So, if you’re looking at updating your jacket game this season, where do you start looking for the perfect one? Well, on the high street there’s one place myself and my fellow Who What Wear editors really rate for excellent quality but still on-trend designs— and that’s M&S. It’s always on my list of suggestions for styling clients looking to build a capsule wardrobe, and that’s mainly because it does those timeless, long-lasting pieces so well. From investment leather from the premium Autograph range, to organic cotton pieces— you can’t really go wrong. And since you know how seriously we take recommending you the best pieces each season, I thought it was a good idea to pop into the store and test drive as many of M&S’s new season jackets as I could find. Below, you’ll ...
Like most people, I’m picky with scents. I know instantly if I’m compatible with a scent or if it’s going to grate on me, and if I’m near someone wearing a heady scent I have to move or I’ll start to brew a headache. I have my favourite perfumes, roll-ons and oils and it takes a really special scent to make its way into my collection because of this. As much as I love testing fresh launches, newer perfumes rarely catch my eye, or nose– but I do make exceptions for Byredo scents. I currently have three of the brand’s perfumes in my collection, which I rotate depending on my mood and the season. Blanche is for fresh spring days, Mumbai Noise for hot summer nights and Bal D’Afrique is my all seasons go-to day scent. The brand’s latest launch, De Los Santos sounded like it would work its ...
Back in the day charcoal was the go-to ingredient for oily skin. I remember growing up seeing adverts with smiling women with their T-zone coated in a rich black paste promising to halt breakouts and minimise pores. Since then, skincare has moved on leaps and bounds and there are dozens of newer ingredients that help calm oiliness and improve skin texture such as salicylic acid and niacinamide. And while nothing can actually make your pores smaller these wonder ingredients do help to declog and even out texture. Saying that, I really do believe that a good charcoal mask is a quick-fire way to pull oil and grime from pores and prep the skin pre-makeup if you’re an oily/combination skin type like me. I’ve tried loads that have dried out my skin as I have a combo skin type but the below ...
While sugaring may be similar to waxing, there are a lot of benefits that make it stand out: It’s all-natural. “With a formula of just sugar, water, and lemon, it’s 100% biodegradable and better for the planet,” Blake says. It’s less painful. “Because sugaring paste is applied at a lower temperature than wax and hair is removed in the direction that it grows, the skin is less irritated and red,” Blake says. “Clients will still feel a slight sting from the root of the hair being removed from the tiny pore, but there isn’t that lingering burning sensation wax leaves since sugar paste doesn’t have resins to grab the live skin like wax. Sugar only grabs dead skin and hair.” You’ll get fewer ingrown hairs. ...
We believe Marilyn Monroe was talking about heels when she was said, “Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world.” But if you can’t walk in said heels? Well, that essentially negates any potential conquests, whether you’re in the boardroom or at the bar. The thing is, as we enter wedding season, it becomes much more likely that you’re going to be wearing a pair of heels. And combined with the fact we haven’t had the same opportunities to dust off our favourite pairs over the past few years, it could get a little precarious when walking in your heels after so long. So to avoid any embarrassing mishaps, we’ve put together a definitive list of tricks that’ll help you remember how to walk in heels, be they high or midi. Scroll down to check out the tried-and-teste...
Pretty, throw-on styles are H&M’s M.O. and that just so happens to be my favourite kind of dress too (who has time for anything complicated or uncomfortable these days?!) So, of course, these 6 dresses are easy to wear— and versatile too. I tried them all with flat chunky sandals and my white heeled sandals that I often wear to weddings and they all worked both dressed-up and down. And most would fit right in poolside or on a beach, but also for city heat waves too. The only thing to note about good H&M dresses is they tend to sell out pretty quickly, so I can’t guarantee that my six top choices below will be around for long. Just in case, I’ve also added a thorough shopping edit below with more of the of the best styles I’ve spotted in their new-in secti...
The OG Fluff Yeah continues to be hugely popular, and now, with its many new colours, prints and platform styles, there’s an iteration to suit everyone’s preference. This season, the brand’s Feel You campaign champions just that, casting a diverse array of agenda-setting people to showcase the wide-ranging collection and the many wonderful ways it can be worn. Musician Remi Wolf sums up the eclectic mood for spring/summer, pairing her Fluff Yeah Animalia slides with a kooky combination of socks and a confident print clash of patchwork, polka dots and space-dyed knits. Throw in some additional quirky accessories for good measure and you have yourself the kind of ensemble that will go viral on social media and persuade every minimalist out there to be a little bit more...
There are other brands that also stock affordable dresses. ASOS, following the success of its vast and brilliant bridesmaid range, has dresses for as little as £150. It also stocks Needle and Thread, a British brand that specialises in intricately embellished occasionwear with a comfortable price tag. One of my favourite affordable red carpet go-tos, Self-Portrait, also offers a drop-dead-gorgeous wedding range. Reformation, meanwhile, might not be the first name you think of for bridal looks, but the brand has a couple of gorgeous gowns. Better yet, Whistles‘ wedding dress collection continues to be one of my favourites, with all pieces under £400. If you want some inspiration for shopping affordable high-street wedding outfits, just take a look a...
At this moment, there are three high-street brands, in particular, all of us on the Who What Wear UK team turn to first for inspiration and for the most exciting pieces to invest in for the coming months: Arket, & Other Stories and H&M. So to get you off on the right foot this month, I’ve combed their new-in collections and compiled 30 of the best May buys below. You’ll find a mix of elevated wardrobe classics and some more joyful statement pieces, too. There are beautiful trench coats and perfect blue jeans—the building blocks of any successful spring wardrobe. And then there are some prints and pops of colour as well—because if there’s ever a time of year to introduce some brights into your life, it’s spring. Kermit green...
Ahh the humble button-down shirt. Possibly the most versatile wardrobe staple you can buy, aside from maybe classic blue jeans. What a shirt does that jeans don’t, however, is make any outfit you pair it with look polished. Hands down, a classic shirt is the easiest basic you can buy to elevate your wardrobe, and every good capsule should include one. When I say versatile, I mean it. Whether you opt for a crisp poplin, classic oxford, silk or linen style— there are countless different ways to style a shirt. Tuck it in, button it up and layer it under a knit in winter, and in summer it even works unbuttoned as a beach cover up. But I think a shirt truly comes into its own in spring. It’s the perfect layer thrown over a ribbed vest and leggings and trainers for a weekend or alone ...

I definitely live for luxury goods—bags, shoes, coats—you name it. One thing I don’t usually spend a ton of money on, however, is nail polish. I normally rely solely on the salon to provide me with my colour of choice, but recently I decided to change that. There are a lot of luxury nail polish brands out there that seem to offer more health benefits for your nails and totally unique shades. I figured at least a few of these had to be worth trying. I tested two different luxury polishes on each hand for a week. On one hand, I tested Butter London’s decadent formula while on the other, I gave Chanel’s most popular polish a spin. If you’re curious about how each performed after wearing them for a week, keep scrolling for the verdict and a few other luxu...
