Ice Cube was scheduled to make an appearance on ABC’s Good Morning America earlier this morning (May 28). But after the killing of George Floyd on May 25, he decided to cancel. “I apologize to everyone expecting to see me on Good Morning America today,” he tweeted, “but after the events in Minnesota with George Floyd I’m in no mood to tell America, good morning.” Fans responded to his cancelation and hoped he would use the GMA appearance as a platform to share what he’s been expressing on social media. However, the N.W.A. rapper said he was done. “I’m done talking,” he tweeted. “These people know right from wrong and they obviously don’t care. So what we talking about?” After footage documenting how Floyd died surfaced online, the legendary rapper didn’t hold back on his feelings regarding...

HBO Max launched yesterday with a slew of original programming, which included a late-nights hosted by Elmo and is a parody of other late-night shows. To get things kicked off on The Not-Too-Late Show With Elmo, Kacey Musgraves and Lil Nas X dropped by to perform a couple of Sesame Street classics. Musgraves sang Ernie’s “Rubber Duckie,” while Lil Nas X and Elmo appropriately collaborated on “Elmo’s Song.” If you’re not into it, maybe a younger person you know might be? Any port in a storm? Not exactly, argues former Daisy Chainsaw/Ruby Throat — and now Liar, Flower — frontwoman Katie Jane Garside, who not only grew up at sea with her sister and sloop-loving parents but recently returned from a four-year, often danger-fraught voyage around the world with her significant other and musical partner Chris Whittingham and their eight-year-old daughter Leilani. In their trusty, storm-battered sailboat Iona, the family traveled from Falmouth through the Canary, Galapagos, and the Marquesas Islands before heading down to New Zealand, Australia, Mauritius, South Africa, and the Azores. And choosing the proper port was of paramount importance. It could be a life-or-death decision. “You aim for more forgotten, less frequented moorings, so we would anchor as far from...
After throwing fans a curveball last week with the airing of their 2011 film The King of Limbs From the Basement, Radiohead will go back to their regularly scheduled streaming programming. This week, Radiohead will roll back the years to nearly their beginnings, streaming a show from the Astoria in London from 1994. Taking place on May 27, 1994, the show is one of the more famous of their earlier shows. The show has been the subject of many bootlegs over the years, but this is clearly the defining video version of that performance. Radiohead released Live at the Astoria on VHS in March 1994 and on DVD in 2005. Radiohead jammed through 17 songs, including “Creep,” “My Iron Lung,” and “Fake Plastic Trees. Previously, Radiohead has posted festival sets from Coachella&...
311 frontman Nick Hexum and vaporwave icon George Clanton announced that they’re teaming up for an album, the aptly titled George Clanton & Nick Hexum. While the album won’t be out until July 23, the duo dropped “Aurora Summer” today to give fans a taste of what to expect over the next couple of months. “This album is a collab no one asked for or predicted,” Clanton said in a statement. “There isn’t a big overlap in fan bases here, but I think Nick and I share the same musical ethos. Nick has never pandered to a mainstream audience with his work in 311, they’ve always done their own thing and built their own culture around the music they wanted to make. I believe in that, and I’ve been doing my own thing for 10 years now. Nick certainly doesn’t NEED to do this collab, and I’ve never do...

There’s also “Younger Us” and “The House That Heaven Built”, a favorite off 2012’s Celebration Rock and one of the best songs of the last decade. Additionally, the band’s now-classic 2009 debut, Post-Nothing, is well-represented with singles like “Heart Sweats” and “Young Hearts Spark Fire”. “We never thought...
