I’ve already professed my love of candles, but I found my collection mainly consisted of either pillar or those hand-poured into glass jars, so I decided to switch things up with a set of tapers. Their initial appeal was that they looked instantly fancy but what I found is that, when lit, they create a beautiful atmosphere and make the moment feel significantly more special. They’re also great for adding height to a tablescape, which makes it all the more visually exciting and appealing. What’s more, I’ve found that most taper candles are unscented, and therefore don’t create a fragrance clash with the food I’m serving. “A perfectly lit taper candle can be quite memorising,” says Tony Jack, founder of Fairholme candles. “The way the wax drips down the candle and onto a candlestick holder o...
I’m going to make an assumption here that you own a white T-shirt or a white shirt, which means that, unless you’re purposely going for the showing-off-the-black-bra-underneath vibe, you need a decent nude bra. However—and let’s be honest—the term “nude” has often referred to pale skin tones rather than all skin tones. Thankfully, plenty of lingerie brands have moved on from this (even though there’s a long way to go for others) and there are now more brands than ever that offer a decent range of nude underwear for all skin tones. There’s Heist, which is personally one of my favourite places to shop tights, but it’s also great for underwear. From shapewear to bras, the brand offers so many gorgeous pieces that you don...
Trying to nail the perfect, natural-looking glow is certainly no mean feat. Trust me, I’ve been trying to suss it out for years. It seems some people are just born with a radiant complexion that oozes luminosity and health. In a bid to replicate this glow, I have tried virtually every single highlighting makeup product under the sun, and I am yet to find a formula that doesn’t give the game away somehow. Whether it’s chunky bits of glitter or my lack of ability to apply it to the most natural-looking places, I have been forced to admit defeat when it comes to highlight. So, with highlighters out of the question, I have had to think outside of the box when it comes to upping my glow game. From primers to serums and cleansers to foundations, I have searched high and low f...

Do leopard-print coats ever go out of fashion? We’d argue that they never do. Thanks to the likes of modern muses Kate Moss and Alexa Chung, this particular coat or jacket is always a great way to make an outfit suddenly more fabulous. So what do you need to know about 2020’s version of leopard-print outerwear? A couple of years ago, we were all after Victoria Beckham‘s new twist on the look. She gave it a whole new feel with her wide lapel and belted version. It was less about the oversize faux-fur look and more about making the coat super elegant. However, in 2020, there is a return to the classic faux-fur look, with the likes of Gucci producing some much-needed fabulousness with its over-the-top cuffed coat. Then there’s a sleek silk-twill iteration from Ga...

If, like me, you’re a big Byredo fan (or to be honest, even if you’re not), you’ll likely be aware of the eye-watering price tags that hang on their perfumes. When it comes to the scents themselves, though, their uniqueness and beauty goes unrivalled. Not only do the bottles look chic as hell on the shelf, what they hold is equally as appealing. Ouai, on the other hand, is a luxe haircare line that oozes the same sense of chicness, but it has an affordability to it that Byredo certainly does not. While your average Ouai haircare product might set you back something like £25, a bottle of Byredo perfume will cost over £100. So what if you had a product that smelled like Byredo but delivered results and cost the same as Ouai? Enter, Ouai X Byredo Super Dry Shampoo Mojave Ghost, £20. You Deser...
Marks and Spencer is one of our favourite places to shop for long-lasting wardrobe staples and has a strong track record of every day turning basics into cult items, whether it’s a grey jumper or a beige wrap coat. I am most impressed by M&S’ footwear department, and wear a pair of ballet pumps at least nine days out of ten, as they are the comfiest shoes I own. These £35 pumps have a high cut and a gentle V towards the toe, which make them appear more elevated that the classic almond toe. There’s something a little Phoebe Philo about this silhouette, no? I personally stick to the black pair, however they are also available in lavender, camel, leopard print, red and navy blue. Ballet pumps were the height of cool circa 2008 tha...

& Other Stories is a safe bet for most items you could ever want to buy. The midi dresses are always crowd-pleasers, the coats have long been a fashion-girl favourite and even the knickers and bras are excellent. But there is one section that is making us all want to shop: the cardigans. So far, 2020 has been the year of the cardigan (partly down to Katie Holmes and that viral cardi, not to mention a lot of time spent at home), and & Other Stories has quite simply the best selection on the high street. If you want something with a little personality, we love the ones adorned with gold heart buttons. There are also so many silhouettes to pick from—from short-sleeved pastel cropped knits that have something so “Princess Diana” about them to oversized wrap cardig...
Nathalie Emmanuel walked the red carpet for the premiere of Italian film Revenge Room by Diego Botta at the 77th Venice Film Festival on Monday, 7 Sept. The Game of Thrones actor wore a head-to-toe casual but elegant outfit designed by Miu Miu, which continues her ambassadorship for the brand’s “Miu Miu Women’s Tales” campaign. Emmanuel’s look for Revenge Room was extremely wearable, featuring a relaxed white t-shirt printed with a scene from the “Miu Miu Women’s Tales” film series and a cobalt blue midi-length silk-satin skirt. The t-shirt showed a scene from the “Miu Miu Women’s Tales” short film The Door, which is both directed by an award-winning Black female director, Ava DuVernay, and features an all-female cast of acc...
Things you don’t typically see being worn on the morning school run: ballgowns, funeral attire, and satin pyjamas. Oh, and a jumper that says “world’s smallest p*ssy” worn over the top of the most fabulous feather-hemmed pyjamas. But that’s exactly what we see Katherine Ryan wearing at the school gates in her new scripted Netflix series The Duchess. The styling in the opening scene is just a slice of what’s to come in the rest of the show and plays an important role in the narrative. The Duchess is Ryan’s first-scripted series that she not only stars in, but also wrote and produced. The six-part, semi-biographical series follows a single mum whose name is also Katherine ( confusing, yes, but Katherine the comedian said she was “too lazy”...
