According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the wish of RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner is to join Liverpool this summer or remain with the Bundesliga club till next summer before revisiting the matter. The Germany international has three years left on his current contract, with a different release clause that can be activated at the end of each of the next three summers. Werner is available for £54 million this summer, £36 million in the summer of 2021 and £22 million in 2022. Ornstein reveals that each clause is active from the start of each summer transfer window and expires on June 15 of every year. The representatives of the 24-year-old have spoken with Barcelona, Chelsea and Manchester United, but a personal talk with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has convinced him beyond any doubt t...

George Caulkin delivers update on whether Ashley would renegotiate NUFC deal

One of the most frustrating aspects of the Newcastle United takeover saga is that everyone has been kept in the dark. The Newcastle United fans are hopeful that the deal will eventually go through, but there are obstacles on the way. With every passing week, we’re getting fresh updates on the takeover saga, but we are yet to receive any concrete information from the reliable journalists. Even the most reliable George Caulkin of The Athletic, has claimed that he’s hopeful because that’s what he has been told by the buying parties. Mike Ashley being Mike Ashley has been in hermit mode, and has remained tight-lipped throughout the entire episode, so much so that Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has claimed recently that he doesn’t know what’s going on at the club, and is only keeping...

Report: Ligue 1 side eyeing move for Celtic star as manager eyes reunion

According to le10sport, Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice are still very much keen on Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham and will look to lure him to France this summer. The manager of the French side Patrick Vieira worked with the 24-year-old at Manchester City when he took charge of the academy in 2013, and he is eyeing a reunion. Valencia, AS Roma and Sporting Lisbon were all reportedly interested in securing the services of the Hoops star in January after his impressive displays in the group stage of the Europa League, and it appears more suitors will emerge this summer. Ntcham expressed a readiness to leave Celtic and the Scottish Premiership for a more challenging league last summer in order to boost his chances of playing for the French national team, and it remains to be seen if he still ...

Caulkin delivers positive update on when NUFC takeover announcement could be made

Despite some journalists making bold claims that the Newcastle United takeover would be completed by 1st May, we now can see that it is far from reality. That doesn’t mean that the deal is off the table. Reliable journalists like George Caulkin are making the point that the deal is in the advanced stage, and it only requires the approval of the Premier League. It is taking time (more than usual) but the potential owners are hopeful of a positive outcome. The political resistance to the Saudi Arabia-based consortium buying Newcastle from current owner Mike Ashley is well documented, while there is the long-standing problem of piracy. Amidst all this, the Premier League are expected to make twin decisions, both being equally important. With football in the UK currently postponed and despite ...

Report: Lille have offered Spurs their goalkeeper, midfielder and £72m striker

According to Soccer Link, Lille are looking to sell some of their most-prized assets this summer and have offered the trio of goalkeeper Mike Maignan, midfielder Boubakary Soumare and striker Victor Osimhen to Tottenham Hotspur. The Sporting Director of the French club Luis Campos is good friends with Spurs boss Jose Mourinho and is hoping the Portuguese will be keen on buying any or all of the trio. Lille have slapped a huge asking price on Osimhen, claiming that an English side have already offered £72 million for his signature in a bid to drive his fees up. It’s the same tactic they used last summer prior to selling Nicolas Pépé to Arsenal and they are hoping it will force Tottenham and other suitors into action. The North London giants want to boost their striking department this summe...

Blow for Arsenal, unhappy star pushing for summer move

Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira wants to leave the club and return to Italy this summer. According to the Uruguayan’s agent, the 24-year-old is ready to head back to Serie A after two years in English football. The combative midfielder has made 83 appearances for the Gunners in all competitions, but he has failed to produce his best form on a consistent basis. With Arsenal being strongly linked with a move for Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey, it appears that Torreira’s time in the Premier League is coming to an end. “Lucas had been in a bit of a bad mood over some technical differences, then he recovered,” his agent Pablo Bentancur said. “And the injury arrived, fortunately less serious than expected. “Today he is completely recovered, I believe he will be a market man. “I will have t...

Chelsea star ‘can’t close doors to other sides’, but dismisses Tottenham links

Chelsea forward Willian says that rumours of him negotiating a transfer to Tottenham Hotspur are false. The 31-year-old’s current deal runs out this summer and he has been widely tipped to move on. The Brazilian has been strongly linked with Spurs, with manager Jose Mourinho said to be eager to reunite with the player. However, Willian says that reports he has already held talks with the former Chelsea boss are wide of the mark. “When I saw that news, I was surprised – I said ‘where did people get this from?’” he told globesporte.com. “Because I didn’t even talk to him on the phone, and I didn’t meet him either, because I didn’t leave the house. “So, this news is not really true. I didn’t meet him. Of course, I have a good friendship with him, sometimes we chat. “But really, lately I haven...

Spanish club ‘confident’ that Chelsea player will sign this summer

Ethan Ampadu could be on his way out of Chelsea on a permanent basis this summer. The midfielder has had a frustrating loan spell at RB Leipzig this term, making just seven appearances for the German club. He had previously looked to be one of Chelsea’s most promising youngsters, but has failed to establish himself at Leipzig. However, TodoFichajes has claimed that the 19-year-old’s progress has been closely followed by Sevilla and they are ready to make a move. The club’s director of football, Monchi, has been tracking Ampadu and is keen to secure his services during the next transfer window. Many pundits have argued that Ampadu’s decision to move to Germany has backfired, but the Wales international believes that viewpoint is unfair. In a recent interview with The Athletic, Ampadu said t...

Report claims Everton are in pole position to sign 29-yr-old Ancelotti target

Everton have been linked with the Napoli midfielder Allan for a while now. It appears that they are now leading the chase for the Brazilian. As per journalist Emanuele Cammaroto (via Sportwitness), the Toffees are in pole position to complete the signing. Allan has worked with Carlo Ancelotti before and the duo shared a good relationship during their time together at Napoli. It will be interesting to see if Ancelotti can bring the 29-year-old midfielder to Goodison Park this summer. Everton could use a midfield controller like Allan and he could prove to be a superb signing for them. Allan knows Ancelotti’s style of play well and he will help his teammates execute the Italian’s gameplay better. Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot has been linked with a move away from the club this summer. As per Tuttojuve (via Sportwitness), Everton have now been in contact with the Italian giants regarding a move. Apparently, the player’s mother has also been in touch with the Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti. Rabiot has struggled to fit in at Juventus and the Italian outfit are ready to sell him for €20m. It will be interesting to see if Everton make an offer for the player. During his time at PSG, the Frenchman was regarded as a top talent and the reported asking price seems reasonable for a player of his ability. However, Rabiot’s development seems to have stalled and Ancelotti will have to get the best out of the player if Everton sign him. The 25-year-old midfielder needs to regain his confidence...

BBC pundit backs player for Leeds United transfer

Noel Whelan has told Football Insider that Tottenham Hotspur central defender Juan Foyth would be a good signing for Leeds United in the summer transfer window. The former Leeds striker, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, has outlined why the 22-year-old Argentina international centre-back would make Marcelo Bielsa’s side better. Whelan told Football Insider:  “Foyth from Tottenham, Bielsa and Pochettino both were asking and talking about him at the time to try get him on loan. “At the time I think Tottenham needed him because of their right-back situation, suspensions and injuries to their centre-halves, because they started playing three at the back halfway through the season, he was required there. “He’s someone that Marcelo Bielsa has asked about on numerous occasions ...
