Watch Bono and the Edge Cover Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’

On Sunday, St. Vincent shared a video of herself “fumbling through” a cover of Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven.” But she wasn’t the only one inspired to tackle the 1971 rock classic. U2’s Bono and the Edge also posted a video cover of “Stairway,” a song they’ve played four times on tour, to salute their road crew. “There’s one annoying aspect of an Irish crew that has to be said,” Bono says in the clip. “Wherever you go in the world, whatever venue you’re playing — whether it’s the Olympia or 3 Arena or Madison Square Garden — you walk into the venue and it’s a big moment, and you’ll hear a song that we said, ‘We’ll never, ever play this.’ And that’s right, ‘Stairway To Heaven.’ These professionals believe they play this better than the band. And you know, it might be tru...

Since the Face Been Revealed: Koreatown Oddity on Little Dominique’s Nosebleed

Two years ago, Dominique Purdy, better known as Koreatown Oddity, torched the werewolf mask he wore during his shows. “I haven’t been performing with it [since 2017] and ain’t nobody says shit,” Purdy jokes. “I got more hair on my face and more hair on my head. Maybe they thought I had the wolf head-on for real.” Little Dominique’s Nosebleed (Stones Throw), the latest album from the independent Los Angeles-based rapper, is the first with his face on the cover. Fittingly, it’s also his most personal and profound. Little Dominique’s Nosebleed is a memoir scored by Purdy’s progressive beats, his sincere and sometimes hilarious look in the rearview mirror as he rolls into the latter half of his 30s. He raps conversationally, delivering insightful punchlines with a great comedian’s timing as he...

Kim Kardashian Asks for “Compassion and Empathy” as Kanye West Battles Bipolar Disorder

Kim Kardashian-West is asking for “compassion and empathy” as her husband Kanye West battles bipolar disorder. In a note posted to Instagram, Kardashian acknowledged that her husband’s recent behavior was the result of his bipolar disorder. This past weekend, Kanye held a campaign rally for president in South Carolina. In the days since then, he’s posted a number of alarming messages to social media. “I understand Kanye is subject to criticism because he is a public figure and his actions at times can cause strong opinions and emotions,” Kardashian wrote. “He is a brilliant but complicated person who on top of the pressures of being an artist and a Black man, who experienced the painful loss of his mother, and has to deal with the pressure and isolation that is heightened by his bipolar di...

Burger Records Fully Shuts Down Following Sexual Misconduct Claims

Earlier this week, facing numerous, largely anonymous allegations of sexual misconduct against employees and bands, Burger Records announced plans for “major structural changes” involving a gradual restructuring of top staff and a rebranding. However, after those plans were met with backlash, interim president Jessa Zapor-Gray has turned down the position and the label has announced it will completely shut down. Initially, co-founder and president Lee Rickard had resigned and co-founder Sean Bohrman took a “transitional role” as Zapor-Gray assumed control. Burger Records changed its name to BRGR RECS and announced “an all-woman imprint” called BRGRRRL. The label also planned to provide “dedicated safe spaces” for women and those under the age of 18 at all Burger Records shows. Objections o...

MÖTLEY CRÜE: Limited-Edition Las Vegas-Inspired 1983 Poster To Go On Sale This Week

On July 29, Iconic by Collectionzz will begin selling a limited-edition MÖTLEY CRÜE screenprint. MÖTLEY CRÜE‘s short-lived tour opening for KISS in early 1983 was the band’s first real opportunity to play on big stages on the West Coast. KISS was undoubtedly a tough act to open for, as they had already reached the heights as one of the world’s biggest bands and arguably the most spectacular concert attraction to date in rock history. But MÖTLEY CRÜE didn’t see it that way, as bassist Nikki Sixx explained. “I guess you could kind of look at it as a young band that was so hungry and so in its zone and we had yet to break, being like a young boxer,” he said. “We just wanted to get in the ring with anybody. The ring was getting on that stage, playing i...
