Michael Keaton is back in the Batcave — or will be in the near future. On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter shook comic book fans everywhere when they reported that the Oscar-nominated veteran will once again return to Wayne Manor for a series of films in the Warner Bros./DC Extended Universe. The report suggests that the studio is attempting to lock the actor into a multi-picture deal that would see his Batman serve as a mentor to younger heroes. More specifically, he could appear in Andy Muschietti’s much-delayed The Flash starring Ezra Miller and the long-gestating Batgirl movie. While that’s all well and good, it would be a total waste of Keaton’s commitment. Sure, audiences would be stoked to see his mug pop up in an alternate universe of The Flash, but they would be far more stoked...

Some movie theaters across the US have begun the process of reopening, face masks required. However, as new titles, like Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, aren’t out until the end of July, cinemas are opting to screen old summer classics as a way to lure back potential moviegoers. It made for a big weekend for Steven Spielberg. The number of women on the Recording Academy’s 40-member board of trustees jumped from 14 to 17 following the recent trustees elections, which included, for the first time in academy history, four “at large” trustee seats. In three of those four two-person contests, two women faced off, ensuring that a female would fill that seat. Trustees are primarily selected by the governors of each of the academy’s 12 chapters. This year, for the first time, voting members selected the winners in four “at large” trustee seats. In those elections, Chelsey Green defeated Maimouna Youssef; Natalia Ramirez bested Sarah Hudson; Carolyn Malachi outpolled Kelly Price; and, in the one all-male face-off, PJ Morton beat Camilo Landau. In addition to Green, Ramirez and Malachi, three other female trustees were n...

You’d think that people would have had enough of silly school meals? After asking fans to “ditch meat” for his birthday last week, Paul McCartney is speaking up again. The former Beatle, along with daughters Stella and Mary, signed a letter urging England’s Education Secretary Gavin Williamson to no longer make meat mandatory in England’s school meals. The letter was part of the “consultation process” for the National Food Strategy, a landmark review of Britain’s food system, according to the Guardian. “No one needs to eat meat, so it shouldn’t be mandatory to serve it in schools,” the McCartneys said in a statement. “It’s time to revise the School Food Standards to help the planet, spare animals, and promote healthy eating.” As of now, the current school food plan ...
Source: Michael Lee / Getty One of the best parts about growing up in New York City during the 80’s was the easy access to fireworks and how lit the 4th of July would be in the city that never sleeps. Though they’ve since been banned due to the countless injuries they’ve produced, this year has seen a record number of illegal fireworks light up the streets of New York at night. The Gothamist is reporting that complaints of fireworks exploding through the night rose by 236 times compared to the same time period last year as there have been 6,385 call ins about fireworks from June 1st to June 19th. Last year there were only 27 in the same time frame. That’s a helluva difference. But these aren’t just your run of the mill jumping jacks and skyrockets, onlookers have noticed they’re pretty hig...
Source: Xinhua News Agency / Getty In case you forgot, COVID-19 is still here. Apple isn’t taking any chances following a spike in cases across the country. Back in March, Apple made a move to close all of its retail stores outside of China but decided to reopened stores on May 11 following the strict guidelines, of course. The recent spikes in COVID-19 cases have caused enough concern that the tech giant decided to close stores in North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, and Arizona.
