New Boys Noize music is rare, and when it sees the light of the day, calendars must be marked. The iconic producer and DJ is primed for a unique performance this Saturday for The FADER’s “Digital Fort 2.0” virtual show. He will be performing a rare fully modular set, which will be imbued with his signature industrial sonic flair. Boys Noize’s camp has also confirmed that he will be premiering brand new material exclusively, which does not happen often. Considering Boys Noize is in the midst of a truly special year in which he released a scintillating analog record and received a credit on Lady Gaga’s historic Chromatica LP, this set is a must-see. Throughout his illustrious career, Eric Prydz has gone above and beyond when it comes to his stage production. More often than not, when you head to a live show, you expect an impressive LED panel set-up, lasers, and maybe the odd fireball every so often. Prydz, however, doesn’t settle for just that. He’s worked over the years to produce some of the most jaw-dropping visual spectacles electronic music has seen, including the V O I D and EPIC: HOLOSPHERE. The esteemed Swedish DJ and producer is back with his next design, reimagined for the livestreaming age. Dubbed [CELL.], it’s a stage specifically made for Tomorrowland Around the World, the virtual festival that will take place this weekend. In a teaser Prydz shared with his fans, you can ...
Renowned bass music producer Dubloadz has announced his retirement from the electronic dance music industry. Dubloadz took to Twitter to share a heartfelt statement today, July 23rd, waxing poetic about the extremely difficult decision to hang up the headphones. “The truth is Dubloadz is like a band aid that I need to rip off at this point. It’s like a character I don’t want to play anymore or have any belief in,” he wrote. “I never thought I’d reach a point where I truly believed my dream was dead, but I have. Even before 2020, in the depths of the last year which was the worst of my life, I’ve been trying to soul search and find happiness in everything I’ve built. The truth is, I haven’t been happy or felt alive since the be...
A dance music subreddit is reigniting the discussion around the genre’s top albums, calling on its members to rank the “Top 100 Electronic Albums” of the 2010s. r/electronicmusic has been working over the last few months to organize the masses to narrow down the Top 100 rankings. They broke the process up into three phases, which included the nomination stage, the Top 100 Selection stage, and finally the Top 100 Ranking. At the time of this publication, they still have the final top five to place, but so far the results have revealed an order that would gain mass endorsement even outside of the Reddit community. Making the Top 100 are some standouts, including Odesza‘s A Moment Apart, Gorillaz‘s Plastic Beach, Gessafflestein‘s Aleph, and Porter Robinson&...

In a new interview with Australia’s Blunt, MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee was asked what he thinks the future for the entertainment industry will be post-pandemic. He said: “I think about this. Like a lot of people say, ‘Well, what are you going to do when everything’s back to normal?’ And I use that term lightly. Just imagine, okay. Let’s say we’re all cool. And everything’s a fucking go and it’s cool to pack a stadium full of people. When people ask me what I want to do, that’s what I want to do. I want to be sitting behind my fucking drums in a stadium with fucking 60,000 people going fucking apeshit because they can again. That, to me, that is priceless. You can’t buy that. You can’t fucking rent it. You can’t...
Just a few days before DOKKEN played two “socially distanced” concerts last weekend in Virginia and Arkansas, Don Dokken spoke to Anne Erickson of Audio Ink Radio about how he is dealing with the coronavirus crisis and what the touring circuit might look like post-pandemic. He said (hear audio below): “This was gonna be one of our biggest years of touring. We were gonna be on tour from February through October — like, 30 or 40 shows — and COVID came, and it’s all over. It affected us financially, obviously, and it affected us being locked in the house. But we are doing two shows this week — we’re playing Virginia and Arkansas. We’re doing two outdoor shows, and so we’ll see how it goes. They’re gonna do social distancing, and they’re ch...
RATING: 8.5/10 There was a time, not so long ago, when the U.S. trad and power metal scenes seemed terminally unable to compete with their European counterparts. Or at least that’s what we tell ourselves shortly before the shaming revelation that JUDICATOR are poised to release their fifth studio album. Doubtless there are plenty of diehards in America and elsewhere who knew all about this band long ago. It’s probably just me. I’m hanging my head in shame as I write this. The good news, of course, is that “Let There Be Nothing” is an absolutely staggering feat of epic power metal extravagance. If the band’s previous records are even half as good as this, my shame will be complete, but my music collection will be enhanced. You take the rough with the smoo...
Garage rocker Nobunny, a regular staple at Burger Records events, has issued a statement in which he admits to sexual misconduct involving underage women and states he is retiring from music. Justin Champlin, the artist who performs under the moniker Nobunny, released his statement earlier Thursday. In it, he says that he has not been publicly “called out” but wants to take responsibility for his previous actions. However, a post on @lured_by_burger_records — the Instagram account that detailed dozens of allegations against Burger Records’ bands, ultimately resulting in the label shutting down for good — claims that Nobunny engaged in online sexual activity with a 14-year-old despite knowing how old she was. Champlain’s statement begins by acknowledging and taking ownership of his pas...
