Holy Moly—Zara’s Sale Just Suddenly Started

And if you want more pointers, we have an insider who gave us some valuable tips on how to shop the Zara sale in the UK so expertly that you’ll be guaranteed to get there first (and find the pieces you’ve been eyeing up all season).  Our intel is that you should go for the things that’ll be the most popular first. So opt for the higher-priced goods that will sell out quickly (e.g., cashmere, handbags, shoes and coats). “Other pieces like shirts are likely to still be around for the second markdown,” recommends our insider. Also remember to research trends before buying for the upcoming season so you can see what will last. “Customers will always ask, ‘Will you be getting more stuff like this?’ Honestly, the staff will have no i...

This “Boring” Hairstyle Is Ideal for 2020’s Alternative Party Season

I’m rubbish at doing my hair. There; I said it. I remember, as the girls in my class at school nimbly crafted French plaits in one another’s hair, there I was, struggling to get my pigtails to sit symmetrically. Fast-forward a few – okay, twenty – years, and I’m still just as inept at doing anything remotely interesting with my hair. That said, there is one style I’ve come to master, particularly over the last few months: The ponytail. I always wear my hair down or, at a push, in a low messy bun, reserving ponytails for my infrequent trips to the gym. However, I’ve realised that the ponytail, while undoubtedly practical, can also be wholly chic and is, in fact, the perfect party hairstyle for 2020 that anyone can do—myself included. Everywhere I look...

Love Princess Diana’s ’90s Style? Here’s How to Recreate the Royal’s Most Rebellious Outfits

When flipping through the coolest photos of Princess Diana, there’s always one thing that runs through my mind — imagine if a royal were to wear bike shorts today? The scandal! Even more than her inimitable fashion sense was her rebellious spirit, which is why I am more than okay with Diana’s ’90s style shaping our wardrobes once again. Around the time of Diana’s divorce from Prince Charles between 1991 and 1996, the Princess of Wales began wearing very short and slinky dresses to public engagements. When off-duty, she would wear surprisingly casual — and American — pieces like cowboy boots, baseball caps, and bike shorts. The “revenge dress” was perhaps the princess’s most iconic fashion moment, when she turned up to a 1994 Serpentine summer party...

The Naked Laundry Wants to Make Wearing Indian Clothing Accessible

The Naked Laundry is a new clothing brand founded by Nikita Ladwa for South-Asian women everywhere. It specialises in crop tops that double as sari blouses and its aim is to put the stressful blouse-fitting saga to an end, once and for all. Targeted at Asian women in the UK, the brand also has a pretty solid presence in India — and we caught up with Nikita to find out why she launched The Naked Laundry and the inspiration behind her favourite pieces. POPSUGAR: Tell us a little bit about how the brand came about and what made you want to start it. “If you do lose a few pounds here and there, you can still fit into the size. It is satin and it’s stretchable, so it’s super comfy as well.” Nikita: The Naked Laundry came about a few years back, when I was at university a...

Alighieri Launches Charity Jewellery Collection to Support Victims of Domestic Violence

Global cases of domestic violence rose by 20 percent in 2020, with one-fifth of all crimes reported in the UK’s first lockdown involving abuse in the home. With many victims still trapped inside with their abuser, British jewellery brand Alighieri responded with a dedicated capsule collection of five necklaces, with 100 percent proceeds going towards domestic abuse support charity Refuge. Alighieri’s founder Rosh Mahtani began a partnership with Refuge in May after hearing about the rise in domestic abuse cases. Since then, the brand donated 10 percent of online sales to Refuge and raised over £65,000 for the charity. To take the support further, Alighieri is launching a charity jewellery collection of five pieces to mark Refuge’s 50th anniversary. The first piece of the ...

Rosie HW Has Confirmed This Zara Staple Is Going to Be Huge in 2021

When it comes to fashion, I generally abide by the rule: “If it’s good enough for Rosie HW, it’s good enough for me.” The supermodel is inherently chic and possesses an aesthetic which could accurately be described as a minimalist’s dream. In truth though, it’s probably not the most realistic mantra, given the fact that Rosie’s wardrobe predominantly consists of designer wares from the likes of Bottega Veneta, The Row and Totême.  However, in a recent Instagram Ask Me Anything, the model revealed that there are some elements of her wardrobe which are a little more attainable. When asked by a fan for a list of the staples she always has in her closet, Rosie named Zara as her number one go-to for bodysuits. (Of cour...

This Bikini Trend Is Suddenly Over

We’ve already highlighted the coolest new swim trends for this year despite a lack of holiday action, and ahead I’m breaking down the styles A-listers are getting behind—aka the most popular celebrity bikini trends this year—and the one trend that celebs are notably skipping. Looking to A-list beach outfits, barely-there bikinis are being embraced in a huge way. String bikinis and triangle tops are being endorsed by celebs like Bella Hadid and the J. Lo. On the other end of the spectrum, we’re seeing celebs like Kylie Jenner and Emily Ratajkowski wearing inventive one-pieces that range from belted swimsuits to styles with cutouts. The one style we’re not seeing celebrities wear right now? High-waisted bikinis. The silhouette has been hugely popular in...

The Under-£100 High-Street Buys That I Love This Month

Here at Who What Wear UK, we firmly believe that you don’t need to part with serious cash to get your hands on that perfect mood-lifting look, and with the high street offering up plenty of winning spring buys right now (thank you, Arket, Mango, H&M et al), giving your wardrobe a refresh just got a little bit easier. Add to this the fact that the high street is longer reserved for transient trends (and instead, developing its offering of time-tested staples) and you’ve got yourself a winning combo. Case in point: On our wish lists this month is everything from H&M’s chic chunky knit and Arket’s knitted vest to COS’ tailored trousers and ASOS’ combat boo...

Forget High-Maintenance Fringes, This Easy Style Will Be Everywhere Next Year

Fringe-lovers, listen up. There’s no doubt that 2020 has been a turbulent year for the trusty fringe. From at-home cuts to lash-skimming growth, our fringes have been through it over the past 12 months. However, that’s not to say it’s time to give up on them just yet. As with most areas of our lives right now, our fringe styles might just have to adapt slightly going forward. Whereas blunt, full fringes were all we could talk about at the start of the year, it might be time to adopt an easier, lower-maintenance approach for 2021. What if we told you there’s a new fringe on the block and it allows you to reap the face-framing benefits of a classic fringe, without the upkeep? Taking inspiration from the iconic Bardot fringe, the curtain fringe is set to be big...

I Know Thousands of Fashion Brands, But It’s These 10 That I Always Go Back To

As an editor at Who What Wear, I look at the collections of hundreds, if not thousands, of fashion brands in a year. I get emails and Instagram messages every day introducing me to new brands. However, when it comes to my own wardrobe, I tend to stay loyal to the same fashion brands that I know suit me and my personal style. Below, I’ve listed my top 10 brands, and what they all have in common is that they create beautiful pieces that are of a high quality and have a timeless aesthetic.  As several warehouses and stores shuttered this year due to the global pandemic, the fashion industry has faced huge challenges and strains that pose an inevitable threat to businesses. Within my role as a fashion writer this year, I certainly haven’t wanted to make anyone feel like t...
