If you’re anything like us, you’ll have been looking for different ways to feel fancy this season. Maybe you treated yourself to something new to see you through both Christmas Day and New Year’s Eve, or perhaps you dusted off and re-wore something from occasions gone by. But really, you needn’t default to sparkles to make yourself feel pulled together. Sometimes it’s the littlest things that can make your attire look polished. Making an effort to put on jewellery, gold hoops, for example, is a small gesture that can elevate your day-to-day attire. Swapping your slippers for a pair of chic-looking house shoes (along the lines of these shearling-lined Birkenstocks) will also do the trick. But, one of the easiest ways to make your at-home ensembles feel more lux...
If H&M wasn’t on your shopping radar before 2020, chances are that, now, it absolutely is. Even in the face of a harsh retail market, the high street mega brand has had a knockout year, and seemed to have a knack for designing the pieces we actually wanted to wear in that precise moment, before we even knew we needed them in our wardrobes. Many of these items were so in-demand, they proceeded to sell out faster than banana loaf baking tins. Now, to list every H&M best-selling item of 2020 would likely take hours and would require the entire Who What Wear team to down tools and pour all their energy into it. So, we decided to take a sartorial walk down memory lane to revisit the cult H&M pieces that you can still buy a very good homage of. Fr...
First things first, do a proper clear-out. Marie Kondo, the master of decluttering whose first book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up has sold 5 million copies and counting, says the question you have to ask yourself when deciding whether to get rid of something is along the lines of “Does it bring me joy?” A vintage ruffled skirt I got some years ago that came with complimentary tea stains and jeans so tight I have to lie down to do them up definitely don’t—so why have I kept them? (A mix of laziness and the optimistic thought that I might attempt some stain removal/lose some tummy rolls.) I’ve finally accepted neither will happen, so both have been sorted into recycling and charity bags respectively. Side note: Research has found that an estimated 235 million items of unwan...

At around this time every year, the beauty industry starts looking back. Brands analyse sales data and marketing successes, retailers and buying teams look at growing trends, while beauty editors and influencers trawl through the past 12 months’ worth of content to see what worked and what didn’t. The aim, of course, is to create some sort of yearly overview that will help predict the trends for the following year and essentially form some sort of plan. And with heaps of figures, data and research, it’s safe to say that more often than not, things pan out as expected, with the industry running like clockwork year in, year out, based off its forecasts. This year, however, beauty got a reality check. For many moons, the industry has been composing a particularly lucrative narrative: The elix...
Another thing we’ve spent inordinate amounts of time doing these last few months is scrolling on Instagram, and we soon began to realise that there was one particular piece that was following us on the platform: an Arket blanket. Devotees of the minimal style hotspot will already know that Arket boasts a thoughtful interiors edit, featuring sleek vases, plates, glassware, and textiles. However, the brand’s standout homeware buy is undoubtedly a blanket featuring a stylised foliage motif, which comes in an array of colours. Made exclusively for Market by Swedish woollen mill, Klippan Yllefabrik, it’s a thing of beauty that has caught the eye of many an interior enthusiast this year. So much so, our friends at Arket say it has been an unexpected best-seller, having sold out more times than a...
Over the last few months, we’ve been calling upon you, our lovely readers, to tell us exactly what it is you’re looking for from Who What Wear during these strange times. Alongside plenty of calls for fashion-based escapism, wardrobe basics and at-home beauty, we also got inundated with requests for how to mix up your style without spending a penny. Well, you ask and it shall be given. It’s all too easy to become apathetic to those old faithfuls that have been hanging in your wardrobes for years. Once they’ve lost the shiny appeal of newness, they can fade into the background and become part of the sartorial wallpaper. However, in our experience, all these items need is a little re-contextualising, something to take them out of their stagnancy and help them to ...

My friends often joke that my wardrobe looks like a stock room. The reason? Because it’s filled with large quantities of the seemingly same item. From blue, straight-leg jeans and dark floral dresses to top-handle bags and checked skirts—what can I say? I know what I like! And the garment I have more of than anything else? Hands down, it’s got to be cream jumpers. Basic it may be, but in my opinion, there’s nothing that looks quite as chic as a cream jumper. Worn with the aforementioned blue jeans and checked skirts (or even over my dark floral dresses), barely a winter day goes by when I don’t wear cream knitwear. And it seems I’m not the only one. So many of my fashion friends have been wearing this staple of late, and to very stylish avail. Keep scrolling to see the coolest cream jumper...
“The coat I always think looks the most expensive is, believe it or not, an oversized coat; especially if you’re wearing tighter clothes underneath like slim jeans. I know people are sometimes afraid to take a bigger size because they think the proportions will be way off, but sizing up from can make a huge difference to the overall silhouette. What I love about this trick is that it also makes it easier to layer with thicker knitwear while still feeling comfortable. That said, as well as oversized outerwear, this season, I’m also really loving the belted coat. I look for long options as they feel elegant. Whichever coat style you choose, again pay attention to the materials and make sure you’re buoy quality. Colour-wise, I always opt for neutrals like black, white, beige, brown, navy, and...

Eagle-eyed hardcore fans had some beef with the historical accuracy of a Cro-Mags T-shirt in the new movie Wonder Woman 1984, but the band’s longtime singer quickly put those questions to rest. In fact, it was John Joseph who sent the shirt to director Patty Jenkins for use in the film. The scene in question shows a group of punk rockers walking through Washington, D.C.’s Metro station, sporting Mohawks and band t-shirts. One of the punks is donning a Bad Brains shirt, while another is wearing a tee featuring the artwork from the Cro-Mags album The Age of Quarrel. Problem is the film is set in 1984, but that Cro-Mags LP didn’t arrive until 1986. That led hordes of hardcore punk fans to hit social media to call out the movie for a fashion faux pas. However, Joseph was quick to point out tha...
