WarnerMedia is officially dipping its toes into the live sports business with streaming service HBO Max. HBO Max has signed an eight-year, $200 million USD deal with the U.S. Soccer Federation. The deal will allow TNT/TBS and HBO Max to air 20 U.S. Women’s and Men’s National Team matches annually starting in 2023. According to The Hollywood Reporter of those matches will be able to be streamed on HBO Max and air on TV with the rest exclusive to the streaming platform. In addition to the airing exclusive, the deal gives way for digital and highlight rights for Turner Sports Bleacher Report and additional programming including behind-the-scenes docuseries. Now, a piece of basketball history is making its way to auction as one of the memorable sports memorabilia pieces to date. The ball up for auction comes from a game the former president played in front of wounded warriors and members of the White House’s mentoring program. The NFL and insights platform Nielsen teamed up to survey how many people tuned into this year’s Super Bowl LVI and found that an estimated 208 million-plus viewers were watching the game. Back in early February, reports have stated that the recent Championship game is the most-watched show in five years since Super Bowl LI in 2017. Diving into the data, about two-thirds of North America watched as the Los Angeles Rams came out on top with 23-20 against the Cincinnati Bengals although 25% more than the 167 million unique viewers claimed to watch at least one minute of the game.
