At last, spring has arrived, and with it comes a flurry of new beauty launches and fresh looks for the months ahead. While in previous years we might have looked to fashion shows or peeked behind the scenes at runways to predict the beauty trends that we’d all be wearing for spring and summer, this year, we’ve gone directly to the makeup artists themselves for the inside scoop. And I have to say, I’m incredibly excited. From skin that’s so glossy, you could see a reflection in it to eyes awash with pretty pastels, spring’s makeup trends are feeling fresh, fun and full of life. Even better? We asked each of the eight makeup artists to create their own take on the trend for us so we can see how to genuinely make these trends work at...
There are hundreds of thousands of influencers in the social ether, but only a handful who we religiously stalk in order to virtually steal the clothes off their backs. Our primary target is Monikh—the London-based styling and shopping guru who seeks out the very coolest buys from every corner of the retail world. From her inspiring tips on re-wearing her well-chosen investment items to hunting down the coolest high-street pieces, her Instagram feed @monikh and website are a veritable hotbed of things you’re going to want to purchase immediately (and will never regret). Each month, Monikh will share her new picks exclusively for you… The shops and restaurants are finally open! Yes, it’s time to fluff up those eyebrows and book your favourite restaurant for an outdoor lunch, because the str...
You can never get too much of a good thing, and right now, our thing is denim. After being somewhat cast aside for the first time in recent history thanks to the stretchy waistbands and comfy loungewear of the pandemic, jeans are back on the radar. Searches for jeans and denim trends have been on the up since the beginning of the year, new looks (such as patchwork or criss-cross waistbands) have been well received by shoppers, and the more we look at our friends IRL and online the more we notice denim-centric outfits coming back to the fore. In the past few weeks alone, the Who What Wear UK team has reported on the surprising rise of printed jeans, pinpointed 12 perfect spring outfits that all revolve around your favourite blues, decoded the new take on ...
We may have only had, like, three days of a heatwave recently, but as soon as the sun came out all we could think about was shedding our boots and trainers for bare ankles. Anyone else? Sandal season is finally upon us and we couldn’t be happier about it. A great pair can be the perfect gateway into spring/summer dressing— even swapping them into your favourite jeans and jumper look now can make your existing wardrobe feel instantly refreshed. We don’t discriminate on sandal styles here (classic tan, lace-up, mules… we’ll take them all) but it is fast becoming clear that one trend is going to rule them all for 2021, and that’s chunky ones. From velcro dad sandals, to fisherman caged styles and flatform flip-flops, we still can’t get enough of them (this is the third year r...
Tennis is one of fashion’s favourite pastimes. The preppy racket sport, mastered by Serena Williams and Naomi Osaka, is getting the sartorial treatment it deserves. The Adidas Tennis Luxe collection for spring/summer 2021 features a mix of classic activewear and tennis-inspired, ready-to-wear separates that will get you on the courts. The 36-piece collection features clothing, trainers, slides, and accessories in four colourways: white with green stripes, pastel pink, pastel yellow, and navy blue sets and separates. A few Adidas Tennis Luxe pieces, like the tennis dress, 3-stripes shorts, and the tennis cardigan, show design inspirations from tennis dresses and preppy activewear of the 1970s and American Varsity-inspired detailing. The collection is priced at £12 for a two-pack of le...
Style Notes: Simone Pérèle is currently switching up much of its collection so it’s hard to keep track of the best sellers on a day-to-day basis, but overall it’s this Caresse style that keeps performing well. I also tried on the Delice Underwired 3D Contour Bra (£68) and took it home with me. Spacer fabric: Spacer is basically a super high-tech type of ultra-thin padding. It’s synthetic, so it holds its shape, but it’s also breathable, like cotton, thanks to a clever honeycomb texture. Lightweight and great for travel: You don’t get too hot in this, and it feels weightless to wear—so it’s great for being in all day, but it’s also good for cramming into a suitcase. Deep cups are good for fuller breasts: So if you have more volume at the top of your...
There are a few jeans styles that, no matter what the denim trends are, plenty of people will keep in their wardrobes. Skinny jeans are one style (even if we don’t see so many people wearing them right now), and I’d argue that mom jeans are another. The style, which is a throwback ’80s style, is high waisted with a looser fit around the thighs and then slightly tapered at the bottom. Of course, plenty of brands and designers have interpreted this look in their own way, and there are many jeans that are classed as “mom” which are high waisted with slightly straighter legs. But I digress. If you’re a fan of this jeans style (and I’d say nearly everyone is these days), then have I got the gallery of outfit inspiration for you below. Fr...
Back in November, we gave a shout-out to all our readers to find out exactly what it was that you wanted to read. An overwhelming number of you asked to hear more about the independent fashion brands that needed our extra support in the midst of the pandemic. Well, we would expect nothing less, and of course, we were more than happy to oblige. While restrictions are starting to ease, we believe it is more important than ever to continue supporting these brands. It’ll be a long road to recovery, but it’s a cause we’re ready to fight for. We are self-confessed small-brand obsessives here at Who What Wear, and there’s nothing we love more than to champion those labels that are doing exciting things in the industry,...
Crop tops are taking over our social feeds for summer 2021. The return of the baby tee started in the 2010s and is inspired by our current fascination with late-’90s style. Whether you are well into the Y2K aesthetic or you just want to start planning out your warm-weather looks, we found carefree and stylish crop tops that will make the perfect additions to your summer 2021 edit. When shopping for clothes, especially seasonal fashion trends, you always want to check what materials the garment is made from after you decide on your price range. On warm spring and hot summer days, you’ll thank yourself for spending a little extra time or money to get a crop top that is breathable and comfortable. We recommend going for sustainably sourced organic cotton tops if possible, or plant...
Shopping at ASOS is about to change, in the best possible way. The fashion retailer has announced a partnership with delivery service DPD on a new circular fashion initiative, called ReLove. The partnership will enable ASOS customers to donate preloved clothing to one of their five leading charities (including Scope, Marie Curie, British Heart Foundation, British Red Cross, and The Children’s Society), when receiving their ASOS orders at their doorstep. The initiative kicks off today, on 15 April, to coincide with the reopening of charity shops in England and Wales, and requires customers to download the YourDPD app to select the option to donate as they await a delivery. The preloved item will then be collected and checked by DPD when they make the customer’s ASOS delivery. Th...
If you fancy finding an ultraflattering spring dress, then London-based brand Ghost, a favourite of the Duchess of Cambridge, is your best bet. And if you fancy grabbing an affordable garment on which you can bet on the quality — M&S is at the top of our list. So to have M&S and Ghost collaborate on an accessible and size-inclusive collection to celebrate our spring and summer debuts? Absolutely count us in. “We are delighted to be collaborating on a second Ghost collection for M&S, following the sell-out success of our first drop for autumn/winter 2020,” Ghost owner Touker Suleyman said in a press statement. “It’s an exciting time at M&S and we are proud to be part of the brand’s offering and presenting a new collection of exclusively-designed...
The moment I saw that high-street hero & Other Stories was doing a collaboration with cult womenswear designer Rejina Pyo, I immediately messaged my fellow editors, and the response was suitably jubilant and emoji-filled. There also may have been a bit of screaming involved— don’t judge me. It’s not often that two of our favourite brands join forces to create a designer-worthy collection with high-street price points, so it was definitely a moment worth celebrating.
