As anyone who is an avid Who What Wear reader will know, when it comes to looking for outfit inspiration, one of my top tips is to head to those brands that know what they’re doing when it comes to e-commerce styling. It can be tricky to hunt them down, but when you have a list of your favourites, they’re sure to become a go-to when you’re feeling lost for ideas. Joseph is one of my personal highlights, thanks to its luxe approach to basics and elegant pairings, and I have to say that the brand’s autumn/winter looks are the best I’ve seen in a while. From slouchy jumpers paired with silken colour-match trousers and layered cosy co-ords, to white tees tucked into leather trousers and kn...
Urban Decay’s eyeshadow palettes are the stuff of legend. For a brand that was largely known for its rich rainbow of colour (one super-fan even had their car sprayed to match the vibrant hue of her favourite Urban Decay nail polish, the now retired Asphyxia), its 2010 debut of Naked, a 12-shade nude eyeshadow palette, was a gamble; one that certainly paid off. It might have started out as an office brainstorm, but the Naked palette became one the most iconic beauty products of the last decade. Since then, the success of the original palette has spawned an array of iterations; Naked2 (retired), Naked3, Naked Smoky (retired), Naked Basics (retired), Naked2 Basics (my beloved six-shade palette, which I’m buying in bulk incase it also gets retired), Naked Heat, Naked ...
It’s been a tough old week for high street matriarch Marks & Spencer, with every day seeing another gloomy headline that speaks of lay-offs and store closures. Yet, behind the media coverage, the store is continuing to do what it does best: Deliver timeless, well-executed staples for the shopping public. Fashion-wise, August is always a tricky time of year, with temperatures remaining balmy, but the cool winds of autumn not far off. Anything we invest in now has to be versatile and adaptable for whatever the British weather throws at us. M&S has the solution—its online store is packed-full of trans-seasonal gems that will blend seamlessly into your capsule wardrobe and adapt to your ever-changing fashion needs. Really, it’s not rocket ...
We’re constantly inspired by Aïda Sané and her French-girl style account @basicstouch. In fact, she recently shared with us some of the specific basics she wears on repeat to create her signature pared-down vibe. Well, given that she has a breadth of sartorial knowledge, we thought we’d tap her to share some of the autumn items she’s looking forward to wearing. On that note, we thought this would be particularly entertaining given that fall just so happens to be Sané’s favorite season. On a recent IG post this summer, she stated, “The weather looks like fall at the moment, but I’m not complaining since I’m already waiting for coat season.” Curious about the simple autumn pieces she’ll be adding into her rotation ...
I really do love playing with makeup, but 99% of the time, when it comes to my beauty routine, I want things to be quick and fuss-free. It is because of this desire that my love for products that do it all is ever-growing. If I could have it my way, my morning makeup routine would consist of no more than three products that I can scribble over my face and blend out in seconds. And it seems I’m not alone. According to recent insights from Bobbi Brown, 47% of consumers are currently looking for multi-purpose claims with all beauty searches. Whether it’s blusher that doubles up as lipstick, bronzer you can swipe over your lids or highlight that works as primer too, makeup products that have multiple uses are at the top of my shopping list. You Deserve to Make Money Even When yo...

George Northwood and Elinor Block in a Zoom call Days before I went for the cut, I spoke to George over Zoom. I quickly gave him the facts: I hadn’t had my haircut for over six months, I wanted to go short, but how short could I go? The reason for the short hair question was because I didn’t know when I’d have another chance of getting my haircut (hello, second wave) and I couldn’t face my hair getting so long again. “Post-lockdown, everyone is desperate for a big change,” says George. “To get the look you’re after, you need to consider what you want to achieve and think about the different proportions.” For me, George suggested that I can go short and even take it up to my jawline if I want, as I’ve got a longer face than I realise. So, by cutting the length, it won’t mak...
The team at Who What Wear UK prides itself on uncovering cult items before they’ve even made it off the production line. We’re keen, to say the least, and a great portion of our time is spent documenting and analysing the Instagram posts of the thousands of cool women we follow on Instagram for high-street sightings. In fact, we have WhatsApp groups and Slack channels dedicated to these affordably priced power pieces, and we want to update you on them as soon as possible (aka after we’ve bought our faves). Our skills are so attuned that more often than not, we’ll have an inkling about a certain piece before it has hit the big time. Sometimes, you’ll find a flurry of brand-specific action due to a paid activation or natural desire to wear a parti...
This year, all outfits have one thing in common, a face mask, as we now can’t leave the house without them. This is an important item for practical purposes. However, now that numerous designers and brands have created non-medical, reusable face coverings, people are starting to play with vibrant prints and coordinate them with their outfits. Independent brands and high-street retailers have been selling masks for several months now, but many major luxury fashion houses, such as Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Dior, have steered clear of creating face masks for commercial purposes. This week, though, Burberry launched two fabric face masks in its heritage vintage check. They come with a luxury price tag at £90, but 20% of each mask will be donated to the Burberr...
We’ve done our best to keep it all together these last few months, but our beauty routines sure have changed. For better or worse, we’ve been tasked with taking matters into our own hands when it comes to everything from chemical peels to hair colour. While we’ve gotten pretty good at executing at-home gel manicures, too, we can’t help but think of how nice it could be to use this extra time away from prying eyes to give our nails some breathing room away from that perfect-looking but sometimes damaging cured lacquer. Fun fact: A number of nail polish brands have upped the ante by improving on their traditional nail polish formulas to look, feel, and perform more like gel, without the need to cure it under a light. And, of course, ...
After months of wearing vibrant summer dresses and adventurous prints—like tie-dye and neons—many of us use autumn as a time for a wardrobe reset and to revisit the classics. At this time of year, we typically return to back-to-school tailoring, checked prints and a more muted colour palette. Often in autumn, the simplest outfits are the most reliable—especially considering the weather can seem to dramatically change within hours. We have identified eight basic outfits using a classic capsule, including a trench coat, ankle boots, cashmere jumper and heritage blazer that you can always rely on at this time of year. All the items you’ll find in the outfits below can easily be mixed and matched, so you’ll also be able to create many different versions of these autumn classic...
A good moisturiser is a skincare staple. Second only to thoroughly cleaning the skin with a great cleanser, a moisturising cream is the most important step in your routine to ensure you’re flooding the skin with hydration and vital antioxidants. Plus, a good one will act as the final step in protecting your skin against environmental aggressors during the day and will help your skin cells recharge and rejuvenate overnight. The problem with many moisturisers, however, is that they can be the most expensive element of a good skincare routine. With clever active ingredients and luxe textures, when it comes to the final step of your routine, you can expect to pay a little more, but that doesn’t mean you should have to. There are now some seriously amazing dupes out there ...
