Governor Umahi: Another lockdown likely to defeat coronavirus

Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi has stated there may be another lockdown if Nigeria is to defeat coronavirus. He stated this during a live broadcast to residents on Wednesday. He attributed the increasing cases of the virus in the state to the easing of the lockdown, especially in Lagos. Archbishop Martins tells Nigerian government to allow herbal remedies for coronavirus

YouTube Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins of the Catholic Archdiocese of Lagos has appealed to the Federal Government to allow traditional medicine practitioners to use local herbs and roots as a cure for COVID-19. Martins made the appeal during a news conference held at the Holy Cross Cathedral hall in Lagos on Wednesday ahead of the commemoration of the forthcoming 54th World Communications Day. NMA: Eight doctors test positive for coronavirus in Zamfara

No fewer than eight doctors are confirmed to have tested positive to coronavirus disease in Zamfara, the state’s branch of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) has said. The NMA Vice-Chairman in the state, Dr Mannir Bature, made the disclosure during a chat with journalists in Gusau on Wednesday. He said: “Out of about 80 confirmed cases recorded so far in the state, 10 per cent are doctors who came into contact with the virus in the line of duty while trying to save lives, especially at emergencies. “We are however happy to note that out of the number, sixty per cent have been discharged from hospital while the remaining are fast responding to treatment,” he said. MTN Zambia Invests $9.8 Million in Network Upgrade Operation

MTN Zambia has announced that it will be investing $9.8 million to boost network capacity and enable high-speed data services on 337 3G and 4G (LTE) network sites across Zambia. The site-by-site technical roll-out, which focuses on areas with the highest demand pressure, started in the Copperbelt northern regions followed by Lusaka. MTN says its customers will experience the benefits of the increased capacity immediately and that the upgrade is expected to finalise in August. The improvements are done by adding additional carriers on existing 3G and 4G network sites and upgrading current 3G sites to 4G. Customs intercept N13 million bales of clothes on train

File Photo The Nigeria Customs Service, Oyo/Osun Area Command, has made a total seizure of 180 bales of second hand clothes from a train operated by the Nigerian Railway Corporation with a total Duty Paid Value of N13,252,311. The Area Controller, Oyo/Osun Command, Helen Uche-Ngozi, disclosed this during a press conference at the Command’s headquarters in Ibadan on Tuesday. Uche-Ngozi said, “During our anti-smuggling activities of March and April 2020, the Command made a seizure of 310 drums of 100 litres each and 180 kegs of 25 litres each of Premium Motor Spirit, otherwise called petrol, at different points and axis of the Command. “They will be auctioned and the proceeds will be remitted accordingly.
