Rusko Teases New 2020 EP on Social Media

The bass music legend has something new in store for 2020. Legendary bass music producer Rusko has remained an icon in the dubstep world for over a decade now, and nothing seems to slow him down. From his immortalized remix of Sub Focus’ “Hold On” to more recent favorites like “Squeeze (Burnin),” Rusko’s unmistakably wobbly sound has certainly earned him a spot in the EDM hall of fame. Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from the veteran producer since his Genghis Danger EP last year, and now it seems their prayers have been answered. Rusko tweeted a screenshot teaser of a folder entitled “Rusko Finished EP Tracks for 2020,” with a blacked out portion of the title leaving an aura of mystery about the forthcoming release. It’s unknown whether t...

Miss Out on Lollapalooza 2020? Check Out Some of the Best Sets from Last Weekend’s Livestream

Sets from last weekend include ZHU, Kaskade, and G Jones B2B Eprom, among many others. Due to the continuation of the current global pandemic, festivals have turned to livestreaming to satisfy their would-be attendees. Lollapalooza took their weekend to the next level, with 150 artists performing via livestream exclusively on YouTube over four nights. While organizers aired old footage of iconic sets from many performers, they also tapped artists for new original performances, and they got creative. Alison Wonderland was joined by a live band for her set, switching things up for fans who normally see her behind the decks. ZHU held one of the longer time-slots of the weekend and decided to venture into the desert at night and perform in front of a fire. Boombox Cartel made a trip ...

Former AGNOSTIC FRONT Bassist ALAN PETERS Dies

Former AGNOSTIC FRONT bassist Alan Peters (second from left in photo above), who played on the legendary hardcore band’s 1987 album “Liberty And Justice For…” album, has died. The news of his passing was confirmed by AGNOSTIC FRONT in a social media post on Friday (August 7). The group wrote: “Today was a very sad day. We lost a solid a brother, a good friend, and a past bandmate who was part of the magic and making of our Liberty And Justice For… LP. Alan Peters is no longer with us. We would often see each other here and there mostly in Dallas. Last time he didn’t make the show and we figured we’d catch him a few months later. Sadly that never happened. Our deepest condolences for the Peters family. Alan had deep roots in the Pitsburgh scene and NYHC s...

DEE SNIDER Says ‘Life’s Too Short’ To Worry About ‘Hair Metal’ Tag: ‘I’m The Original Hair Farmer’

In a behind-the-scenes clip from his recent appearance on SiriusXM‘s “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk”, TWISTED SISTER frontman Dee Snider ranted to host Eddie Trunk about the term “hair metal” and the categorization of music in general. Dee said (see video below): “The term ‘heavy metal’ — I was there, dude — was a derogatory title, assigned to hard rock of a certain type by arrogant, condescending writers and critics. Calling a band heavy metal was originally meant to be a putdown. The bands hated it. The same goes for punk, grunge… The grunge bands hated — SOUNDGARDEN hated to be called grunge. They’d get violent, PEARL JAM. This was a snotty — sort of saying, ‘Oh, yeah, that’s grunge’ — dismissive critics’ nick...

WINGER Is Working On New Music Remotely

WINGER frontman Kip Winger spoke to Marci Wiser of the 95.5 KLOS radio station about the progress of the songwriting sessions for the band’s new studio album. The disc will be the follow-up to “Better Days Comin'”, which came out in 2014. “It’s very interesting, ’cause I was never into doing albums through the mail, file sharing and that,” Kip said (hear audio below). “But in this case, we kind of have to. So I’m writing some things and sending ’em to Reb [Beach, guitar], and he’s adding some stuff and bringing it back. Before the pandemic, Reb came to Nashville and we wrote about four songs together, and then the pandemic happened, so we’ve been doing some file sharing. He’s been actually planning on coming to N...

CLUTCH’s JEAN-PAUL GASTER: ‘I’m Worried For The Younger Generation Of Bands’

Jean-Paul Gaster of CLUTCH was recently interviewed by Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio. You can now listen to the chat below. Asked for his thoughts on the state of rock music, Gaster said: “Rock depends so much on being able to get out and connect with fans, and we can’t do that right now. So I think to say that rock is in a good place is an overstatement. I especially worry about the young bands that are out there now. I know that once this thing blows over, bands like CLUTCH and like MASTODON and like LAMB OF GOD and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, all these bands are established and they have fans, and I know that those fans are gonna come back to see the shows. But I’m worried for the younger generation of bands — bands that are releasing records right now, or getting ready an...
