Ahead of its release this Friday, Nicolas Jaar is previewing his new album, Telas, on his newly relaunched website. The record marks the electronic music composer’s third full-length of 2020, following his March album Cenizas and February’s 2017-2019, an industrial techno record he released under his alias Against All Logic. The hour-long Telas is broken up into four distinct parts — “Telahora”, “Telencima”, “Telahumo”, and “Telallás” — one of which was already shared by Jaar back in May during a Radio Alhara performance. Additional musical contributions come courtesy of cellist Milena Punzi, vocalist Susanna Gonzo, and instrument makers Anna Ippolito and Marzio Zorio, with mastering being handled by Heba Kadry. According to Jaar’s revamped website, Telas is more t...
Udo Dirkschneider has ruled out the possibility of a reunion with ACCEPT. Dirkschneider, who last reconnected with ACCEPT in 2005 for a number of exclusive shows, discussed the prospect of a renewed working relationship with his bandmates during a recent interview with “The Rock N Ragni Show”. Speaking about the fact that former ACCEPT bassist Peter Baltes and longtime drummer Stefan Kaufmann both appear on the new album from his U.D.O. project, “We Are One”, Dirkschneider said: “It’s, in a way, a reunion if we were working together songwriting-wise. That was interesting. But a lot of people came up already [saying this opens the door to an ACCEPT] reunion. And I said, ‘What kind of reunion?’ It’s not possible to do a reunion with ACCEP...
METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich was a guest this week on “Full Frontal With Samantha Bee”, where he discussed the band’s recent volunteer efforts with Feeding America. As closures and social distancing orders meant to limit the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) continue across the country, the impact is being felt in communities large and small. While changes taking place are disrupting the lives of nearly everyone in some way, food-insecure individuals — who numbered over 37 million (11.5%), including over 11 million children, in 2018 — are facing particular challenges, and the number of people who experience food insecurity is already increasing. “The craziest thing, if you get into stats, is that one in six Americans are on track to be food insecure this y...
Sebastian Bach has engaged in a Twitter feud with Chris Jericho over allegations that the FOZZY frontman uses pre-recorded vocal tracks during live performances. The exchange began on Wednesday (July 15), when one fan commented on the social media platform that Jericho “is starting to look like” the former SKID ROW singer, with Sebastian weighing in: “Every single day for the last two or three years somebody tells me this” After another person told Sebastian, ” You partied too much Jericho has you beat”, Bach came back with “He definitely does considering that he mimes to a tape”. A third fan told Sebastian: “You know [Chris] tours with his band, right? I’ve seen him live a couple of times. He’s not lip syncing”, to wh...
Melodic-hardcore greats RISE AGAINST have released an expanded edition of their 2014 magnum opus “The Black Market” on July 15 via Interscope/UMe. For the first time ever, all recordings that were previously available as bonus tracks — “About Damn Time” and “We Will Never Forget” from “The Eco-Terrorist In Me” 7″ and the Japan-only bonus track “Escape Artists” — have been added to the international digital version of the album. Hailed upon its release by Kerrang! as “a magnificent wake-up call,” by Alternative Press as reflecting “the sheer heart with which [its songs] were forged and the very visceral emotion they contain,” by Allmusic as “a strong contender for [RISE AGAINST‘s] most time...
Type ”Murray, Kentucky” into a Google Maps search box, and the jagged edges of what USA Today once called the “Friendliest Small Town in America” come into view. There are two labels. One, predictably, is for Murray State University, a public college in town. The other is simply called “Confederate Monument.” It’s right there by the courthouse in town, Gen. Robert E. Lee standing sentinel over a porcelain drinking fountain surrounded by columns. It was erected in 1917; things being how they are today, who knows how much longer it will stand. S.G. Goodman, whose debut album, Old Time Feeling is out July 17, doesn’t specifically write about the monument standing in her town, but her subtexts are pointed straight in its direction. She sings — her voice as soulful as her themes can be challeng...
Source: Prince Williams / Getty In the era of music streaming, few Hip-Hop stars have occupied the top spots in the manner that Drake and Future appear to do so at will. RIAA recently released its 2020 mid-year report and shared that the pair’s “Life Is Good” collaboration is the top digital single of the year thus far. Via an infographic, the Recording Industry Association of America laid out the songs and albums that moved the needle from the top of the year to the midpoint we’re under now. For the past six months, Future’s “Life Is Good” featuring Drake has gone five times platinum, thus it was crowned as the Top Digital Song for 2020. Other notable Hip-Hop top sellers include Lil Baby’s My Turn, now certified platinum, Lil Uzi Vert’s Eternal Atake, also certified platinum, with Future’...
