Over the next few months, you’re going to hear us talk about many fall trends, most of which we’ll be embracing with open arms. However, our wardrobes aren’t limitless, meaning we need to be just as thoughtful about the trends we invest in as you are. As such, we thought we’d cancel out all the new-season noise and bring you a concise edit of the autumn trends our Who What Wear UK editors (and a couple of guest contributors from the U.S. team) are prioritising buying over the rest. While we all chose different garments, there’s undeniably a common theme, and that’s relishing the opportunity to get dressed up. This doesn’t have to mean high heels and ball gowns, and for us, it manifests in everything from smart tailoring and vib...
Printed jeans are having a resurgence right now, along with other Y2K favourites such as body chains and pink sunglasses. We’re not just talking about leopard print either, but wave prints, checkerboard and elaborate swirls. When it comes to printed denim there is one place that really excels—Free People. The brand had a pop-up store at Wilderness Festival this weekend (and kindly invited us to join them) and the printed jeans were a particular favourite. India Edit wore the wavey jeans by Ragged Priest, which come in several colours including mint, peach and a grass green. However these jeans aren’t just for festivals or for those with a Tik-Tok aesthetic—these are jeans our editors have been raving about for weeks. Styled with a simple jumper or a white T-shirt ...
I can recall a time, around 2008 I think it was, when black skinny jeans were life. They were one of the coolest things to wear; perfect with the influx of bold-shouldered Balmain rip-off blazers and spiked platform shoes fashion editors favoured, cool with a Breton and ankle boots to get that French-girl look, and great on a night out with a nice top. Like many other basic denim styles, they have become a relied-upon but oft forgotten part of our wardrobe. It’s been a long time since I felt excited about wearing a pair of black jeans, and I’m pretty sure the ones I did own (a nice little cropped flare from Frame) are languising somewhere in the back of my closet. No more shall you be overlooked, my inky jeans! Because in the past few days a flurry of celebrity arbiters of...
In the fashion calendar, September is a time traditionally associated with newness. Autumn collections arrive in store, and fashion week gives us a first look at emerging trends for the following year. But for us, this shift in season is often about refining our wardrobes and investing in classic, versatile staples. Weekday’s new-in section is bursting with tie-dye and trippy prints, but it’s the new denim that’s really grabbing our attention. Weekday arguably has the best denim offering on the high street, delivering amazing quality for under £60 a pair. The brand has mastered classic cuts, and its Rowe straight-leg, high-waisted jeans are simply perfect. Although Weekday tends to focus on durable, classic cuts, it does t...
Iconic Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee of fashion brand Sabyasachi is collaborating with high street giant H&M on a collection titled “Wanderlust”. Set to launch in India, the UK, and a few select H&M international stores, Wanderlust includes rich handcrafted textiles applied to Western and traditional Indian silhouettes. “I am happy to announce the new date for the collaboration with H&M, as it gives us the opportunity to spread the Sabyasachi aesthetic to a wider audience in India and worldwide,” designer Sabyasachi said in a press statement. “Due to the complexities of the Covid-19 situation, we had to put the collaboration on hold but I’m eagerly looking forward to launching this ‘ready-to-wear’ collection that will bring...
Are there any beauty secrets that you’ve picked up from the makeup artists and stylists that you’ve worked with over the years? I work with Alex Babsky a lot, who I adore—he has worked a lot with us on the Noble Panacea campaigns—and he, to me, is an artist. And Hung Vanngo is the same. They use their fingertips a lot, which I love. I think brushes are great, but there’s something about the application when they use their hands and the warmth of their skin. I always really love how the makeup then sets, so I think that’s something that I’ve definitely taken in. I was also obsessed with Alexa Chung as a teen, so a cat eye to me is just heaven. But whenever I’ve tried to do it in the past, it always ends up, like, up here, past my eyebrows and super thick. So I asked...
I don’t know about you but I get really excited about autumn shoe trends. Perhaps it’s because they have a sort of back-to-school sheen to them, even if you left quite some time ago, or it’s just a welcome change from wearing sandals. Or maybe it’s because autumn is easily the best season out there (don’t @ me, it really is). For 2021, there’s an abundance of autumn shoe trends that are worth getting hyped up about, which are perfect for the coming cooler weather. But what I love the most is that there are some fun trends that we haven’t seen for a while that are guaranteed to please plenty of fashion people. After looking through all the runway collections for autumn/winter 2021, I’ve identified 12 trends that are key fo...

Within the ever-colliding stratospheres of fashion and beauty, “rules” have become a bit passé, if not obsolete altogether. Gone are the days when we’d refuse to wear white after Labor Day or dismiss navy and black as an ill-conceived colour pairing. Currently, we feel inspired to dye our hair a demurely shocking shade of lavender. A hot-pink eyelid is cooler than yesteryear’s smoked-out cat eye, and we’re even experimenting with crystal-studded manicures and cute-but-clashing polish shades. Our point? It’s an exciting time to be in fashion and beauty, and more so than ever before, our hair, makeup and fashion aesthetic reflect that. Hair, especially, has been the comeback kid of 2021. Previously old-fashioned styles like the mullet have been artist...
Of all the high street brands out there, Marks & Spencer is one I always like to keep my eye on; its past few collections have been so impressive, I’m constantly telling myself it can’t be bettered. However, as soon as the latest drop lands on-site, I find myself eating my worlds—M&S keeps getting chicer and chicer. Though I’d previously make a beeline for its Autograph category, which houses the brand’s more classic, design-led pieces, but now m head is incredibly turned by its other sections—Per Una and M&S Collection. Proof that it pays to keep tabs on Marks & Spencer’s movements—you never know what you might miss otherwise. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. What makes a wedding dress suitable for autumn is ultimately down to your personal preference and what your overall wedding day looks like. Although I was an August bride, my wedding took place in my Scottish coastal hometown, so, erring on the side of caution, I chose a fitted dress to minimise the chill. Though it was sleeveless, I was prepared for what the enviable chilly downpour that ensued, thanks to a beautiful, ecru leather jacket I bought on a whim up just the week before. And I’m so glad I did, as I barely took to off. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating should be. It begins with giving you back power. After spending the last year and a half working from home, I need some reminders about how to get dressed up again, so I’m relying on an office capsule wardrobe more than ever. In the mornings, I don’t like to spend time thinking about what I’m wearing. Instead of trying on endless outfits, I would rather spend my time sipping a morning latte, catching up on the news, and scrolling through the latest updates on my Instagram feed. To cut back on the time I’m spending deciding on what I’m wearing to work, I’ve narrowed down my options to some key office essentials to develop an easy work capsule wardrobe. Ahead, see the 18 pieces I rely on for my outfits to wear to the Who What Wear office or for smarter days working at home. I will admit that these are pieces ...
