Report: Newcastle United boss keen on signing wantaway Celtic midfielder

Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce is keen on signing Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham on loan for the rest of the season, Sky Sports News reports. The 24-year-old has made only seven league starts for the Hoops and has fallen out-of-favour under manager Neil Lennon as the season has progressed. The midfielder was denied a move to Brest last summer and it is now claimed that he could leave the club before the winter transfer deadline. Bruce is keen on bolstering the Magpies’ midfield options and he recently acknowledged the club’s interest in signing Hamza Choudhury from Leicester City. Ntcham has been identified as another potential loan target, but it is reported that the Hoops would ideally prefer a buy option included in any temporary deal. SportLens view: The Magpies ended a dreadfu...

‘Excellent’, ‘Outstanding’ – Some Newcastle fans drool over 26-yr-old’s display against Everton

Newcastle United picked up a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Everton in the Premier League earlier today. Steve Bruce was under pressure to guide his side back to winning ways and he will be delighted with the performance of his players. Everton were the favourites heading into the game but the Toffees struggled to cope with Newcastle’s drive and determination throughout the 90 minutes. There were several impressive performances across the pitch but Miguel Almiron was arguably the best player alongside Callum Wilson. Wilson will take the headlines because of his brace but Almiron was outstanding creatively. #nufc’s Miguel Almirón created the most chances (3) vs Everton. Also made the second most attacking third passes (16) & ball recoveries (9). The freedom to roam the pitch in this numbe...

‘Really poor’ – Some Man Utd fans are unhappy with 23-yr-old’s display against Arsenal

Manchester United were held to a goalless draw against Arsenal in the Premier League earlier tonight and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will feel that his side should have won the game. The Old Trafford outfit had their fair share of chances but the likes of Edinson Cavani failed to convert. The Red Devils have been let down by their attack in the recent weeks with Anthony Martial failing to deliver against Sheffield United and this time it was Marcus Rashford who struggled step up. Rashford has been criticised for his form this season and the England international was anonymous once again. The striker was sloppy in possession and his decision making was off against Arsenal. The 23-year-old will have to improve his end product if he wants to play as a starter for a club of United’s stature. Rashford...

Report: Serie A giants will look to sign Manchester United defender permanently for £15m

AC Milan are looking at the prospect of signing Manchester United’s Diogo Dalot on a permanent deal this summer, The Sun reports. The versatile full-back joined the Rossoneri on a season-long loan last summer and he has turned out 17 times for the club in all competitions. He has been a regular starter in Europe, but when it comes to the Serie A games he has largely acted as the deputy to Davide Calabria and Theo Hernandez. The Serie A giants have been impressed with the displays of the Portuguese and The Sun claims that they are hoping to sign him permanently at the end of the season. Dalot is also keen on staying with the Rossoneri and he is open to extending his temporary deal or signing a long-term contract with the Milan side. SportLens view: Dalot has not started regularly for the Ro...

‘Outstanding’: Some Newcastle fans drool over player who ‘looked quality’ vs Everton

Callum Wilson scored twice as Newcastle United earned all three points against Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday. The Newcastle star’s efforts helped to relieve the pressure on manager Steve Bruce who came under strong criticism from the Magpies fans after a disastrous run of form. Along with Wilson, the likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Miguel Almiron, and Issac Hayden were equally superb for the Magpies. Javier Manquillo was also excellent. Many Newcastle fans seem impressed with the performance of Jamal Lewis, with some claiming it was his best performance since joining the club in the summer transfer window. The 23-year-old left-back, who joined the Magpies from Norwich for a reported fee of £15 million, has cut a hugely frustrating figure this season. However, Lewi...

‘Happy days’ – Hammers co-owner reacts as Everton suffer loss against Bruce’s men

Everton suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Newcastle United at Goodison Park today, remaining in seventh place in the Premier League table as a result. Hammers co-owner David Gold was left delighted with Newcastle’s victory over Everton as it ensured that his side remained in fifth place, and he took to Twitter to react thus to the result: Newcasle beat Everton at Goodison Park 2-0 to keep West Ham in sixth place above Tottenham, Everton, Chelsea and Arsenal. Report: Liverpool want defender Mourinho once dubbed ‘a monster’, enquiries made

According to The Athletic, Liverpool are looking at a loan signing or a free transfer as manager Jurgen Klopp looks to bolster his defence ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, and sources close to West Ham United centre-back Issa Diop claim that they have enquired about the French defender. However, the Hammers are not likely to sanction a loan for the £20 million-rated defender should the Reds come calling, unless it came with an obligation to buy. Sportslens View Liverpool were dealt a massive blow during the week following injuries to Fabinho and Joel Matip, and they are now left with Jordan Henderson, Rhys Williams and Nat Phillips as their only options at centre-back. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez could both remain out of action for the rest of the campaign as they recover from their ...

Coping without Kane: A few systems Tottenham Hotspur could use in the absence of their star striker

It is that time of year again. We are in January, and Harry Kane has picked up another injury. This time, it doesn’t appear to be so bad – the England international is only expected to miss a few weeks of action as opposed to a number of months. But, with the football coming thick and fast, Spurs’ star striker could miss over eight matches, including key Premier League clashes against Chelsea and Manchester City where Tottenham’s fading title aspirations might face a final test. With the league’s top-provider out, José Mourinho’s counterattacking brand of football is under serious threat, as this might affect Son Heung-min’s performances too considering the fact that the South Korean international has combined with Kane for 13 of his side’s 34 goals, benefitting on nine occasions. So,...

Journalist: £120k-per-week Everton star set to leave the club, personal terms agreed

Popular football journalist and transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, has claimed that Everton winger Bernard is set to join Al-Nasr. The 28-year-old – who is on £120k-per-week deal at Goodison Park – has already agreed personal terms with Al-Nasr. It looks increasingly likely that he will leave the Merseyside club before Monday’s transfer deadline day. Bernard was linked with a move to AS Roma, but Romano has confirmed on Twitter that negotiations between the Al-Nard and Everton are in place to complete the deal. Bernard has a contract at the club till 2022, and Everton are likely to demand a fee of around £9m-10m for the winger. Al-Nasr are now in advanced talks with Everton to sign Bernard. Personal terms agreed, negotiations on between the two clubs in order to complete the deal....

According to Sportsmail, Tottenham Hotspur right-back Serge Aurier is now fighting to save his career at the North London club following an outburst during mid-week’s 3-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool. Spurs found themselves trailing 1-0 to the visitors on the stroke of half-time, with the Ivory Coast international failing to properly mark Sadio Mane before the cross that led to the goal. Aurier stormed out of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of the restart after boss Jose Mourinho withdrew him during the interval, leaving teammates shocked at his reaction, and that could now put his future at the club in jeopardy. Sportslens View The 28-year-old has less than 18 months left on his current contract, and it does not appear that an extension is forthcoming from the look of things. His ...

‘Liverpool’s best player’ – Some Tottenham fans slam 29-yr-old’s performance last night

Tottenham Hotspur were beaten by Liverpool 3-1 in the Premier League last night and the fans will be disappointed with some of the performances from their players. The home side conceded three poor goals which could have been easily avoided. Even Jose Mourinho blamed the defeat on individual mistakes at the end of the game. Spurs defender Matt Doherty put on a disappointing display for his side and the fans took to social media to criticise his performance after the match. The 29-year-old defender played as a left-sided full-back and kept giving the ball away during the first half. He was clumsy with the ball and that led to numerous counter-attacks from Liverpool. When he was switched to the right-hand side in the second half, he failed to raise his performance levels and was on...
