Southampton are looking to bolster their defence this summer.  According to reports from The Hampshire Live, the Saints are looking to strengthen in four key areas this summer, and adding depth in the full-back areas is one of Ralph Hasenhuttl’s top priorities. He has demanded the club provide him with more depth and quality ahead of the new season. The report claims that Southampton are looking to bolster the left-back, right-back, wide-midfield and forward region in the summer transfer window, but the Saints are operating on a tight budget. An expert from the article: “Elsewhere, Saints are interested in a number of other full-back options with Hasenhuttl likely to use one of his two Premier League loan spots to provide Walker-Peters and Perraud, should Saints land him, wi...

West Ham fail with approach to sign Liverpool target with 46 goal contributions – report

Red Bull Salzburg striker Patson Daka has snubbed the opportunity to join West Ham United, Football Insider reports. The Hammers are searching for a new striker this summer, and they were recently deemed favourites to sign Daka. However, the 22-year-old has the ambition of joining a higher profile club and has rejected the prospect of joining David Moyes’ side. The Zambia international has also rejected advances from Ligue 1 giants Monaco despite them qualifying for the Champions League. Sportslens view: Daka had a superb 2020/21 campaign for Salzburg, registering 34 goals and 12 assists from just 42 appearances in all competitions. He is likely to be on the radar of several elite European clubs, particularly after the success of former teammate Erling Braut Haaland. Haaland switched from ...

Alan Shearer drools over 25-yr-old Leeds star’s performance against Croatia

England managed to pick up a narrow 1-0 win over Croatia in the European Championships and Raheem Sterling scored the match-winning goal for the Three Lions. Gareth Southgate’s men seemed in reasonable control throughout the contest despite not managing to put up a spectacular performance. However, some of the individual displays certainly caught the attention. Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling put on a splendid display for his country. Another player who managed to deliver an outstanding performance for England yesterday was the Leeds United midfielder, Kalvin Phillips. The 25-year-old harassed the Croatian midfield with his relentless pressing throughout the game. Phillips was excellent defensively as well and he managed to shield the back four expertly. Furthermore, the m...

All Euro 2020 nation crests redesigned, for the modern era

National team crests are just different from their club counterparts. Both are an integral part of the team’s history, and both are definitely tattooed on many of the fans. However, in the past decade or so, most national team crests have already been updated and bought into the modern era of design. National team crests also seem to be simpler and have less elements than their club counterparts. That being said, I did find some ways to further simplify them. In some cases through minor changes without removing elements. It was also interesting to note how similar some of the crests can be to each other. For example Scotland, Netherlands & Wales all feature a roaring majestic lion or dragon. Or how Sweden and Finland, both nordic countries, feature their flags on a shield. I have tried...

‘Best so far’ – Chris Sutton & some WHUFC fans react to goal from Hammers man

West Ham United forward Andriy Yarmolenko scored a worldie last night as Ukraine attempted a comeback against the Netherlands. His side were 2-0 down in the second-half of their European Championship opener, but the Hammers man gave them hope. Ukraine drew level minutes later but eventually lost 3-2, and will need to pick up points from their next two group games um have a chance of advancing to the knockout stages. Despite the Netherlands’ victory, Yarmolenko’s wonder-strike from outside the box was the highlight of the match. 🚀 Will there be a better goal than THIS Andriy Yarmolenko golazo in the first round of games?@GazpromFootball | #EUROGOTR | #EURO2020 pic.twitter.com/9hoOxy8wcH — UEFA EURO 2020 (@EURO2020) June 13, 2021 BBC pundit and former Chelsea striker Chris Sutton was...

Everton are yet to appoint their new manager, but they are preparing the groundwork for the upcoming season.  The Toffees are close to appointing Nuno Espirito Santo as their new manager following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti. Sky Sports reported last week that the Portuguese boss is close to being appointed as Ancelotti’s successor at Goodison Park. The Merseyside club are hopeful of finalising a deal for the 47-year-old manager in the coming days. His arrival at the club could see Everton being linked with a host of Wolverhampton Wanderers players this summer. According to reports from Football Insider, Everton are preparing to submit bids for Wolves duo – centre-back Conor Coady and winger Pedro Neto. Nuno highly rates the two players highly and he feels the duo would be perfec...

UEFA confirmed after the game that the Inter Milan player’s condition had stabilised, sparking a collective sigh of relief across the football world. Players must learn from Eriksen incident The medical staff, players on both teams and the supporters deserve a ton of credit for their respective reactions to Eriksen’s collapse. ‘It was annoying’ – Euro 2020 star reacts to what Rangers did to him

Wolfsburg defender Kevin Mbabu spent the second half of 2014-15 on loan at Rangers while at Newcastle United but did not make a single first-team appearance for the Light Blues. The 26-year-old was never included in any of Rangers’ matchday squads and has revealed that it did hurt him. Mbabu will be playing in the Champions League with the Bundesliga side next term and has already caught the eye at Euro 2020. The Switzerland international put in an impressive shift during yesterday’s 1-1 draw against Wales and has reflected on his horror loan spell at Ibrox. “The club told me we had an opportunity with four others to go on loan to Rangers and help them to go back to the first division,” Mbabu told The Athletic. “I thought, ‘I need to play men’s football and get some experience’. I was happ...

PSG midfielder shines in enthralling fixture – Netherlands 3-2 Ukraine Player Ratings

Netherlands came out on top after a frantic second half in their opening game against Ukraine. Netherlands made an explosive start to the game, and will have been disappointed to not go into the break leading. Memphis Depay almost opened his account in the second minute, but was denied by Georgi Bushchan after a solo run. Bushchan had to be at his best again shortly after when Georginio Wijnaldum played Denzel Dumfries in on goal. Moments later, the roles were reversed, with Dumfries crossing to Wijnaldum. However, Paris Saint-Germain’s newest recruit could only fire over the crossbar. The former Liverpool man would continue to threaten, and had a powerful volley well saved by Bushchan after a small deflection. The best chance of the first half came five minutes before the break, and again...

€45m-rated attacker agrees to join Barcelona, announcement expected next week – report

Netherlands international Memphis Depay is set to complete his long-awaited move to Barcelona next week, Spanish outlet Sport claims. The Dutchman has been a long-term target for the Blaugrana, and he was fancied heavily to join them last summer before the move broke down. He will be a free agent when his contract with Lyon expires next month, and it is reported that the Blaugrana are set to land his signature. Georginio Wijnaldum recently made a surprise U-turn as he turned down advances from the Blaugrana to join Paris Saint-Germain for a higher salary. There have been fears that Depay could follow suit with interest from Juventus, but Sport claims that the Blaugrana have now sealed the deal. Depay’s contract offer has been reduced from three to two years with a higher salary than initia...
