Grammy Award-nominated house music duo CamelPhat have released the official music video for their collaboration with Foals‘ Yannis Philippakis, who directed the spellbinding short along with Kit Monteith. The video serves as a psychedlic journey through the haunting single, which marries the hypnotic vocal stylings of Yannis with the kinetic house flavors of Camelphat. Oscillating between retro, VHS-style footage of Yannis and prismatic pirouettes straight out of the lens of a kaleidoscope, it takes inspiration from its title to deliver a stellar directorial debut for the Foals frontman. “We’ve been longtime fans of Foals after seeing them live a number of times over the years, and they have always been on our list to collaborate with,” Camelphat ...

THE DEAD DAISIES — the hard rock “collective” founded by Australian musician and businessman David Lowy — released a new digital EP, “The Lockdown Sessions”, on July 17 via Steamhammer/SPV. The effort contains four acoustic tracks, all of them exclusive to this EP. Lowy said: “As soon as it had become clear that our tour and album release would have to be postponed until 2021, we recorded these acoustic tracks with our fans in mind. ‘The Lockdown Sessions’ is our way to stay in touch with everyone despite the global restrictions.” “The Lockdown Sessions” contains four tracks: “Unspoken”, “Righteous Days” and an amazing version of the HUMBLE PIE classic “30 Days In The Hole”, with these three exc...

That’s what we did. What an amazing cast of musicians I had the pleasure of doing this with. From the opening riff until the pick slide at the end, it’s nothing but a good time ...
METALLICA has posted another video as part of its new concert series, “#MetallicaMondays”, where the band is streaming a complete live show for fans on the group’s YouTube channel and on Facebook every week. The latest concert to be shared was recorded on June 6, 2006 at Waldbühne in Berlin, Germany and featured the “Master Of Puppets” album performed in its entirety. “Master Of Puppets” was released on February 24, 1986 and was the first album METALLICA recorded after signing a major label deal with Elektra Records. It is the last record to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who was killed later that year in a tour bus crash. Several songs f...
Longtime indie label Burger Records has been accused of “curating” a breeding ground for predatory behavior and sexual misconduct. Additionally, sexual assault allegations have been made specifically against Burger Records signees and their associates, including members of The Growlers, The Frights, The Buttertones, SWMRS, and Cosmonauts, among others. Many of the allegations were complied on an Instagram page called Lured_By_Burger_Records, which was launched in hopes of “amplifying voices and supporting those who were victims of sexual predation by predators involved with Burger Records.” Numerous posts recount instances in which young, underage girls were invited into the back room of Burger Records’ physical store in Fullerton, California, only to be to preyed upon by older m...

At last, Sylvan Esso have finally announced a new album. The record, titled Ferris Wheel, is due out September 25th via Loma Vista. To celebrate the news, Sylvan Esso have shared the title track as well as a dizzying music video to go with it. This is Sylvan Esso’s third full-length album to date, following 2017’s What Now and their 2014 self-titled debut. Ferris Wheel spans 10 tracks in total, including the new song they shared today as well as the previously released single “What If” — which, according to the tracklist, serves as the album opener, too. “It’s a record about being increasingly terrified of the world around you and looking inward to remember all the times when loving other people seemed so easy, so that you can find your way back to that place,” the band said in a statement...
On July 20th, 1990, The Freshman hit theaters with all the right pieces. It had solid pitch, one of Hollywood’s sharpest scribes in writer/director Andrew Bergman, and ’80s icon and heartthrob Matthew Broderick. To top it all off, the mob comedy managed to even wrangle the Don himself Marlon Brando, who had all but retired by that point. It wasn’t a summer blockbuster, but it was a success for TriStar. Critics loved it, audiences enjoyed it, and the box office returns managed to nearly double the budget. In the years since, however, it has garnered a cult following, and many view it as one of the last great works of Brando’s legendary (and oft-puzzling) career. To commemorate the film’s 30th anniversary, we recently spoke with writer/director Andrew Bergman, producer Michael Lobell, and st...
As previously reported, Juice WRLD’s Legends Never Die enters the Billboard 200 at No. 1 this week. It’s his second No. 1 album. He landed his first, Death Race for Love, in March 2019—nine months before he died of a seizure. This makes Juice WRLD just the ninth artist in the 64-year history of the Billboard 200 to top the chart both while they were alive and after their death. Here’s a complete list of the artists who have achieved this feat: John Lennon: The ex-Beatle had two No. 1 solo albums before his death (Imagine in 1971 and Walls and Bridges in 1974) and one since (Double Fantasy, a collab with wife Yoko Ono, in 1980). Lennon was shot to death on Dec. 8, 1980. He was 40. 2Pac: The rapper had two No. 1 albums before his death (Me Against the World in 1995 and All Eyez on Me i...
An argument involving Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion last weekend resulted in the first rapper behind bars after police arrested him for finding a gun in his car and the latter in the hospital after reports said Lanez allegedly shot her. Earlier on Saturday night (July 11), Megan documented hanging poolside with Lanez and Kylie Jenner on her Instagram Live. Police later arrested Lanez for a felony count of carrying a concealed weapon in a vehicle last Sunday (July 12) when officers found the weapon in his SUV after receiving a disturbance call outside a Hollywood Hills residence around 4 a.m. According to TMZ‘s initial report, an argument ensued and someone fired shots in the air before taking off in the vehicle, where police later found the “Hot Girl” ...
With the benefit of hindsight, Alice Ivy was in wonderland when she cut Don’t Sleep. The new LP captures a glorious time not so long ago, filled with mates and late nights in faraway places. That was, before the pandemic ruined everything. Speaking with Billboard from her home in Melbourne, which has just entered a second lockdown, Don’t Sleep is the followup to 2018’s critically-lauded I’m Dreaming. Spanning 13 tracks, Don’t Sleep was written across a dizzying stretch of timezones, and features a diverse lineup with numerous female, non-binary, LGBTQI+, and BIPOC artists and voices. “I’m a very collaborative person,” she explains. “I would have struggled to get a lot of things over the line (stuck) in a room by myself.” [embedded content] In the mixing p...
