Jay Jay French has offered a blistering critique of President Donald Trump‘s leadership skills and personal character. On Wednesday (July 22), the TWISTED SISTER guitarist, who had written a bi-weekly column for Inc. magazine’s web site for nearly six years, took to his Twitter account to say: “I’m so tired of people writing about #LeadershipMatters #leadership #leadershipskills who recycle the same old cliche’s but have never ever run a company. Stop #Phonyleadership advice NOW!! Especially those who have run companies into the ground, had racist hiring practices, filed multiple bankruptcies, sexually harassed dozens of women, paid off porn stars and screwed every vendor and lending institution. Who is Trump international!!” This is not the first time F...

Source: Rob Leiter / Getty After months of delay due to the rampant spread of the Coronavirus, last night (July 23) Opening Day for the MLB officially kicked off and much to the chagrin of Donald Trump, many players decided to take a knee and stand in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. Things started when the New York Yankees and Washington Nationals teams kneeled before the rendition of the National Anthem during their 7pm game, but the Los Angeles Dodgers Mookie Betts decided he’d take his knee during the Star-Spangled Banner. According to TMZ the former Boston Redsox star knows that his actions may rub some the wrong way but wants everyone to know the obvious: it has nothing to do with disrespecting the military. “I know my dad served and I’ll never disrespect the flag,” B...

Canadian singer-songwriter Scott Helman is honoring his late “Papa” with a poignant new single. The vulnerable tune finds the 24-year-old remembering happy childhood moments with his grandfather, who died in June 2019. “Remember the way you drove those London roads, had to hold on for my life / You were like fee-fi-fo-fum coming up the stairs / We’d laugh, me and Jack, saying, ‘Papa I’m scared’ / Now I’m really scared,” he mellifluously sings in the chorus against a soft, nostalgic instrumental. The song ends with a voicemail, in which Helman’s Papa is heard saying, “OK, I’ll speak to you perhaps, tomorrow morning. OK I loves you darling.” In a tweet, the singer revealed that the voicemail is one his grandfather &...
The arrangement — which involves exclusive music, video and gaming content — follows the Twitch deal with rapper Logic earlier this week. Under terms of its deal, KondZilla is providing exclusive music, gaming, video and podcast content, including live remixing of video game tracks produced by DJs on Kondzilla Records, Andre Izidro, head of marketing and intelligence at KondZilla, tells Billboard. The Twitch channel will promote games, chats and feature funk music and stars from KondZilla, such as Mc Jotta...
On Friday (July 24) evening, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars season 5 crowned a winner-winner chicken dinner. After a performance to RuPaul’s “Clap Back” that found each finalist delivering their own lyrics and executing some seriously sickening choreo courtesy Billboard cover star Todrick Hall, the final three – Jujubee, Miz Cracker and Shea Couleé – lip synched to LGBTQ icon Janelle Monae’s “Make Me Feel” to secure the top spot in the Drag Race hall of fame. Dripping in blue and white eleganza, Couleé secured the top spot after a near miss in season 9, which famously saw Sasha Velour (rose) petal her way to the crown during a Whitney Houston lip sync. This time, however, the “Collide” singer nabbed the crown. “Two time’s the ...
Spoilers ahead for the finale of ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5’ At long last, RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 5 has come to an end — after a smashing performance to RuPaul’s new song “Clap Back,” and one final lip sync to Janelle Monáe’s “Make Me Feel,” RuPaul declared the winner … season 9’s Shea Couleé! Considered a favorite to win from the moment she entered the work room, the 31-year-old drag star proved each episode why that was the case. Snatching two challenge wins, and winning every lip sync she performed in, Couleé was considered such a threat that there was even a plotline about queens potentially conspiring to eliminate her as the biggest threat in the competition. “My drag, in its purest form, is a love letter to black women,” Couleé explained on the main stage...
One of the most unexpected collaborations of the year might also just be one of its best. Today, Lupe Fiasco and Kaelin Ellis have released HOUSE, a joint EP they created during quarantine. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify. HOUSE is a testament to the power of the internet. Back in May, the Orlando producer uploaded a video of himself churning out beats while stuck at home. One Twitter user decided to tag Lupe Fiasco in the comments, and the Chicago rapper almost immediately recorded a new version of the track featuring an original freestyle over it. That’s when Fiasco and Ellis decided to link up for real. The two artists wrote and recorded five songs for the HOUSE EP, all of which was created by passing material back and forth online. As for the cover art — which takes its insp...
Taylor Swift isn’t the only one with a New Music Friday surprise. Scottish producer Hudson Mohawke has released a new solo EP, Heart of the Night, completely out of the blue. Stream it in full below via Bandcamp. This new drop comes less than a year after HudMo and Lunice reunited for their second collaborative project as TNGHT. Heart of the Night collects four tracks altogether, some of which are remixes — or “classic R&B bootlegs” as he calls it — of songs by Beyoncé (“Baby Boy”), Sean Paul and Christina Milian (“Dip It Low”), and more. Editors’ Picks Mohawke’s last solo album, Lantern, dropped more than five years ago. Since then, in addition to reactivating TNGHT, he’s produced and remixed material from Kanye West, Anohni, ASAP Rocky, Banks, and DJ Shadow. New newww...
Baseball is officially back, which makes this the perfect time for The Strokes to drop their music video for The New Abnormal standout “Ode to The Mets”. Directed by the band’s longtime collaborator Warren Fu, the clip is broken into eight “chapters,” each digitally animated by a different artist. As the camera pulls back through one location to the next, keep an eye out for subtle Easter eggs hidden amongst the designs. The Mets’ blue-and-orange color scheme is hinted at throughout, and there’s a nod to the team’s last World Series win in 1969. There’s even an old photo of The Strokes themselves from guitarist Nick Valensi’s own collection tucked into one of the scenes. Watch the “Ode to The Mets” video below. Editors’ Picks After releasing The New Abnormal (available here) bac...
