Nigerian Police Exposed Rumours of singer, Burna Boy’s Arrest, Affirms He Was Never Captured

The Lagos State Police has responded to claims that Nigerian artiste, Burna Boy is in their authority. Nigerian singer, Burna Boy was supposedly said to have been captured after his neighbors mourned over the clamor originating from his home. It was even expressed that he is yet to settle up the total N100,000,000 for the land he constructed his territory on. Because of this, the artist and his father were said to have been captured. As indicated by NetNG, the Lagos State Police PRO, DSP Bala Elkana affirms that the singer was never captured. He exposed the news and plainly expressed that Burna Boy had not been captured yesterday as the reports guarantee. He stated, “They just recycled an old story. There was something that happened a very long time ago and it was resolved then. It’s not a...

Diplo Debuts Unreleased Nicki Minaj and Major Lazer Collaboration

During one of his daily quarantine livestream parties, Diplo casually dropped a mammoth collaboration. Seemingly out of the blue, the musical renaissance man debuted a new Major Lazer track featuring Nicki Minaj and Mr Eazi. A fan uploaded a clip of the unreleased tune to Twitter to help out those who might have missed it.  While the clip is quite short, you can clearly hear Nicki Minaj’s hallmark vocals over a classic Major Lazer beat. Unfortunately, in the short clip, we’re not able to get a taste of Mr Eazi’s contribution to the track, but the provided song ID at the top of the stream confirms his involvement. The aforementioned song is not the only pop crossover Major Lazer has up their sleeves, as back in March, Diplo debuted a remix of The Weeknd‘s &...

Iconic DJ and Producer Black Coffee Buys Significant Portion of South Africa’s Oldest Indie Label

Earlier in the year, Gallo Record Company, South Africa’s oldest independent record label, was purchased by Lebashe Investment Group. Recently, it was revealed that iconic South African DJ and producer Black Coffee has acquired a significant stake in the label. Gallo Record Company was founded in 1926 and has been going strong ever since, with many major releases under its belt.  Black Coffee used his investment arm FlightMode Digital to acquire the shares. The Brothers Macklovitch, A-Trak and Dave-1 of Chromeo, Announce New Music Coming This Week

After tormenting the dance music world back in January 2020 by releasing their stellar debut streaming effort, The Brothers Macklovitch are finally back after a near 4-month gap. According to A-Trak, the brother of Dave-1 of Chromeo, the two are planning on releasing new music this week under their brotherly moniker. When A-Trak and Dave-1 debuted The Brothers Macklovitch, it wasn’t the first time they’d collaborated in a professional capacity. Way back in 1997, they founded the Montreal-based record label Audio Research, which they used as a conduit to release music for their hip-hop crew Obscure Disorder. They have come a long way since their days in Montreal’s underground hip-hop scene, of course, as both have emerged as prolific DJs and produc...

JPEGMAFIA Is a “CUTIE PIE!” in His New Song: Stream

JPEGMAFIA is always a ball of energy, but 2020 appears to be the year where he lets off creative steam at every opportunity that arises. Today, the experimental rapper has released his fifth (!) new single of the year, “CUTIE PIE!”, alongside a low-res music video. Since dropping his album All My Heroes Are Cornballs last fall, JPEGMAFIA has shared a string of exclamatory tracks that read like flyer announcements thanks to names like “BALD!”, “BODYGUARD!”, and “Covered in Money!”. Clearly, this new single “CUTIE PIE!” continues the trend. “CUTIE PIE!” opens with a lo-fi percussion beat that sounds like it’s being recorded to an iPhone and a slinky bass beat. Combined, the rhythm section is a throwback to ’90s hip-hop — and JPEGMAFIA keeps that mood going by spitting nonstop verses in a mon...

#MetallicaMondays: Watch Metallica’s 2014 “By Request” Peru Show

Metallica’s weekly concert-streaming series #MetallicaMondays continues with a March 2014 show from Lima, Peru, which took place as part of the band’s “By Request” tour. The outing allowed fans to help pick the set for each gig. The 2014 trek offered online song polls for each city, and the sets were determined by fan voting. While most of the 18-song setlist for the Lima show featured Metallica’s usual concert staples like “Master of Puppets” and “Enter Sandman”, there were a few surprises such “Fight Fire With Fire” from Ride the Lightning and the “Vote of the Day” selection “Hit the Lights” from the band’s 1983 debut, Kill ‘Em All. Last week, Metallica shared a show that took place in Chicago in August 1983, just a few weeks after they had released Kill ‘Em All. Overall, the #MetallicaM...

New COVID-19 Protective Suit Designed Specifically for Concerts and Festivals

As government officials begin planning how to reopen their states amid the coronavirus pandemic, music fans everywhere are wondering when, if at all, it will be safe to attend concerts again. While drive-in concerts and socially distanced shows, seem like sensible short-term alternatives, one company has taken upon itself to invent a more catch-all solution. Production Club usually spends its days working on “stages and experiences” for clients in gaming, technology, and music industries. After seeing news reports about people flooding to beaches without proper protection, though, the creative studio began brainstorming ways to help out their communities directly. They came up with the Micrashell, a protective suit people can wear to music festivals and clubs to prevent the ...

Netflix’s Space Force Is A Waste of Space, Talent, Resources, Time: Review

The Pitch: In the Summer of 2018, the U.S. government announced a sixth branch of the armed forces, to be called the “Space Force.” A nation scratched their heads, but President Donald J. Trump tweeted out “Space Force all the way!” to the delight of his neo-conservative base and those who still think the current administration taps into a rich vein of comedy. It played to the tune of 128,000 likes. In January 2019, Netflix announced a new series based on the venture, to be developed by The Office’s Greg Daniels and Steve Carrell, with the latter starring. And now, for May 2020, Netflix’s Space Force arrives with a veritable Right Stuff-grade line-up of sitcom stars – Carrell, Lisa Kudrow, Jimmy O. Yang, Ben Schwartz, Jane Lynch, Patrick Warburton, the late Fred Willard, and on and on – wi...
