I would guess that if you surveyed 100 people, they probably wouldn’t say that cowboy boots were the shoe style they wore the most—or at all, for that matter. However, I just can’t get enough of them, and over the last 12 months, I’ve worn my favourite vintage pair through all weathers, quite literally. In winter, I tucked in jeans and styled them with a chunky knit; in summer, I paired them with oversize smock dresses and sunnies; then in spring and autumn, I enjoyed wearing them peeking out of wide-leg trousers. That’s not bad going for one pair of boots. They’re not exactly the shrinking violets of the shoe-and-boot family, so I understand if you find cowboy boots a little too costume-like for your taste. However, there a...

Due to the reduced nature of weddings, one trend that designers and retailers have repeatedly told me about is the shift to more pared-back looks. Marisa Rooney who owns Beautiful Brides Liverpool, a curvy bridal boutique, said how she pivoted her business when the pandemic hit: “I was receiving enquiries from brides looking for a more casual approach to their day, and created my own small in-house collection of dresses with modern and simplistic designs. These styles have been appealing to those who are having micro weddings.” Designer Kate Halfpenny has said similar: “we have seen an interesting thing. What’s happened is brides have held their hero dress for their big party but then bought more pared-back looks for smaller ceremonies.” Senior fashion ma...
When the temperature soars, your hair is usually the last thing you want to think about. I cannot tell you the number of times I’ve planned out the perfect summer outfit from head to toe only to get so hot and bothered that there was simply no other option but to throw my hair up into a messy bun and call it a day. And don’t even get me started on humidity. It’s the nemesis of chic summer hairstyles and can ruin the sleekest of looks in minutes, especially for those of us with textured hair. However, with a little experimentation and a lot of research, I’ve found that there are a few low-maintenance hairstyles that look good, scream “summer-ready” and are beyond easy to re-create at home. Keep scrolling for 30 of the best easy...
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it: It’s one of my favourite sayings in life and in fashion. You’ll catch me going to the same three restaurants all the time, my middle parting has stayed the same for about 10 years, there’s one nail colour I get on repeat, and then there’s the way I dress… What can I say: I’m a creature of habit, and while sometimes it has its downsides, other times it has its pluses. One example is the topic of today’s post. Once I found that there are certain pieces that worked rather well on my petite frame, I stuck with them, and it’s made both dressing in a way that flatters my figure rather easy over the years. In fact, I’m proud to say that people are often surprised when they find out that I’m only 5’2” because of the way I’m able to elongate...
Having spent the last month or two keeping track of any and every summer dress that has drops online, I like to think I’ve become a bit of an authority on the subject, and trust me when I say that COS’ 2021 offering is, so far, leading the charge. This is, however, not a collection for the floral fanatics of the world, because in true COS style, it’s all about clean-lines, colour-blocking appeal and a ‘less-is-more’ mantra. Minimalists, this one is for you. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating should be. It begins with giving you back power. As several warehouses and stores shuttered over the past 12 months, the fashion industry faces huge challenges and strains that pose an inevitable threat to businesses. Many of us won’t be shopping in the same way right now, but even a like on Instagram or a message of support can provide a boost for these brands. I certainly don’t want anyone to feel like they have to buy more right now, but at the same time, after working in the fashion industry for nine years, I want to support the brands and pieces that I love and treasure. As an editor at Who What Wear, I typically spend a lot of time looking at new-in products and so every week, I update this story with the pieces that have caught my eye and that really stand out. I usually have quite a classic style and tend to lean towa...
We try not to be too prescriptive when it comes to fashion here at Who What Wear, whether that’s in relation to the dress trends hitting the runway or the shoe style proliferating on Instagram. Of course, we’ll never turn down a good dose of style inspo (the more the merrier), but we like to think that we offer you a range of options that you can pick and choose from. However, there are some things that really are fundamental to building a successful wardrobe foundation, and one of those is underwear. Feeling secure, confident and comfortable in what lies beneath is so important for starting the day the right way. And while everyone has different requirements in the lingerie stakes—depending on their shape and size—we found that, after a quick survey of...
The Row is known for its elegant, but quiet, take on luxury and its ability to make even the simplest items hugely desirable. If I had to describe the vibe in two words, they would be rich and unbothered. The intention of these clothes is to not initially attract too much attention but give an air of impeccable and superior taste—exactly how the founders, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, look having a coffee on a New York corner in a £2000 coat. They manage to make simple, unassuming items a thing of beauty thanks to a focus on design and quality, and this year, they have given slouchy, tailored trousers a “The Row-over.” In the S/S 21 collection, they included light-beige trousers that have sharp pleats at the front, wide legs and a high waistband. They are the kind ...
Opera gloves were the unexpected accessory of choice at the 2021 BRIT Awards. Held live from London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday, 11 May, some of the best dressed stars on the red carpet had a few things in common: pastel ruffles, neon gowns, and “COVID friendly” accessories like designer masks, socially distanced headpieces, and opera gloves that completed a co-ordinated look. Two of the most memorable outfits on the red carpet came from Mabel and Raye. The singers wore body-hugging neon gowns with Mabel in lime green, Raye in fuchsia, and long elegant opera gloves to match. Jessie Ware and Lianne La Havas also chose opera gloves to complete their looks, but instead went for a more minimal palette of black and animal print. It makes so much sense why opera gloves are so popular...
