METALLICA has posted another video as part of its new concert series, “#MetallicaMondays”, where the band is streaming a complete live show for fans on the group’s YouTube channel and on Facebook every week. The latest concert to be shared was recorded on drummer Lars Ulrich‘s personal camcorder on September 23, 1989 at Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre in Irvine, California. The band states: “Don’t expect some fancy pro-shot video this time around!” METALLICA has been largely out of the public eye since last fall when the band canceled an Australian tour and announced that frontman James Hetfield was returning to rehab for the first time since 2002 to battle his addictions. Hetfield made his first major public appearance since entering rehab on January ...
RATING: 8/10 Ignoring the fact that releasing a live album in the midst of this gig-free nightmare seems a bit like waving a rare steak under the nose of a starving dog, “For The Love Of Metal Live” is almost certainly the supercharged pick-me-up that restless metalheads need right now. Once again, discerning folk should salute Jamey Jasta for facilitating Dee Snider‘s righteous and riotous return to full-bore heavy metal action, because there are few things more uplifting or more honestly entertaining than the sound of the seemingly ageless TWISTED SISTER frontman returning to what he does best. Aside from having one of the greatest voices of all time, Dee‘s insane energy levels and irrepressible demeanor turned his global jaunt in support of comeback album “...
Pop-punks Yellowcard, who broke up in 2017, have dismissed their lawsuit against the late emo-rapper Juice WRLD according to the New York Times, for allegedly copying elements of their tune “Holly Wood Died” in his Sting-sampling megahit “Lucid Dreams.” This is probably for the best, though Yellowcard’s lawyer Richard S. Busch pointed out to Pitchfork that “the dismissal was without prejudice, so it can be refilled [sic].” Let’s hope not; United States District Judge Consuelo B. Marshall originally paused the suit after the rapper born Jarad Higgins died of an overdose ruled accidental at age 21. At the time, the band was seeking a $15 million judgment, though they relented after Higgins’ mother Carmela Wallace was appointed as administrator of Juice WRLD’s estate. When reached for comment...
Denise Johnson, veteran singer who performed with Primal Scream, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, and countless other acts, passed away on Monday. She was 56. Friends and family confirmed the news on Twitter. Although no cause of death has officially been disclosed, a statement from the family confirmed that Johnson had been ill the week prior and her body was discovered holding her inhaler. Born in Manchester and raised in the suburb of Hulme, Johnson grew up in a musically rich household. After performing with cover bands throughout the ’80s, she eventually joined soul group Fifth of Heaven and began turning heads. Shudder is ready to close out the summer by turning up the heat. In August, AMC’s horror streaming service has curated a twisted lineup of originals, classics, and premieres to get us ready for the spooky season ahead. For original features, there’s Rob Savage’s quarantine-based Host, Jayro Bustamante’s politically-charged La Llorona, Jay Baruchel’s new slasher Random Acts of Violence, and Frank Sabatella’s vampiric subversion The Shed. And after kicking off summer, Joe Bob Briggs is ready to bring the house down with a double-feature they’ve dubbed a Summer Sleepover. Special guests are promised, and they’ve already confirmed Hatchet director Adam Green. But there are also a handful of classic being added to the service, including Jawbreaker, Urban Legends: Final Cut, and the original Rin...
A.K. Paul by A.K. Paul Back in May, A.K. Paul quietly dropped his first song in four years, a groovy bop called “HUNGRY BEAT” made during quarantine. Today, he’s back with another new one called “Be Honest”. The track is a mechanical alt-R&B tune that sets the English artist’s warm-blooded croon over watery, refracting synths that almost recall the busyness of vaporwave. It’s exactly the sort of left-of-center pop that we’ve come to expect from Paul and his equally elusive brother, Jai — and apparently we can expect more new material from the siblings soon. In a statement paired with “Be Honest”, A.K. Paul announced that he and Jai are relaunching their enigmatic label, the Paul Institute, and have a whole slew of new releases slated for the coming months. “I’m really happy we’re relea...
It’s a tired line at this point, but coronavirus really does suck for artists like Tove Lo who make music that’s designed for dancing in close quarters. The Swedish pop star released a deluxe “Paw Prints” edition of her 2019 record Sunshine Kitty back in May, and like most Tove Lo songs, the eight bonus tracks were meant to soundtrack crazy club nights that don’t (or at least shouldn’t… looking at you, Florida) exist right now. She’s being a good sport about it, though, doing what she can to keep the party going from lockdown. Earlier today, she submitted a #PlayAtHome performance to of “sadder badder cooler” for the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. The single is a self-empowerment anthem that’s just bleeding Tove Lo’s signature swagger, and in this video she gets really into the part:...
Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty Megan Thee Stallion is breaking her silence about the shooting that took place while she was in Los Angeles. On Monday (Jul 27,) the Houston hottie took to Instagram to give an update to her fans as well as speak a little on the situation. During the short live session, Meg revealed that she was actually shot in both feet before adding that the incident left her shaken resulting in her taking time to process the unfortunate event before responding. “It’s a lot of fake reports out there, but I was actually shot in both feet and thank God the bullets touch bones, or break tendons because where the bullets hit at they missed everything but they are in there,” Megan said. “It’s not that I was protecting anybody, I just wasn’t ready to speak, that’s not something yo...

Source: NBC / Getty Chrissy Teigen is taking her foot out of her mouth after making a tasteless off color joke about Megan Thee Stallion. On Friday (July 24), fans were upset after model turned cookbook author decided to tweet and deleted a joke about the “Fever” rapper’s love of twerking. “I have a megan thee stallion joke but it needs to be twerked on,” Chrissy Teigen wrote then deleted. While the joke wasn’t aimed directly at Meg, fans quickly bombarded the Cravings author with disapproving feedback, calling the remark “insensitive” to post while the “Cash Sh*t” rapper is recovering from reportedly being allegedly shot in the foot by Tory Lanez; and after she’s personally asked for the jokes regarding the situation to cease. As previously reported, Megan Thee Stallion took to Twitt...
Source: Eli Joshua Ade / HBO / Courtesy of HBO When HBO announced its new thriller Lovecraft Country in May, fans were excited because J.J. Abrams and Jordan Peele were associated with the project. However, this latest Comic-Con sneak peek allows us to see what the sci-fi juggernauts have in store for us this summer. The 10-episode series is based on Matt Ruff’s horror novel of the same name. To summarize, the story follows three Black characters as they embark on a road trip across then-segregated America in the 1950s in search of a missing family member. The trio eventually discovers themselves battling supernatural monsters and rampant racism which, in itself, is a horrific theme to explore. The latest sneak peek sets us up for what’s to come. V...
