Gary Neville sends Super League message to Leeds players ahead of Liverpool clash

Leeds United host Liverpool this evening and fans will be looking forward to another cracker following the 4-3 thriller both teams played out on the first day of the campaign. While the Elland Road outfit have more than just bragging rights to play for, same cannot be said of the Reds. Liverpool risk missing out on a top-four finish should they fail to win at Leeds, and while that should deal a huge blow on their chances of playing Champions League football next term, the Reds will not be utterly concerned. The Anfield giants have joined five other Premier League clubs to form the European Super League alongside the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan, pulling out of the UEFA competitions. Manchester United legend Gary Neville is seething as...

Mbappe at the double to help PSG cut gap on leaders Lille

It was a great weekend for PSG in Ligue 1; seeing Lille draw on Friday night, they managed to cut the gap on the league leaders to just one point. Lille could only muster up a 1-1 draw against Montpellier on Friday night and so put the chance into the hands of PSG to try and cut the gap at the top of the Ligue 1 table. It was touch and go in the game though and PSG nearly fell short and came close to getting only one point, but determination shone through and they managed to come through the game by just about beating St Etienne 3-2 thanks to a Mauro Icardi 95th minute winner. They fell behind to a Denis Bouanga 78th minute strike, but it took them only one minute to equalise through Kylian Mbappe, and he got his second eight minutes later via a penalty to put his team 2-1 up in the game. ...

Graeme Souness reacts to Tottenham’s decision to sack Jose Mourinho

Former Liverpool hero Graeme Souness has delivered his verdict on Tottenham Hotspur’s decision to sack Jose Mourinho on Monday. The Portuguese’s dismissal came in the wake of Spurs’ 2-2 draw with Everton at Goodison Park that inflicted another massive blow on the club’s hopes of securing the Premier League top-four finish. Mourinho came under scrutiny after his side spurned a half-time to end up 3-1 losers to his former employers Manchester United last week. The announcement of Tottenham’s decision to part company with the Special One arrived only hours after the club revealed their plan to join a controversial European Super League. Mourinho took managerial reins over from Mauricio Pochettino in November 2019 but has done little to improve the club’s Premier League status since then. The ...

‘He’s back’, ‘Great’: Some Man United fans praise £75,000-a-week star after Burnley win

A section of Manchester United fans expressed their delight over the performance of Mason Greenwood in the 3-1 Premier League win over Burnley. The Red Devils failed to find the back of the net in the first half, but they managed to break the deadlock in the 48th minute through Greenwood. Marcus Rashford’s pass fell into the path of the teenager after a brilliant dummy from Bruno Fernandes. The youngster capitalised to score for a third league game running. However, the joy was shortlived as the Clarets equalised just a couple of minutes later through James Tarkowski, who beat Harry Maguire to a header. It appeared that the Clarets would go unbeaten for a first straight meeting at Old Trafford, before Greenwood scored his second goal with a huge deflection in the 84th minute. Substitute Ed...

‘Great character’, ‘Thank you’: Some Arsenal fans react to 28-year-old’s performance vs Fulham

A selection of Arsenal fans on Twitter reacted to Mat Ryan’s late impact against Fulham in the Premier League which contributed to the equalising goal. The Gunners had a tough derby against the Cottagers, and they were denied a goal before the interval for a tight offside decision adjudged by VAR. The Cottagers scored against the run of play in the 59th minute via the penalty spot. The Gunners could consider themselves unfortunate, given there was little to no contact from Gabriel Magalhaes on Mario Lemina. They managed to get something out of the game in the final seconds of stoppage time as Eddie Nketiah scored from a rebound of a Dani Ceballos shot. The chance was created by Ryan, who produced a lovely flicked header for Ceballos. That pleased some of the faithful, and here are a few re...

‘So happy for him’: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praises £75,000-a-week star after Burnley win

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was pleased for Mason Greenwood as he continued his fine run of form with a brace against Burnley in the Premier League. The Red Devils secured a 3-1 victory over the Clarets on Sunday, and Greenwood played a key part by bagging the first two goals for the club. The 19-year-old went through a lean patch earlier this season, but he has excelled since the back end of March with regular goal contributions. He has now netted five goals alongside one assist from his last six matches, and Solskjaer was delighted for the club graduate after yesterday’s triumph. He told Manutd.com: “He’s a good goalscorer, we know that. I thought the goal he scored against Tottenham shows that he’s worked on his game because he can go inside or outside and score, so h...

The Nigeria international has now netted 10 goals in his previous seven appearances for the club. In the same point of time, Vardy has struggled to find his scoring boots, but has produced some valuable assists. He provided a lovely pass for Iheanacho, who scored in his second attempt after his initial shot was blocked by Jan Vestergaard.
