Continuing my eternal quest to dress more French-like, I’ve set my sights—as I know many of you have, too—on spring. Although we have a few weeks of winter still to get through, spring is very much on my mind right now as plans start to seep into my calendar and the promise of brighter, longer and warmer days begins to come into view. This year, I want to make sure I’m prepared for the seasonal switch, and naturally, I’ve turned my attention to ascertaining which pieces form a French girl’s spring capsule wardrobe. For this, I’ve taken a close look at the sartorial habits of some of my favourite French women, deep-diving into their respective feeds to see what they wear when spring rolls around, and it didn’t take long for some patterns to emerge. Now, I’m confident tha...
Getting dressed in the morning is hard enough in winter, even without being petite. It’s often still dark when we stand in front of our wardrobes searching for something to wear; you never know if it’s going to be freezing outside or oddly mild; and most of us are still experiencing the ‘working from home’ outfit rut. Now add to that the stress of being shorter than 5’3” in a world where most clothes are designed for 6ft, size 8 models… it’s tough, okay! As a petite fashion editor, having to search that little bit harder for outfits that work (and make friends with my local tailor) is something I’ve learnt to tackle my whole adult life. By now, though, I think I’ve managed to crack the code of where to find the best pieces that work for us shorter girls. Yes, I still struggle som...
Don’t get us wrong. No one gets all dressed up quite like Gigi Hadid. For proof, count the runway appearances. Yet very few things make us happier than spotting the supermodel in a casual mood, dressed in the coolest, most effortless-looking off-duty outfits. Between leggings and Ugg boots, she always manages to make us see wardrobe items that we, too, often overlook in a totally new light. Such was the case on Tuesday when Hadid was photographed in New York City wearing an oversize polo-neck top with slouchy grey trousers and a pair of low-top Converse from the trainer brand’s recent, nearly sold-out collaboration with Moncler. Sure, she’s wearing a glorified groutfit (grey outfit in fashion speak), but that doesn’...
As we approach the end of January (where did that month go?), the sales may be a distant memory. You may believe the best bits are long gone, but this is where you’re mistaken. Sure, the most eager of shoppers will have had their baskets full of bargains weeks ago, but some of the best designer sales are still going, including Ralph Lauren. The iconic brand has been dressing the fashion elite since the ’60s, and there’s no doubt you know someone who owns a polo shirt, logo knitwear, a heritage check blazer or that instantly recognisable sportswear. The label has been going the distance for decades, so there’s true staying power in its pieces, and this is what sets this sale apart from the rest. Whether you’re shopping for last-minute winter warmers and wanting to swaddle up in a cosy knit ...

What is a mock-neck jumper? I hear you ask. Well, let’s start with what it’s not. A roll-neck (or a turtleneck, as they’re known in the U.S.) typically has just that—a roll neck, a portion of fabric on the neckline that folds back on itself to create a double-layer effect. Most roll-necks sit under the chin, even when doubled over. Of course, thicknesses vary, and you can choose whichever one speaks to you. Still, generally, I find a large percentage of roll-necks come up too high and feel somewhat suffocating on my petite frame—especially the fitted iterations. As for my bust? I feel like the height of roll-necks doesn’t do my curves justice. Irrational as this may sound, I have spoken to other women with bigger busts who, although we can’t put our finger on why, just don’t love wear...
As a fully fledged mule obsessive, I have a blinkered approach to shoe shopping that often swerves me away from new styles. There’s something about the backless pairs that, for me, makes any outfit feel more pulled together (even if it is just jeans and a T-shirt). But recently, I’m going to admit I’ve felt the urge to cheat on my much-loved mule collection. This hasn’t happened since I kept thinking about the toecap YSL slingbacks that took over Instagram last year, and now my head has been turned for Mary Janes. Another thing I must admit (we’re all friends here) is that I’ve never really liked them before now. They reminded me of the flat, often patent styles with the one buckled strap across the front that were worn with white frilly socks and a grey pinafore ...
We’re not sure about you, but in recent years, it feels as though shopping for beauty products has become more difficult than ever before. Not because of the fact we don’t find ourselves shopping IRL much, and not because of the rather daunting amount to choose from (although these things don’t help), but rather because what we want from our beauty products has changed exponentially. After spending many years of our lives buying every beauty product that came our way, nowadays we want to buy less and buy smarter. At Who What Wear, we have found ourselves prepared to spend more money on our beauty products, but we want them to work. Think easy-to-use, fuss-free products that deliver tangible results. We’re talking face creams that deliver instant glow, 10-minute hair masks th...
If you’ve worked in the beauty industry long enough, you’re bound to pick up beauty tips and tricks. As beauty editors, we regularly talk to nearly everyone in the industry, from nail pros to dermatologists. Along the way, we’ve each picked up hacks that we’ve taken with us and incorporated into our own routines. Personally, the hacks I’ve learned have been nothing short of mind-blowing. I’ve learned how to style my waves to make them perfectly beachy, make my dry skin so dewy that it looks lit from within, and even found a way to firm and plump my lips (sans fillers). Luckily, my co-workers have also picked up some beauty hacks over the years (including a glow-boosting trick from J.Lo’s makeup artist). Keep reading to learn our absolute favorite tricks and how to make your own...
Someone once asked me the one item of clothing I would most recommend investing in. Perhaps expecting me to say a basic, she was surprised when I replied: a statement jacket. Yes, this isn’t something that will necessarily fit into everyone’s wardrobe, but for me it’s the one thing I turn to again and again. It’s by far the easiest way to add personality to the clean-lined staples sitting in my wardrobe. Well, this week I stumbled across a Mango jacket that could not be a better example of the power of souped-up outwear. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. Prolific fashion designer Thierry Mugler died on Jan. 23 at the age of 73. Through the 1980s and 1990s, the French designer helped to shape an era of colourful catwalks with artfully sculpted and larger than life designs. More recently, Thierry Mugler and his eponymous brand experienced a renaissance since stars like Cardi B and Kim Kardashian were often seen wearing his archival creations — and we couldn’t help but indulge in finding Mugler’s most over-the-top ’90s fashion designs. It was 2019 when Mugler charmed Instagram’s influential set of baddies. Cardi B showed up at the 2019 Grammys in a Mugler Couture oyster gown from 1995 that was inspired by the 1480’s painting The Birth of Venus by Botticelli. The following year, the “WAP” singer wore a...
