The Killers Share New Single ‘My Own Soul’s Warning’

The Killers teased new music over the weekend, and now it’s is here. Titled “My Own Soul’s Warning,” the song is the latest to emerge from Imploding the Mirage. “Caution,” which was the first single that was recently performed on The Tonight Show and Ellen, hit no. 1 on the Alternative and Triple A radio charts. “I tried going against my own soul’s warning/But in the end, something just didn’t feel right/Oh I tried diving even though the sky was storming/And I just wanted to get back to where you are,” the song starts before building into the synth-driven anthem. George Floyd’s Daughter Gianna Thanks Kanye West

Source: WENN/Avalon / WENN For the past few years Kanye West has made some very questionable political choices from throwing his support behind Donald Trump’s presidency to calling slavery a choice, but he finally did something we could get behind when he pledged to pay for the education of George Floyd’s daughter’s while also blessing the families of Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery with financial assistance. On Monday night 6-year-old Gianna Floyd publicly thanked Kanye for his generous gift on her Instagram account (children have social media too. Welcome to 2020), and in the caption expressed her gratitude while tagging his famous wife, Kim Kardashian. “Thank You Kanye, Because of You I Will have a college Education… Mommy and I are so thankful for you and your family @kimkardashian.” ...

Cargo Shorts Defunded: NYPD Is Shutting Down Their Plainclothes Crime Unit

Source: Ramin Talaie / Getty While there is much more work to be done to put an end to police brutality we are already winning small victories. Some of the badges in the Big Apple can no longer go undercover. As spotted on Raw Story the New York Police Department is making changes to their force and how it patrols low income communities. The New York Times is reporting that Commissioner Dermot F. Shea announced they are shutting down their plainclothes crime unit. This change is monumental as the subdivision in question has been responsible for some of the most notorious police shootings in the city’s history. Shea explained the recent demonstrations have led to this new strategy. “Thankfully, here in New York City, angry demonstrations have turned peaceful. Thoughtful discu...

‘Wakanda’ Is a Myth: We Are Still Dying In Atlanta [Editorial]

Source: Julia Beverly / Radio One Digital Atlanta is painted as a Black utopia with its affluent and successful Black establishments, cultural exporting significance in entertainment and celebrity, and the city’s black ass leadership with a mayor named Keisha. Some, like rapper T.I., affectionately describe it as a real-world Wakanda, partly because Black Panther was filmed there, but in reality, the underbelly of the city led by Black mayors for almost 50 years is quite seedy. George Floyd’s very public execution at the hands of the Minneapolis police galvanized the Black Lives Matter movement in the Twin Cities but Georgia natives were still reeling from the loss of Ahmaud Arbery, who was murdered by white supremacists while jogging in Brunswick, Ga. As the nation became inflamed over wi...

Black Sabbath Selling Black Lives Matter T-Shirt in Style of Band’s Classic Logo

Black Sabbath are showing support for Black Lives Matter by selling a t-shirt with the activist movement’s name spelled out in the style of the iconic metal band’s logo. All net proceeds from the sale of the shirts will be donated to support Black Lives Matter. The godfathers of heavy metal played their last show in 2017, but they continue to have legions of fans throughout the world. The reaction to the t-shirt on the band’s Facebook page has been mostly positive, with some dissenters renouncing their fandom over its political nature. Those naysayers have been called out by supportive fans, who cite the band’s political anthems like “War Pigs” and “Wicked World” as examples of the heavy metal legends taking a stance on social issues in the past. The shirt plays off the purple band logo ma...

RMR Teams Up with Young Thug for “RASCAL” Remix: Stream

RMR may be semi-anonymous thanks to his mysterious masked persona, but that hasn’t stopped the hip-hop vocalist from trying to scale the hype charts rather quickly this year. First came his breakout song “RASCAL”, which he followed up last week with his debut EP, Drug Dealing Is a Lost Art. Now, RMR has dropped a remix for his hit single featuring the inimitable Young Thug. RMR — pronounced Rumor — found viral fame this spring with “RASCAL”, a song that opens with a beautiful a cappella rendition of Rascal Flatts’ “These Days” before launching into an interpolation of country classic “Bless the Broken Road”, complete with new lyrics about staying close to your crew and flipping off the boys in blue. In this remix, “RASCAL” gets a new, moving verse from Young Thug that reworks the trac...
