Here at Who What Wear, we believe in the power of accessories. That’s why we’ve dedicated an entire series—Successorise—to it. After all, nothing has the ability to overhaul your outfits quite like a well-chosen sparkly hair grip or an elegant pair of earrings worn with a messy low bun. The same, naturally, applies to handbags. Handbags are covetable—this we know—and while my own personal wish lists will always include the classics (think Chanel, Gucci, Hermès—the dream), nothing gives me quite the same thrill as discovering a new It-bag brand. When I started researching the best new bag brands for this piece, I consulted both Instagram and the trend reports of Matches, Net-a-Porter, and MyTheresa. And now, after hours of searching, I can confirm that these are the handbag bran...
After the last few months, it’s hard to remember the time when celebrities huddled together on the FROW, embraced one another on the red carpet, or popped to Balthazar for lunch. And my how we took these sighting for granted. Now that mask-wearing is mandatory, outfits are incognito, and events have been put on hold, only photographers blessed with 20/20 vision seem to have a chance at capturing the stars (and their attire) as they go about their day. However, there is one A-lister who has remained sartorially consistent throughout the year, and whose looks have filled the celebrity street style hole in our lives: Hailey Bieber. Unlike other famous faces who have leaned into the casual dressing vibe, Hailey’s looks have been just as chic as they were pre-lockdown; if not,...
Here at Who What Wear UK, we’re all about delivering the latest and greatest shopping edits, as approved by our team. That’s why we’ve created The Joy of Shopping, a shopping column which will see me, Joy Montgomery, discussing the brands, buys, and ideas that are preoccupying my mind this month—think homewares, outerwear, and everything in-between. Is there something you’d like me to cover? Make sure to tweet or Instagram me your requests! After a (not so brief) hiatus, The Joy of Shopping has finally returned, bringing with it a whole new look to match the new world that we find ourselves in. Hurrah! So it’s goodbye to changing-room selfies and hello to online shopping in all its ...
Shoes. Remember those? All right, so we may be being a touch dramatic, but there’s no denying that, over the past year, shoes (and bags for that matter), have taken a back seat and, instead, we’ve developed some new shopping habits. In lieu of treating ourselves to a new pair of heels to wear with your elegant wedding guest dress, we snapped up loungewear, knits, and candles in numbers never before seen. Still, that was last 2020 and right now we’re focussed on being optimistic; optimistic that our daily outfits in 2021 will call for something other than a slipper (don’t worry though, they’re not completely obsolete). So, which shoe trends are we kicking 2021 off with? We’re sure you’ll be pleased to hear that c...
If you’re old enough to have had a Spice Girls poster hanging in your childhood bedroom, you’re likely in your 30s now. Congratulations are in order; you survived the unfortunate fashion of the early 2000s and the uncertainty of your 20s. You, my friend, are a boss. But along with all the benefits that come with this glorious decade, also comes the responsibility to learn how best to take care of our skin in this new phase of life. So, if you are yet to update your regimen, it’s probably time to recalibrate. In our experience, online reviews are a solid way to discover new products, so we raided the comments section of our favourite online retailers to pin-point exactly which lotions and potions women in their 30s are loving. You Deserve...

If there’s one word which best summarises our autumn/winter 2020 wardrobe, it would have to be “woollen.” Whether it’s knitted vests, jumper dresses, chunky cable-knit jumpers, or cheeky cashmere joggers, it’s probably the fabric which has best matched our mood over the last few months, something that shows no sign of changing as we enter a chilly lockdown 3.0. It might comes as a surprise that 20 percent of the world’s cotton is produced by forced labour in Xinjiang, China — and this has to end. The Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI), an independent UK organisation that monitors ethical supply chains, started a call to action against human rights violations in China’s Uyghur region, and Marks & Spencer is one of the first major retailers to formally sign the petition. “The coalition is calling on leading brands and retailers to ensure that they are not supporting or benefiting from the pervasive and extensive forced labour of the Uyghur population and other Turkic and Muslim-majority peoples, perpetrated by the Chinese government,” said The Coalition to End Forced Labour in the Uyghur Region on its website. More than 80...
There’s more than one secret to good skin, and it just takes some time to find the answer suited for you. While the journey to healthy skin can sometimes be frustrating when you’ve been steered in the right direction, it’s an amazing relief when you finally discover products that actually work. Luckily, these days, skincare enthusiasts are more than happy to share their favourite skincare products, failsafe routines, and dermatology treatments—as opposed to just thanking their genetics. To help start the year with a fresh new skincare regime—or at the very least some new products to play with—I asked four women with amazing skin which products they love the most. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating sho...
It might seem counter-intuitive that people have invested in jewellery during the pandemic. But that’s exactly what has happened. Along with beauty products, sweatpants, and slippers, sales of jewellery have increased. Okay, I’ve never worked in fashion during a pandemic, but I can see exactly why we’ve been more ready to buy jewellery than before—they’re small luxuries that make us feel good about ourselves on a daily basis. And when you can’t get excited about wearing your favourite dress, your neck, ears, hands, and wrists become the places to show off something you love. Liane Wiggins, head of womenswear buying at MatchesFashion, revealed during the S/S 2021 trend report that the retailer has seen an increase in jewellery, “as more peo...

I know from my own experience that planning a wedding can take months. You spend endless hours deciding what your guests are going to eat, what booze they’re going to drink and even which napkins they’ll wipe their mouths on. While this is all important stuff, it doesn’t really compare to deciding on which outfit you’re going to wear. Of course, 2020 had different plans for those who had their weddings coming up during the year, and plenty of nuptials have had to be cancelled as a result of the pandemic. If there’s one silver lining we hope we can provide for you, it’s that if you’re planning on getting married at some point then you have more time to decide what you’re going to wear. And if budgets are smaller than you ha...
