals add an effortlessly catchy layer atop a thrilling blend of heavy and melodic moments. A...
In September of last year, Steve Aoki announced his collab-driven EP 6OKI – Rave Royale. The first of six tracks from the record, “Tarantino,” featured Timmy Trumpet and an iconic guitar riff from Pulp Fiction. Today, Aoki and k?d have delivered a roaring new collaborative effort from the project called “BIB.” Aoki’s goal with his forthcoming 6OKI – Rave Royale EP was to make music that speaks to his roots, “songs that go off live and serve ravers in the front row.” “BIB” does just that, coming at listeners full force straight out of the gate. k?d’s signature vocaloid sample leads into aggressive synth stabs and sharp drums, which ultimately result in a high-octane hardstyle drop. If “B...
But of course, there was a crucial element that provided that extra bit of fuel in sending “Old Town Road” straight to the moon: a remix. Well, several remixes actually, but only one that permanently changed the song’s trajectory — a team-up with country icon Billy Ray Cyrus, which fleshed the song out structurally and paired Lil Nas X with the perfect co-star and foil. The song was already a runaway smash by the time of the remix, but no one would argue that the new version didn’t take it to another level. Could a remix like that be in store for “Drivers License”? It might not even need it — after all, it’s already making history on its own — but if it does end up getting one, we have some thoughts about the guest artists who cou...

And she’s one of the youngest artists to score a No. 1 song in the U.K. before their 18th birthday, at 17 years and 10 months old. Jawsh 685 joined the 18-and-under chart-toppers club in July when he scored a No. ...
