In a new interview with “Offstage With DWP”, LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe spoke about the band’s song “Walk With Me In Hell”, which was originally written a decade and a half ago by guitarist Mark Morton for his then-girlfriend who later became his wife. “That song in particular, ‘Walk With Me In Hell’, is a love song that Mark Morton wrote,” Randy explained (see video below). “He wrote the lyrics to that song; that’s not my song. But it’s a love song. But I’ve had several people tell me that that song’s helped them through very, very serious times in their lives. “I have a friend who told me about… I met her outside a gig in Cincinnati, and she had had a double mastectomy, and the cancer kept on...
RATING: 8.5/10 These are strange and exciting times in the nefarious stew of death metal creativity. If you enjoyed having your brain turned into spinning gravy by recent records from BLOOD INCANTATION, VOIDCEREMONY and CRYPTIC SHIFT, then the chances are that you are way ahead of me here and already using BEDSORE‘s frankly extraordinary debut album as the soundtrack to your late-night lysergic escapades. Or indeed, your commute. “Hypnagogic Hallucinations” is a wild and profoundly psychedelic death metal record. It’s sonically huge, yet wickedly raw and uncompromising, with so many detours and perverse changes of mood and pace that it could easily have been an incoherent mess. But this band have their fingers plugged firmly into the inspiration matrix: just listen ...

Who is William Bowery? Unless you’re Taylor Swift, or Bowery themself, the answer to that question seems to be the equivalent of the shrug emoji. Thanks to the remote nature of pandemic-era collaboration, even the National‘s Aaron Dessner — who produced and co-wrote 11 tracks on Swift’s new Folklore album, and has been giving a satisfying amount of insight into the process of creating the project with her — has never met Bowery, who’s credited as a co-writer on two songs, “Exile” and “Betty.” When Swift dropped the surprise on Thursday (July 23) that Folklore was coming that night, Bowery was included in a list of “musical heroes” she name-dropped as collaborators: “@aarondessner (who has co-written or produ...

Rivera, who portrayed Santana Lopez on the popular Fox musical series, died in an accidental drowning in Lake Piru, California. She went missing while going boating with her 4-year-old son on July 8, and officials recovered her body on July 13. “This is so unfair…there’s not enough words to express the hole left in everyone’s hearts. I can’t believe this is life now. I don’t know if I’ll ever believe it,” Dorsey, who was married to Rivera from 2014 to 2018, wrote on Instagram on Saturday (July 25). “You were just here… We were just in the back swimming with Josey the day before,” he said. ...
Donda didn’t arrive as planned this week, but Kanye West has at least delivered the album cover. “DONDA ALBM CVR,” he captioned the Twitter update giving a look at the colorful Donda art on Saturday night (July 25). Last week, West announced the new project would be released on Friday (July 24), and even posted a picture of a track list and the promise of an accompanying movie — but none of it has made an appearance yet. Other tweets on Saturday included a public apology to his wife, Kim Kardashian, “for going public with something that was a private matter” over the past week, and a pledge to “beat Biden” in the 2020 presidential race. “To Kim I want to say I know I hurt you. Please forgive me. Thank you for always being ther...

Doja Cat is known as much for her controversial remarks and behavior as she is for her music, but if you spit enough BS eventually you’re gonna get some on yourself. Back in the early days of the pandemic, the rapper mocked coronavirus fears, saying in an Instagram live video, “I’m gonna get corona and then I’m gonna get a Corona, cause I don’t give a fuck about corona, bitch. It’s a flu! Ya’ll are pussies.” Well, hopefully she’s popped that Corona, because Doja Cat has revealed she contracted COVID-19. Doja disclosed the news during an interview with Capital XTRA. Asked how she’d been doing in lockdown, she looked sheepish and said, “I got COVID. Honestly, I don’t know how this happens but I guess I ordered something off of Postmates, and I don’t know how I got it but I got it.” She ...
Comic-Con@Home has been streaming panels since Wednesday, but the virtual version of the San Diego event isn’t the only digital gathering of geeks happening this weekend. Bloggers The Nerd Queens (Cole and Nana) and Wonder Meg organized Justice Con in celebration of Zack Snyder’s long-called-for director’s cut of Justice League, finally set to debut on HBO Max next year. The filmmaker himself appeared for a Zoom panel during the event, and he didn’t come empty handed. While a trailer will be saved for DC Entertainment’s DC FanDome event in August, Snyder presented fans with a 17-second teaser clip. Now that might not seem like much, but when that footage is of the first-ever live-action appearance of Superman’s black suit from the classic 1993 Superman Returns comic, it’s really every...
