UZ and Oski Collide On Two-Track Quality Goods EP “Freezer”

Quality Goods Records, run by trap icon UZ, has established itself as a prominent label within the bass world in recent years. Apart from releasing the OG’s music, QGR has helped catapult the careers of massively talented producers such as Ian Munro, sumthin sumthin and Oski, among others, the latter of whom has collaborated with UZ to release a two-track EP called Freezer. It has been more than 3 years since the two talented artists worked on music together, when they released “Inferno” with Craze, which was featured in UZ’s debut album Layers. Judging by the quality UZ and Oski can craft when working side by side, fans should definitely be excited to hear another two tracks nicely packaged by the forward-thinking producers. Freezer is an highly creative combination of...

This Electronic Music Album Samples Endangered Songbirds to Raise Awareness of Conservation

A group of artists have responded to the challenge to create a song utilizing the sounds of their favorite songbird. The result is an album that will immortalize the calls of the world’s most endangered bird species in an effort to draw awareness towards their plight. Artist Robin Perkins, also known as El Búho (Spanish for “the Owl”), is spearheading the project as a follow-up to his 2015 release, A Guide to the Birdsong of South America. The initial album was supported by a successful crowdfunding campaign, which raised $15,000 for two South American nonprofit organizations. The follow-up effort, titled A Guide to the Birdsong of Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, aims to do the same with music featuring the Jamaican Blackbird, ...

deadmau5 Teases New VR Project with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine

deadmau5 took to Instagram recently to share a teaser of a forthcoming VR project.  The electronic music icon was mum on the details, however, writing nothing but an arcane caption along with the video that reads, “A breed of goat.” The teaser does divulge that the project was produced in collaboration with Epic Games‘ gameframe Unreal Engine as well as Geodesic Games and Upsurge Studios. The teaser closes in typically cryptic deadmau5 style with a nebulous message that says “Codename #Oberhasli.” An Oberhasli is a breed of dairy goat, which explain’s deadmau5’s caption but does nothing to demystify it in terms of the forthcoming project. You can watch the teaser below. FOLLOW DEADMAU5: Facebook: facebook.com/deadmau5Twitter: twitter...

WOLFGANG VAN HALEN Says It’s Not Up To DAVID LEE ROTH To Decide If EDDIE VAN HALEN Will Tour Again

Wolfgang Van Halen says that it’s not up to David Lee Roth to decide whether Eddie Van Halen will ever tour again. Eddie‘s 29-year-old son, who plays bass for VAN HALEN, made the comment shortly after Roth gave an interview to the New York Times in which he said that VAN HALEN is unlikely to perform live anytime soon. “I don’t know that Eddie is ever really going to rally for the rigors of the road again,” Roth said. “I don’t even want to say I’ve waited — I’ve supported for five years. Because what I do is physical as well as musical and spiritual — you can’t take five years off from the ring. But I did. And I do not regret a second of it. He’s a band mate. We had a colleague down. And he’s down now for enough time th...

ADEMA’s DAVID DEROO Says He Contracted COVID-19, Urges People To Wear Masks: ‘I’ve Been Careless And Callous’

ADEMA bassist David DeRoo has urged people to wear face masks after he was diagnosed with COVID-19. Earlier today (Saturday, July 18), DeRoo took to his personal Facebook page to say that he originally believed COVID-19 was blown out of proportion and was questioning “how ‘real’ it is/was.” But once he started experiencing the usual COVID-19 symptoms, including loss of taste, fatigue, body aches and fever, he took himself to the emergency room at a local hospital where he was tested for the novel coronavirus. The musician, who says he has pre-existing conditions which put him at more of a risk than someone with no underlying health issues, now admits that he was “careless and callous” in the days leading up to his diagnosis and says that COVID-19 should ...

TED NUGENT Says He Loves DONALD TRUMP: He Is ‘Not An Entrenched, Status Quo, Power-Abusing, Criminal, Punk-Ass Politician’

Ted Nugent has once again praised President Donald Trump, saying that the billionaire real estate mogul is not a typical “power-abusing criminal, punk-ass politician.” The outspoken conservative rocker, who is a staunch proponent of gun ownership, discussed America’s 45th president an interview with “America This Week With Eric Bolling”, Sinclair Broadcast Group‘s weekly news program hosted by conservative Fox News alum Eric Bolling. Ted said (see video below): “I see that Donald J. Trump, hallelujah, is not an entrenched, status quo, power-abusing, criminal, punk-ass politician. He’s a hellraiser, working-hard, playing-hard guy that got us back to God, family, country, work ethic, independence — you know, the man in the arena. You bust your ...

DEZ FAFARA Says DEVILDRIVER Is Planning A ‘Huge’ Tour With Four ‘Major’ Bands For Next Spring

In a brand new interview with “The Mistress Carrie Podcast”, DEVILDRIVER frontman Dez Fafara spoke about how he is dealing with the coronavirus crisis and what the touring circuit might look like post-pandemic. Asked if he thinks bands will hit the road in a major way next year, he said (hear audio below): “I don’t know if I feel that to be true in 2021, just because I’ve been talking to some people. I’d like to keep it positive and be, like, ‘Fuck yeah! Let’s get some shows going,’ but I’m not sure. And I’m seeing a lot of people hold their records back and not deliver records, because it’s not a good business move. To deliver a record in the middle of a pandemic when you can’t tour on it, et cetera, et cetera, ...

The Chicks’ Gaslighter Galvanizes The Trio’s Long-Awaited Return: Review

The Lowdown: The most infamous act in country music, The Chicks (formerly known as the Dixie Chicks), stopped releasing new music 14 years ago, after their seventh album, Taking the Long Way, netted five Grammys. These included Album of the Year, plus Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Not Ready to Make Nice”, which settled any lingering questions about whether they regretted their 2003 criticism of George W. Bush (they did not). Gaslighter marks the trio’s official return, and a lot has changed, both in the surrounding world and in the sound of The Chicks’ music. But some crucial elements remain the same: their attention is firmly focused ahead of them and on the things they care for. In the songs that focus on deteriorating relationships, and notably lead singer Natalie Maines’...

The Chicks Unleash the Comeback Album Gaslighter: Stream

The Chicks, formerly the Dixie Chicks, have released their comeback album Gaslighter. Stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify. For a high-definition listening experience, you can sign up for a 60-day free trial of TIDAL HiFi. While The Chicks are no longer whistling dixie (they changed their name last month in the aftermath of Black Lives Matter protests) this is still the same trio that tore up country radio at the turn of millennium, and it’s the same group that ran smack into the W. Bush war propaganda machine. Lead singer Natalie Maines’ 2003 comments about the impending invasion of Iraq — “We do not want this war, this violence, and we’re ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas” — led to the most forceful music backlash in decades. Fans burned their ...

R.I.P. Ken Chinn (a.k.a. Mr. Chi Pig), Singer of Punk Band SNFU Dies at 57

Ken Chinn (aka Mr. Chi Pig) of SNFU Ken Chinn (a.k.a. Mr. Chi Pig), the singer of influential Canadian hardcore-punk band SNFU, has died at the age of 57. No cause of death has been disclosed, but the vocalist previously revealed in a December 2019 interview with Beatroute that he was in failing health and had a short time to live. The origins of SNFU — short for Society’s No F**king Use — date back to 1981, when Chinn first formed the punk band Live Sex Shows in Edmonton with twin-brother guitarists Marc and Brent Belke. While that outfit would break up later that year, the three musicians re-formed as SNFU shortly thereafter, going through a series of drummers and bassists throughout the ’80s. From 1985 through 1988, they released three albums, beginning with their debut, …And No One Els...

England to Allow Indoor Concerts Beginning Next Month

Earlier this week, veteran talent agent and Lollapalooza co-founder Marc Geiger predicted that concerts likely won’t return in the US until 2022 — a much bleaker timeline than the one previously provided by health experts. Meanwhile, our friends across the Atlantic will allow indoor concerts to take place beginning August 1st, 2020. UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson revealed the news on Friday, July 17th, as part of a larger discussion about the UK entering stage 4 of their five-stage reopening plan. While live indoor events will be allowed to return, there will be a strict set of guidelines in place, including social distancing measures, reduced capacity for venues, required online ticketing, frequent sanitization of sites, and staggered performance schedules. “The UK’s performing arts...

Billie Joe Armstrong Covers The Equals’ ‘Police on My Back’

After a brief hiatus, Billie Joe Armstrong seems to be back with consistent installments of his No Fun Monday cover series… only, on Fridays. After sharing a cover of Billy Bragg’s “A New England” last Friday “because no one knows what day it is anyway,” the Green Day frontman continued the trend this week with a rendition of The Equals’ 1967 track that is all too relatable today, “Police on My Back.” “This was originally written and performed by The Equals, Eddy Grant’s beat group from the 60 [sic],” Armstrong captioned the cover on Instagram. “And of course The Clash slay it.” Listen to Armstrong’s cover of “Police on My Back” below. This installment is the latest in a lengthy catalog Armstrong’s built since quarantine began. It follows his cover of The Wonders’ “That...
