Legendary guitarist George Lynch (DOKKEN, LYNCH MOB) has launched a new project, THE BANISHMENT, in which he is joined by programmer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Joe Haze. Self-proclaimed as “dream punk,” THE BANISHMENT has premiered its debut single, “Lost Horizon”, and launched an Indiegogo campaign to assist with the funding for the recording and manufacturing of its self-titled debut album, scheduled for release in early 2021. The idea for THE BANISHMENT has been years in the making for Lynch to further push his creativity into darker, subliminal and chaotic territories. To accomplish this, he teamed up with Haze, who, in addition to being the live guitarist for LORDS OF ACID, is known in the industry for his work producing/co-producing, mixing and eng...

KREATOR To Release ‘Under The Guillotine: The Noise Records Anthology’ In February

KREATOR‘s “Under The Guillotine: The Noise Records Anthology” will be released on February 26, 2021 as a deluxe box set, 2CD and 2LP formats. The story of KREATOR‘s meteoric rise to the global elite of thrash metal bands from their humble beginnings in Essen, Germany, began under their first name of TORMENTOR in the early 1980s. It was their “Blitzkreig” and “End Of The World” demos changing hands in the era’s bustling underground tape-trading network that exposed them to the international metal community. Positive word of mouth soon attracted the attention of Germany’s own metal start-up Noise Records, which signed the newly re-christened KREATOR to a deal. KREATOR‘s tenure at the label spawned six studio albums and establi...

Phoebe Bridgers Unveils ‘Savior Complex’ Video Directed by Phoebe Waller-Bridge

After landing four Grammy nominations last week, including Best New Artist, Phoebe Bridgers has unveiled a music video for “Savior Complex,” which is off of Punisher. The black-and-white video was directed by Emmy winner Phoebe Waller-Bridge (bringing together two Phoebes with similar names at long last) and it stars Normal People actor Paul Mescal. The video sees Mescal stumble around what appears to be the middle of nowhere, conning people for his own benefit, and being followed by a cute dog. She will also be performing on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon on Dec. 2.  This video comes after the release of her Copycut Killer EP a few weeks ago, which features an alternative version of “Savior Complex,” among other Punisher tracks. There was also a...

Peter Dinklage to Mop Up Crime in The Toxic Avenger Reboot

Peter Dinklage is going from Avengers to The Toxic Avenger. The Eitri actor has been cast in the upcoming Toxic Avenger reboot from Legendary Pictures, according to Deadline. A modern update of the cult classic Troma production, The Toxic Avenger tells the tale of nebbish Melvin Ferd, a “98-pound weakling” who works as a health club janitor. Tormented by local bullies, he’s tossed from a window and lands in a barrel of nuclear waste. He emerges as the super-powered Toxic Avenger (think Swamp Thing meets Deadpool) who rises to defend his community from corruption. One of the most successful B-movies ever, the 1984 original spawned three sequels, an animated kid’s show, a Marvel comic book, and even a stage musical. Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, who directed the first film, are on ...

Top 50 Albums of 2020

As we return from Thanksgiving and head into December, our Annual Report will spend the next few weeks looking back upon the strange year that was 2020 and the music, film, and television that came with it. We begin today with our Top 50 Albums of 2020. You’ve heard it from me dozens of times already: 2020 has not been a normal year. And by that, I mean absolutely nothing has been normal. The music world hasn’t been immune, of course. I’ve spent more time cancelling flights and accommodations and trying to get tickets refunded than I actually did watching live music this year. Instragram became a concert venue, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions had no performances, and livestreams (which are pre-taped) seem to be the often-underwhelming future of live music at least for the forseea...

David Lee Roth Creates Morbid Artwork Referencing Sammy Hagar

The rivalry between erstwhile Van Halen singers David Lee Roth and Sammy Hagar has taken on a new art form … and a morbid one, at that. Diamond Dave has created a new piece of artwork that makes several references to the Red Rocker’s future passing and afterlife. Roth’s art piece comes just a few days after Hagar said he would have loved to take part in an all-inclusive Van Halen farewell tour featuring all three of the band’s singers (including Gary Cherone), despite a “not user friendly” DLR. The “kitchen-sink” tour, as Wolfgang Van Halen referred to it, was being planned by Eddie Van Halen before his passing in October. While the timing of Roth’s artwork seems to be in direct response to Hagar’s harsh words, the subject matter apparently references quotes that Hagar made back in June. A...

Jaden Smith Donates 300 Pairs of Kicks on ‘Sneaker Shopping With Complex’

Source: Complex / Complex What does a guy like Jaden Smith buy when he’s out hunting for new footwear?  That’s not the easiest guess to make considering his track record of being a known outlier within Hip Hop and fashion circles over the years. Fundamentally, he’s very much a serious sneakerhead with a keen eye for design and brand collaboration.  Recently, the “Icon” rapper appeared on the latest episode of Sneaker Shopping with Complex discussing all things shoes, including a 2017 forged partnership with New Balance that inspired him to develop the Vision Racer.  Made with recycled and vegan-friendly materials, the chunky bottom shoe with a Sunflower Yellow colorway recently got the stamp of approval from sneaker aficionado Wale and recently stood out in an elegant photos...

adidas Teams Up With Celeb Stylist Kwasi Kessie For Limited-Edition “New York Is Not Over” Headphones

Source: adidas / adidas Not too long ago, current lame-duck president, and exiled New Yorker, Donald Trump, ridiculously claimed that NYC was a ghost town. adidas has teamed up with runner Kwasi Kessie for the perfect response. Announced today (Dec.1), adidas is teaming up with celebrity stylist and adidas Run Club captain Kwasi Kessie for a limited-edition pair of headphones honoring “New York Is Not Over.”  The first-of-its-kind collaboration directly responds to Trump’s ridiculous claims that New York City was dead after Governor Andrew Cuomo and Mayor Bill de Blasio enacted strict lockdown measures to help stop the spread of COVID-19 when the state was the epicenter of the pandemic in the country. The super-limited headphones were customized by hand by Kessie and were designed to ...
