Six years ago, Travis Barker lent his sticksmanship to the Run the Jewels 2 track “All Due Respect”. Now, El-P and Killer Mike have finally returned the favor by jumping on Barker’s latest solo single, “Forever”. Listen below. In June, El-P and Killer Mike released Run the Jewels 4, one of our favorite releases from 2020 so far. Beyoncé knows how to orchestrate a promotional cycle better than almost anyone in the game. Black Is King is a companion film to The Gift, itself a companion album to Disney’s live-action Lion King remake. The new deluxe edition of the LP includes Beyoncé’s recent single “BLACK PARADE”, originally released on Juneteenth, as well as an extended version that adds a good 35 seconds. There’s also a remix of “Find Your Way Back” by MeLo-x. Stream the collection below via Spotify and Apple Music. You can also hear it ...
Wilford Brimley, the veteran character actor known for films including Cocoon, The China Syndrome, The Thing, and The Natural, who later became a national spokesman for diabetes awareness, has died at the age of 85. TMZ reports that Brimley had been in failing health in recent days and passed away Saturday morning (August 1st) at his home in Utah. Prior to pursing a career in acting, Brimley served in the Marines, and worked as a bodyguard for Howard Hughes, a ranch hand, a wrangler, and a blacksmith. In the late 1960s, at the urging of his friend Robert Duvall, Brimley began pursing work as an extra and stuntman in Westerns. Brimley’s big break came in the 1970s after landing a reoccurring role in the popular CBS television series The Waltons. By the end of the decade, he pivote...
Live Nation has secured financial breathing room by securing favorable changes to its debt covenants ahead of its second-quarter earnings release on Aug. 5. Although covenants are standard requirements meant to protect the lender from a default, and manageable under normal circumstances, they can be impossible to achieve when a pandemic has crippled many types of businesses, especially live entertainment. The latest example of music companies shoring up debt and credit to weather COVID-19, Live Nation’s covenant revisions provide “additional financial flexibility,” CEO Michael Rapino said in a July 31 press release. That’s an understatement. The new covenants represent pandemic-era mathematical formulas that are critical for a company greatly affected by government safety measures. Music v...
Scooter Braun is coming to the defense of Ellen DeGeneres. Following published reports about an alleged toxic work environment at The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the high-profile artist manager — whose clients Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande and Demi Lovato have appeared as guests on the show — shared his support for DeGeneres on social media Friday (July 31). “People love to take shots. They love to see people fall. How quickly so many forget. How easy it is to stay quiet when it doesn’t effect them,” Braun tweeted. “@TheEllenShow is a kind, thoughtful, courageous human being who stands for what is right and highlights on her show the best of us. She has helped change the views for equality.” In early July, Buzzfeed published a widely circulated story featuring ...
Adele is loving Beyonce’s new visual album, Black Is King. The 32-year-old British songstress, who rarely shares photos of herself on social media, gave fans a double whammy on Instagram Saturday (Aug. 1), showing off her luscious quarantine locks while paying tribute to Bey’s Lion King-inspired release. “Thank you Queen for always making us all feel so loved through your art,” Adele captioned a spectacular photo of herself kneeling by a TV featuring Beyonce’s stunning “ALREADY” music video. In the pic, a smiling Adele is wearing a crescent moon-decorated long-sleeve shirt similar to the Marine Serre catsuit Beyonce and her dances don in the clip. On Friday, Bey once again made the world stop with the release of Black Is King on Disney+, an im...
Taylor Swift‘s “Betty,” one plucky part of what she’s affectionately coined Folklore‘s “Teenage Love Triangle,” ends with a cliffhanger. “If I just showed up at your party, would you have me? Would you want me? Would you tell me to go f— myself, or lead me to the garden?” the song’s protagonist, James, sings throughout the track — but the listener isn’t privy to Betty’s immediate answer. One Swift fan took the liberty to build upon Swift’s fantasy scene with a TikTok comedy series from the perspective of everyone else at that fated high school party, where a teen is fumbling through an apology. In some of TikTok user @kerrinotcarrieokay‘s videos, she’s Betty’s “stupid frie...

Saint Punk‘s distortion-heavy single “Guttah,” has received the remix treatment from several rising producers looking to push it to the limit. The grunge house purveyor’s original offering makes its twisted constitution known early, sparing no time before introducing a mangled bassline that dominates the mix. Though he set the energy level high with his original release, Saint Punk managed to find a handful of producers with a willingness to harness and reimagine “Guttah” into something new. Juice! the DJ kicks things off with a full rhythmic transformation, reshaping the single into a midtempo dance floor heater. Meanwhile, Dropheadz and Trst. go toe-to-toe with Saint Punk at his own game with house interpretations that don’t compr...
MK is seeking to have his management agreement declared void, alleging he was duped into an “unconscionable” arrangement by his former team. The renowned music producer and DJ alleges that the agreement from MDM Artists has locked him in for up to a ten-year term, which is reportedly in violation of California law. The state’s “seven-year rule” for employment contracts states that such agreements may only be enforced for a seven-year period. The structure of MK’s agreement in particular included an initial six-year term but also grants an additional four single-year unilateral extensions. Additionally, the suit alleges that the agreement includes a “sunset clause” entitling MDM Artists to a cut of MK’s earnings on deals ...
Former FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH drummer Jeremy Spencer spoke to Rock Feed about his exit from the group after undergoing back surgery in the fall of 2018 that required a significant recovery period. He has since been replaced by Charlie “The Engine” Engen, who made his recording debut with the band on the “F8” album, which came out in February. Spencer said (see video below): “I did a surgery and then I went back out on tour a little early, so it never healed; it kind of got worse. I had degenerative disc in my back from sitting hunched over, bad-posture drumming, double bass, traveling, wearing backpacks, being older — my body was breaking down. And when you’re up there playing shows and you can’t do what you used to do, you start to not enjoy it a...
Corey Taylor has offered some surprising words of support to Kanye West, whose behavior in recent weeks has been increasingly erratic, including divulging deeply personal details about his family and marriage. Last month, West announced that he was running for president, and he delivered a lengthy monologue at a campaign event, during which he told the crowd he and his wife, Kim Kardashian, considered having an abortion when she was pregnant with their oldest daughter. The 43-year-old rapper then went on multiple Twitter tirades, alleging that Kardashian and her mom Kris Jenner had tried to “lock him up,” and claiming that he had been considering divorcing his wife. Taylor, who made headlines in 2015 when he slammed West for claiming to be “the greatest living rock star o...
