As a fashion editor, I spend a lot of time browsing new-in sections, which means I can be exceptionally picky. So far this year, there is one brand that seems to be reading my mind and delivering all the pieces I’d be looking for: Mango. If you are searching for wardrobe staples, you can always rely on Mango for timeless, but not boring, designs. Right now, you’ll find beautifully tailored blazers, jeans that have just the right amount of slouch and ribbed knitwear that defies its price tag. Personally, I am most impressed by the dress offering with every trend from cut-outs to minis ticked off. Mango also has some more unusual and striking pieces in the mix, which all have a retro feel if you’re looking to add some personality to your outfits. There are lots of ’70s ...
Celebrity beauty brands are not my thing. I’m somewhat of a product snob, and I go into the testing process of any celebrity-backed beauty brand with a hearty serving of cynicism. My reasoning behind this is, despite the fact some of my favourite stylish celebrities make for great beauty inspiration, when it comes to products, I know they’re no experts. In reality, it’s the countless people responsible for their makeup and hair looks that really hold the secrets. The one area of beauty that I will almost always turn to expert advice on is haircare. The reason for this, I’ll admit, it mostly selfish. You see, I have never been able to style my own hair in a way that oozes effortless glamour. I always leave the salon feeling as though having an expert on hand every day (...
We get it. Sienna Miller always wears great outfits. So what makes this one so special? Her excellent skirt-and-shoe pairing, that’s what. For the outing, Miller chose a gorgeous, lilac-hued bouclé miniskirt-and-jacket set, which she offset with a pair of trending white mules. The two-piece was cherry-picked from Alessandra Rich’s S/S 22 collection. Adorned with pearls and white accent trims, it’s the sort of thing you’d expect ladies who lunch to wear to The Wolseley. But the mini hemline and the addition of white, ’90s-style mules? They’ve got Miller written all over them. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. With all of this to consider, we find that tailoring is often one of the last areas brands making plus sizes will cover. So where do I look for a good suit or great pair of trousers? I really rate the fit of ASOS curve’s trousers for my body, I find that I can nearly 100% rely on the fact I will need a size 24 and they will fit well. I appreciate that when ASOS create an oversized blazer for plus sizes it is actually oversized, giving that dramatic “Chuck on your boyfriend’s blazer” look that you often find in street style looks. And after working on the tailoring design team for two and half years when I designed for ASOS I also know how passionate they are for bringing us new and trend led styles. The other high street brands I look to for plus size tailoring are River Island,...
Back in the day you could say weddings were more of a traditional affair, with one big dress and a rather formal dinner with your nearest and dearest. Now, the idea of how, when and where nuptials should take place is much more fluid. Modern weddings can last anywhere from a couple of hours at the Town Hall, to week-long far-off escapades— you do you, we say. But whichever way you choose to celebrate your love— traditional or not— if it involves an excuse for multiple outfit changes, all the better for it in our opinion. Especially when there’s so many jaw-droppingly beautiful, out-of-the-box bridal outfits out there now. Everywhere from the high street and more affordable contemporary brands to luxury designers are upping the stakes in bridal-wear and adding...
Although it sometimes feels like I have nothing to wear, I’ll admit that my wardrobe consists of the classic foundations—e.g., good denim, basic tees, etc. All that’s missing is some added spice, aka statement-making pieces that can elevate my staples so that they feel extra special and give me some more styling variety. Below, I present my current shopping list of cool and fun pieces that I’m eyeing up at Zara right now. I’ve turned towards bright saturated colours, such as pinks, oranges and rust reds, as well as vintage-inspired stripes and scarf prints. I’m also excited about the texture and proportion play, as below you’ll find dramatic maxi skirts, oversized shirts and unusual cut-out detailing to add a point of interest. Keep scrolling t...
I don’t know about you, but all I can think about is summer. If you too are dreaming of afternoons in beer gardens and summer parties with friends, then you might already be searching for the perfect summer outfits ahead of time. I bought a pair of sandals and a summer cotton dress within hours of the sun shining last week, and have been looking for outfit ideas ever since. Sometimes, summer outfits need to be straightforward and simple to assemble, with just the flourish of a key accessory or subtle injection of a new styling move, and sometimes—because the UK’s climate is so unpredictable—the layering and construction will be more demanding. We’ve supplied the more advanced levels, of course. Remember if the sandals don’t work due to rain, plenty of the ...
What is one of your favorite vacation memories? Wakeboarding in Tahiti is the best. [The water] is literally a bath—so warm and beautiful—so even if you fall, it doesn’t matter. I loved that. What do you wear when wakeboarding? When I’m doing water sports, I’m not going to go there with the outfit. I would rather be comfortable while wakeboarding. Usually a one-piece or a rashguard or at least bottoms that don’t tie. I’m sure you have packing down to a science with how often you travel for work. Do you have any tips for the less experienced traveler? Oh, I’m known for it. I always show up for a four- or five-day job with a carry-on, and everyone’s like, “How did you do that?” My tips are to know your basics. You donR...
From floral wedding-guest styles to gingham everyday dresses, they’re the kind of throw-on designs that work equally well with heels, sandals or trainers. They all come in under £100, and more importantly you can wear a bra with a lot of them. So when we say easy-to-wear, we actually mean it. Their new spring collection has come at the perfect time in the run up to Easter, and both Hannah Almassi (our editor-in-chief who has the Esme Cut Out Dress) and myself plan on wearing ours over the long, sunny(!) bank holiday weekend. And since we’ve all been raving about the brand in the office recently, I thought it would be worth ordering a few styles to try on and report back on the sizing as well as which styles I thought were the very best. I’d say they generally came up sligh...
Look, I’ll be the first to admit that Le Labo’s iconic Santal 33 scent smells really good. In addition to owning a bottle myself, the fragrance has become so wildly popular over the years that it’s basically a calling card for in-the-know Millennials. Basically, if you know, you know. But the Brooklyn-based perfume brand has so much more to offer in the way of its oil-based unisex scents beyond just its best-seller—and I’m here to walk you through where to even begin. It’s easy to see why the brand has become so popular; each of the fragrances are layered with an intoxicating medley of notes and since they’re oil-based, one spritz can last you all day. I know they can be pricey, but in my opinion, the cost-per...
While there have been plenty of contenders for the top dress brand, it’s The Vampire’s Wife that remains the choice dress outfitter when it comes to celebrities. Seen everywhere from across Instagram to award-season after-parties, it continues to be incredibly popular way into 2022. The brand first began gaining momentum back in 2017 when the likes of Alexa Chung, Sienna Miller and Keira Knightley, as well as a legion of high-profile influencers, all wore the brand’s Festival dress on repeat. Owing to its universally flattering shape—a simple round neck, nipped-in waist, midi-length skirt and elbow-length sleeves adorned with frilly cuffs—it’s little wonder it became an It-girl favourite. Fast-forward to 2019 at the Royal wedding, and t...
