GRiZ Celebrates 30th Birthday with Funky New Single and Kaleidoscopic Music Video

EDM’s in-house funk master general, GRiZ, is celebrating his 30th birthday today by releasing a new single called “Solo.” “Solo” features hip-hop and R&B singer-songwriter and frequent collaborator ProbCause, who infuses a splash of soul into the ambient funk ballad. Along with the single’s release came an accompanying music video that is quintessential GRiZ. During the video’s entirety, GRiZ dances on his rooftop under a picturesque sky, which is overlaid with neon filters to create a kaleidoscopic effect. It harkens back to GRiZ’s pre-pandemic “Imaginarium” live production, which was marked by an awe-inspiring symphony of polychromatic lasers. “Solo” is the first single off GRiZ’s forthcoming Chasing The Go...

G-Eazy Drops New Marshmello-Produced Track “Stan By Me”

Ahead of the release of his upcoming album Everything’s Strange Here, G-Eazy has reunited with Marshmello for the poolside singalong, “Stan By Me.” Released just one week after the debut single from the album, “Free Porn Cheap Drugs,” G-Eazy’s shift in style is very apparent. While his songs are traditionally rapped, his two newest releases see him show off his singing voice.  Despite being produced by one of EDM’s biggest names, the track is not electronic in nature. The masked producer flaunts his production flexibility with a gentle, guitar-led groove intertwined with bubbly drums that can’t help but make you think of the beach. “Stan By Me” is not the first time these two artists have collaborated. Back...

Zedd Featured in Star-Studded Alien Ant Farm Music Video

In the most unexpected crossover of the year, Zedd was featured in the newest music video from 90s nu-metal band Alien Ant Farm. On the band’s latest track, they covered Wham!‘s 1984 classic “Everything She Wants.” While they’re certainly no stranger to providing rock spins to pop songs, they decided to take their music video in a different direction and feature tons of special guests. Although many of the featured cameos were fans or bands from the same era as Alien Ant Farm, EDM lovers’ ears perked up when they saw one of the biggest names in the genre appear. For those having trouble finding the electronic music easter egg, the brief shot of him smiling and playing air drums happens just after the 1:50 mark.  Surprising to some, Zedd su...

Killer Mike on How White People Can Help: ‘It Is Being a Part of Fixing It Always’

Last Friday, Killer Mike delivered a powerful, poignant speech directed at protestors in Atlanta. And on Monday night, he went on the Late Show With Stephen Colbert to expound on those points. In the segment, he discussed the speech from Friday, where he and T.I. spoke at Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms’ press conference after spending a day promoting their food truck in the city before the protests. “He spoke and then beckoned me to speak,” Mike said. “All I said was purely in my heart.” He went on to mention grassroots groups like New Georgia Project, Movement for Black Lives, the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition. The Run the Jewels rapper outlined what he called “Homework for all of White America.” “If there’s a riot going on in the streets, you gotta start to und...

Pussy Riot Share New Song “1312” Railing Against Police Brutality: Stream

This past week has been rife in police protests, rampant looting, burning buildings, and a blatant lack of equality following the death of George Floyd. During all of this, President Donald Trump has been, to quote Taylor Swift, “stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism.” So it was only a matter of time until politically driven punk group Pussy Riot stepped in to write “1312”, a new song about ending police brutality. “1312” sees the Russian group collaborating with Argentinean artists Parcas, Dillom, and Muerejoven as a form of solidarity — similarly to their Vic Mensa track “Hangerz” — to honor “the bravery and strength shown in front of abusive police forces” at Chilean protests. Musically, “1312” is a hybrid of blown-out grunge beats, throat-scratching screams, punk rock br...

Disney Deploys Stormtroopers to Remind Patrons of Social Distancing

While Disney World in Orlando won’t reopen until next month, the House of Mouse recently revived the outdoor shopping center at Disney Springs. New coronavirus safety measures include reduced capacity, mandatory face masks, and a pair of bumbling First Order stormtroopers reminding patrons to maintain social distancing. In a video posted by Attractions Magazine, the stormtroopers are much closer to entertainment than security. They stand above visitors on a balcony, pointing prop guns skywards, while scripted dialogue is piped through loudspeakers. Even from the few snippets, their distinct personalities come through. The male trooper is a grating brown-noser, while the female soldier hates her job and wishes she could be anywhere else. This tension between them provides an excuse for...
