The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has disclosed that it suffered extensive damages, vandalisation of offices and facilities across the states during the destruction that trailed the EndSARS protests. The commission said the damages were also felt in areas where bye-elections has been scheduled. The police in Katsina State, on Thursday, paraded a 30-year-old man, Idi Dila, suspected to be one of the bandits who recently launched an attack on Diskuru and Kadsau villages of the state, where no fewer than 12 people were killed. According to the police, Dila, from Mumunu village, Faskari Local Government Area of the state, was arrested on Sunday. He was paraded by the police alongside 26 other suspects arrested for various crimes ranging from kidnapping to armed robbery. Nigeria recorded 180 COVID-19 cases on Thursday, taking the total number of infections in the nation to 63,508. One Festus Simon, who was described by the Ogun State Police Command as a suspected ritual killer, has been arrested. Police said the 20-year-old Simon had earlier been accused of killing a 12-year-old boy in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. Sweden’s prime minister announced Thursday he has gone into protective self-isolation after a person close to him encountered someone who tested positive for the coronavirus. The country is experiencing an autumn surge of infections. From his Facebook account, Prime Minister Stefan Lofven said that on his doctor’s advice, he and his wife, Ulla, were self-isolating, even though they have no symptoms.
