#RevolutionNow: Appeal court strikes out Omoyele Sowore’s appeal
The Court of Appeal in Abuja, on Wednesday, struck out the notice of appeal that convener of the 2019 #RevolutionNow protest, Mr. Omoyele Sowore, filed to challenge his bail conditions. Sowore, who was the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the last general election and publisher of an online news outlet, Sahara Reporters, is facing treasonable felony charge the Federal Government preferred against him before the Federal High Court in Abuja. AIB signs MOU with France, Saudi Arabia, recommends prevention measures on airspace safety
The Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with France and Saudi Arabia on airspace safety. AIB however said that research and other investigative activities on the agreement could not be implemented due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The agency is also working in collaboration with the National Transport Safety Board in the U.S. and Singapore as well as Republic of Benin, the ECOWAS Commission and its member states. The AIB Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Akin Olateru, who made this known while addressing newsmen during the ongoing Regional Enlightenment Symposium in Kano, said the recommendations were made from 2007 till date. CP: Six policemen killed, five stations razed in Oyo
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Chucks Enwonwu, has said six policemen were killed while five police stations were burnt by hoodlums during the violence that trailed the #EndSARS protest on the state. The CP, who said this at a press briefing in Ibadan on Wednesday, said nine suspects were however arrested in connection with arson and looting in Iseyin, in the Iseyin Local Government Area of the state. The suspected were paraded before journalists at the briefing. Vodacom has join forces with Nokia to enable ultra-fast 5G services for South Africans. Nokia is said to be deploying its 5G radio, core and fixed network solutions across Vodacom’s network. The telco is using Nokia’s 2G, 3G, 4G and fibre access networks, as well as 5G fixed wireless access (FWA) and mobile broadband services. Vodacom will also use Nokia’s FastMile 5G gateway to offer FWA broadband services in areas not currently served by a fibre network. A Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Survey Report has shown that banks experienced higher loan default rates on credit cards and overdrafts/ personal lending to household in the third quarter of the year (Q3’20). The survey also noted that lenders expect to tighten the conditions for which loans are given to borrowers (loan covenant) in the next quarter (Q4’20). Nigeria records 133 new virus cases, 3 more deaths
Nigeria on Tuesday recorded 133 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total number of infections in the country to 62, 224. Three more deaths were also recorded, taking the total fatalities from the disease to 1,135. This is according to an update by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday night. The 113 new cases were reported from 12 states. These are Lagos (51), FCT (15), Plateau (11), Kaduna (8), Oyo (8), Rivers (8), Ogun (4), Edo (2), Imo (2), Kwara (2), Delta (1), Kano (1).
