Tottenham Hotspur have finally agreed a deal to sign Cristian Romero, according to Argentinian football journalist Cesar Luis Merlo. What a brilliant signing the 23-year-old will be for Tottenham. €55 million (£47 million) is outstanding value for someone who will surely go on to become one of the very best centre-backs in the game. Tottenham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was desperate to bolster his central defensive ranks with Toby Alderweireld leaving the club. Cristian Romero a sensational addition for Tottenham In 31 Serie A outings during a loan spell with Atalanta last season, Romero averaged two tackles, 3.1 interceptions and 2.2 clearances per game. He also won an average of 3.6 aerial duels per match during those appearances. The South American is also very comfortable with the b...

‘Improved massively’: Some Wolves fans react to 24-year-old’s heroics on international duty

A selection of Wolverhampton Wanderers fans reacted on Twitter after Rafa Mir’s heroics for Spain in the Olympic Games quarter-final against Ivory Coast. La Roja trailed after just 10 minutes into their last-eight clash after Eric Bailly bundled the ball into the back of the net from a corner. Dani Olmo brought them level at the half-an-hour mark. The scores remained the same at the interval after some top-class saves from Unai Simon. In the second half, Mikel Oyarzabal scored with a lovely volley, but the goal was ruled out for offside in the build-up play. In stoppage time, Max Gradel appeared to have bagged the winner for Ivory Coast, but La Roja made a sensational comeback. Everton scouting 24-yr-old defender who will cost around €40m this summer

Everton are thought to be keen on signing the Atletico Mineiro defender Guilherme Arana this summer. According to a report from Torcedores, the Premier League side are currently scouting the 24-year-old defender at the Olympics. Arana has been a part of Brazil’s squad for the Olympics this summer. Apparently, the player caught the attention of Everton with his performances last season. The Toffees could definitely use more depth in the left-back position and the Brazilian could be a quality backup option to Lucas Digne. The Frenchman has been excellent since his move to Everton but he needs more support and Arana could prove to be a smart investment for the Merseyside outfit. A potential move to the Premier League could be a tempting proposition for Arana. Apparently, Atletico Mineiro have...

Reported West Ham and Aston Villa target could now be available for £35m

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has been linked with the likes of West Ham United and Aston Villa in recent weeks. Apparently, the 23-year-old striker was valued at £40 million by the Blues but Chelsea are now prepared to reduce their asking price because of the current state of the transfer market. The majority of clubs are operating with limited resources because of the financial impact of the Coronavirus pandemic and the Premier League giants could lower Abraham’s asking price to £35 million. The report from Sun further states that the Hammers are open to paying a fee of around £30 million for the 12 goal striker. Both West Ham and Villa could use attacking reinforcements this summer and bringing in someone like Abraham could prove to be smart business. Dean Smith needs someone to support...

Arsene Wenger makes managerial decision amid Switzerland interest

Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will turn down a potential return to management with Switzerland, The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath reports. The 71-year-old has been out of management since leaving the Premier League giants in 2018 after a hugely successful stint of 22 years. Over the past two years, he has been working with FIFA as their chief of global football development while also being involved as a TV pundit. He has been linked with a return to coaching on several occasions, and it has recently been reported that Switzerland could make an approach. The Swiss had an impressive Euro 2020 under Vladimir Petkovic as they reached their first-ever quarter-final after beating competition favourites France. After seven years, Petkovic has moved on to become the new head coach of Bordea...

Liverpool are now in the race to sign Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli according to a report from Gazzetta dello Sport (print edition, July 30th, page 28). Japan Expands Coronavirus State of Emergency During Olympic Games

As coronavirus cases continue to rise at an alarming rate in Japan, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga expanded emergency measures already in place in Tokyo to four additional regions, Associated Press reports. The new areas under the state of emergency are Saitama, Kanagawa, Chiba and Osaka. As the center of the Olympic Games, Tokyo has been placed under strict rules, including banning spectators at the Olympic events. The newly-included prefectures will be under a state of emergency until Monday, August 31. The expansion of the pre-existing state of emergency comes as Tokyo has reported an uptick in cases for three continuous days. On Thursday, 3,865 new cases were reported and there were an additional 3,300 cases on Friday. According to AP, officials have claimed that the surge is n...

Trent Alexander-Arnold has signed a new long-term contract at Liverpool, the club have confirmed via their official website. The Englishman built on his early success and was soon a key part of Jurgen Klopp’s side, featuring ten times in the Reds’ run to the Champions League final in 2018. His performances earned him a place in Gareth Southgate’s squad for the World Cup in Russia, featuring once against Belgium in the group stage. European club set to sign long-term Arsenal target for just €6m upfront – report

Lyon are on the cusp of landing the signature of Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana, French publication L’Equipe claims. The Cameroon international is currently under a FIFA-imposed ban after mistakenly taking a medical drug that was deemed illegal. His suspension was recently reduced from 12 to nine months, but he can’t return to competitive action until November 4. However, he can be involved in team training two months earlier, and it appears that Lyon are set to win the race for his services. Premier League club Arsenal have been long-term admirers, and it appeared last month that they were favourites to sign him. Bernd Leno’s presence has probably proved a roadblock, and Onana is now on the verge of joining Les Gones on a cut-price deal. Ajax were looking for €8 million for Onana, who has en...

However, if you are going to use this Paddy Power promo code on the outright winner in the PL, it’s worth following all transfer moves throughout August. Unfortunately for Liverpool, the club could be set to miss out on their pursuit of AC Milan star Franck Kessie as the saga involving the player’s future took a new twist on Friday. There has been a breakthrough in negotiations between Milan and Kessie over the midfielder’s contract extension, Gazzetta dello Sport reports. The Ivory Coast international has less than a year left to run on his current deal at the San Siro, with the parties trying to negotiate an extension for months. A...

Arsenal should avoid £42.5m playmaker and sign 24-year-old star

Arsenal will head into the upcoming Premier League season eager to prove they can still mix it with the big boys. Four FA Cup successes in the last eight years have failed to mask the fact that the Gunners have slipped off the pace in the league. They won their last title in 2003/04 and haven’t finished higher than fifth in the table over the past five seasons. Two successive eighth-place finishes have left the fans feeling frustrated, and the pressure is on manager Mikel Arteta to turn things around. Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares are a promising start to this summer’s transfer business, while Ben White’s addition should help to shore up the defence. The news that Granit Xhaka may be offered a new contract is not as daft as it seems, particularly given the improvement he showed las...
