Tennessee Bill Calls for Dolly Parton Statue at State Capitol That Faces Grand Ole Opry

Americans are more divided than at any time since the Civil War, but one thing we can seemingly all agree on is Dolly Parton. Now, as Associated Press reports, a Tennessee lawmaker has introduced a bill that would erect a statue of the Nashville legend standing on the grounds of the Capital building and facing the Ryman Auditorium — more popularly known as the Grand Ole Opry House. Representative John Mark Windle, a Democrat, introduced the bill last Tuesday. It seeks to celebrate Parton “for all that she has contributed to this state.” Philanthropy is one of the most dominant chords in Parton’s legend. Just recently, her Imagination Library gave away its 150 millionth book, she saved a nine-year-old’s life after pulling her out of a car’s path, showed support for the Black Lives Matter mo...

Bandcamp Expands Its Vinyl Pressing Service to Accommodate 10,000 Indie Artists

Bandcamp made a lot of indie artists happy last year by raising $40 million for musicians during their monthly Bandcamp Fridays campaign. The music platform is keeping that momentum going in 2021 with the announcement of a new initiative that’s possibly even more appealing: they’re going to press vinyl runs for 10,000 different artists on their platform. Back in 2019, the company quietly rolled out the pilot program for an in-house vinyl pressing service. According to an announcement on their website, Bandcamp pressed and shipped 13,000 vinyl units for 50 different artists. In 2021, the Oakland-based music marketplace is ambitiously inviting 200x the amount of musicians to participate in the program. Given that only a small handful of vinyl pressing plants are tasked with manufac...

SEBASTIAN BACH Once Again Accuses CHRIS JERICHO Of ‘Miming To A Tape’, Says ‘Professional Wrestling Sucks’

Sebastian Bach has once again slammed Chris Jericho over allegations that the FOZZY frontman uses pre-recorded vocal tracks during live performances. The former SKID ROW vocalist initially accused Jericho of “miming to a tape” at FOZZY concerts in a social media post last July. In response, the wrestler-turned-rocker insisted that he had “never mimed anything ever” and challenged Bach to a “singoff” with “no effects, no tuning, no bullshit”, saying “Bas is a great singer…but I’m better”. Asked about his Internet feud with Jericho, Bach told The Aquarian Weekly in a new interview: “I have an open mind about everyone. If I read on Blabbermouth.com [sic] that some band says, ‘We’re the future of rock ...

In a new interview with New York’s Q104.3 radio station, former VAN HALEN members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony were asked if there any plans to organize a tribute show in honor of their longtime bandmate, VAN HALEN guitarist Eddie Van Halen, who died last October. Sammy responded (see video below): “It’s gotta happen. Of course it’s gonna happen. No one’s really connected all the dots with everyone involved, but I have been told, and I have read interviews with various people involved — with Wolfie [Eddie‘s son Wolfgang Van Halen] and Valerie [Bertinelli, Eddie‘s ex-wife] and Eddie‘s wife [Janie] that he was married to at the time — they all said as soon as this is over, we’re gonna get everybody together and do a tribute or whatever...

Sylvain Mizrahi, better known as Sylvain Sylvain, songwriter and founding member of the NEW YORK DOLLS, has died at the age of 69. The news of his passing was confirmed by former PATTI SMITH GROUP guitarist Lenny Kaye, who wrote: “Sylvain Sylvain, the heart and soul of the NEW YORK DOLLS, bearer of the Teenage News, passed into his next astral incarnation on Wednesday, January 13, 2021. “Syl loved rock and roll. His onstage joy, his radiant smile as he chopped at his guitar, revealed the sense of wonder he must have felt at the age of 10, emigrating from his native Cairo with his family in 1961, the ship pulling into New York Harbor and seeing the Statue of Liberty for the first time. “It was he who looked across Lexington Ave. and saw the sign for the New York Doll hospi...

Rep. Cori Bush Called Out White Supremacy On House Floor, Was Unjustly Booed

Source: Caroline Brehman / Getty During the hours-long debate in the U.S. House of Representatives regarding a successful second impeachment of President Donald Trump, both sides of the aisle made their stated points. However, freshman Congresswoman Cori Bush received boos after she called signaled Trump as a white supremacist and called out white supremacy overall. In a debate that was at times tense and most certainly filled with partisan talking points on either side of the aisle, Bush, who represents the 1st District in Missouri, used her time at the podium to call out the so-called insurrectionists and placed the blame at their de facto leader in Trump. “If we fail to remove a white supremacist president who incited a white supremacist insurrection, it’s communities like Missouri’s 1s...

As spotted on Hot New Hip Hop the Harlem native is now backtracking from a video she shared last week. In the cringe worthy clip she is seen digging up her dead cat. But to hear Slay-Z tell it she is prepping her former pet for a proper send off. On an Instagram story she rebuked everyone who thought she had fried feline on the mind. “Why do you think i would eat a dead cat, when I can barely eat a dead cow. It’s called taxidermy…. Plenty of hunters with...
