Above & Beyond to Release Coveted Single “Reverie” This Week

Above & Beyond snapped fans to attention with the group’s latest release announcement for the track heard around the world. After playing it out at shows worldwide for many months, the trio has announced that their song “Reverie” featuring Zoë Johnston will finally be released this week. The forthcoming single has the makings of what could easily be Above & Beyond’s next hit. That formula starts with a dreamy vocal from tenured collaborator Johnston, whose lingering words delicately roll over the cascading tide of Above & Beyond’s dependable club bass. Zoë Johnston has been a part of some of the trance trio’s biggest contributions, including their sultry 2019 smash “Sahara Love” and the Grammy Award-nominated &...

Dimension Announces Debut Album with Lead Single Out Friday

With the announcement of his forthcoming debut album, Dimension is about to embark on the biggest chapter of his career yet. The UK producer announced that the long-form project will be out later this year, but fans won’t have to wait long at all for the first single to drop. Written alongside UK songstress Jem Cooke, the album’s lead single “Saviour” is already demonstrating great promise. Cooke has famously been featured on the smash CamelPhat hits “Breathe” and “Rabbit Hole.” The forthcoming single will feature the soulful Sharlene Hector, who most recently appeared on Duke Dumont‘s “Therapy.” Never one to hype things up, Dimension has been particularly deliberate and precise in his approach thus far. Perha...

SPIN’s First Nirvana Cover Shoot Photos Up for Auction

Nirvana’s first-ever nationwide magazine cover was with SPIN in January 1992. It became a piece of rock history and one that you can now own yourself. Greg Watermann, who took the photo for us, is putting his famous negatives from the photo session up for auction this weekend at Julien’s in Beverly Hills. If you remember, this is the same auction where Kurt Cobain’s 1959 Martin D-18E acoustic-electric guitar, which he used on MTV Unplugged, will be auctioned as well. It’s valued at…$1 million. But back to the negatives. The package includes everything from Watermann’s archive: 100 original color slides and black-and-white negatives — every photo published plus the outtakes, the original contact sheets, signed analog gallery prints, the Hasselblad camera used for the sho...

Serj Tankian Rips System of a Down Fans Who Love Trump: ‘You’re a Hypocrite’

It’s been an interesting few weeks for System of a Down fans. Drummer John Dolmayan and singer Serj Tankian have taken complete opposite stances on President Trump and protests overall in recent weeks, with the former praising the president and the latter, not so much. In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Tankian made it even more clear where he stands (not that it even needed any clarification). Ahead of posting lyrics to the band’s unreleased “Temper,” Tankian wrote the following: A very early @systemofadown song that was on one of our demos-lyrics below: if you love this song or play along to it and love Trump, you’re a hypocrite-just a simple fact 🙂 “Temper” View this post on Instagram A very early @systemofadown song that was on one of our demos-lyrics below: if you love...

Tekashi 6ix9ine and Nicki Minaj unveiled the lyric video for their new collaboration “Trollz” on Monday (June 15). The animated clip features rainbow-haired cartoons of the two rappers sharing a candy-coated lollipop as the track’s lyrics flash across the screen. “Dolla dolla bill, come get her/ Even ya man know Nickis do it better/ I know you don’t like me, you wanna fight me/ Always on my page, never double tap like me/ Baddies to my left and on my right/ Never chase a corny n*****, put that on my life,” Minaj raps on the second verse after taking the reins from 6ix9ine. The lyric video follows the release of the single’s official visual, which notched more than 32 million views in the first 24 hours after release. (In fact, the clip trailed just...

Here Are All the Drive-In Concerts Happening Due to Social Distancing

As the ongoing coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc on the live music industry, enterprising artists and venues around the country are being forced to think outside the box when it comes to playing for an audience. The most recent innovative solution? Drive-in concerts, which have started springing up as an alternative to standing in a packed crowd to see your favorite musician. From an underground show in Los Angeles to Keith Urban becoming the first major star to hop on the trend, Billboard has rounded up a list of drive-in concerts across the country since the beginning of the coronavirus outbreak. We’ll update this list as more drive-in shows are announced. July 10-11: Andrew McMahon will be performing the Jack’s Mannequin album Everything in Transit as well as mus...

Universal Music UK Reboots EMI Records With Rebecca Allen at the Helm

Universal Music Group is relaunching EMI Records, the iconic British record label which UMG acquired for $1.9 billion in 2012. As part of the relaunch, UMG’s Virgin EMI is renamed EMI Records, effective immediately. The Virgin Records imprint will continue under the new EMI Records banner. At the helm is newly-appointed EMI president Rebecca Allen, a 20-year UMG veteran and former Billboard Women In Music honoree. Melvins and Mudhoney Cover Black Flag and Neil Young on New EP

Members of the Melvins and Mudhoney have joined forces for a new EP titled White Lazy Boy. On the four-song collection, which was released last week via Amphetamine Reptile Records, you can hear Mudhoney’s Mark Arm and Steve Turner jam with Buzzo, Dale Cromer and bassist Steve McDonald. Great news, right? Not so fast. The EP was issued on CD (remember those?) and, it’s completely sold out. Thankfully, due to the joys of the internet, the covers of Black Flag’s “My War” and Neil Young’s “Drive Back” are online. But what the Seattle legends do is rip, and they certainly let it fly on these tracks. White Lazy Boy is out now — if you can get your hands on it. Listen to the songs below.
