Arsenal want young defender to stake his claim as Luiz’s replacement

Arsenal defender David Luiz is set to leave the club at the end of the season as we reported earlier with youngster William Saliba expected to replace him in the squad. The Brazilian will depart after spending two seasons at the Emirates with his contract expiring at the end of June. Saliba has been on loan at Nice since January and has put in some impressive performances. The youngster is expected to be given a chance during pre-season to put forth his case. Mikel Arteta wants the 20-year-old to compete against Rob Holding for the right centre back spot. The club are reportedly keen on streamlining the squad by reducing the number of central defenders. Apart from Inter Milan, who have already won the Serie A title, Atalanta, AC Milan, Napoli and dethroned Juventus are embroiled in a tense top-four race. There are only six points left to play for, while only three currently separate the teams in the Serie A table, with Cristiano Ronaldo and co arguably in the worst position heading into the season finale. Will Inter inflict further damage on Juventus? Inter may not settle for just stealing the Serie A title away from Juventus as they have the opportunity to harm their chances of landing a top-four finish. Andrea Pirlo’s future in Turin is hanging in the balance as the newly-crowned champions arrive at t...

‘Sell him’, ‘Lazy recruit’ – Some Spurs fans react to Euro giants’ interest in 24-yr-old ace

Real Madrid are thought to be interested in signing the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele. The 24-year-old has been quite impressive for the London club this season and it will be interesting to see if the Premier League side are willing to sanction his departure in the summer. The Frenchman has managed to adapt to English football after a mixed first season and he has a big future ahead of himself. Ndombele is only just starting to show his true qualities and selling him now would be quite surprising. According to Football Insider, the Spanish side have a strong interest in the Spurs midfielder and they have already made an approach for ...

Journalist confirms Liverpool are ‘very interested’ in signing 39-goal star

Liverpool are reportedly keen on signing the Paris Saint-Germain attacker Kylian Mbappe. According to the reliable French journalist Mohamed Bouhafsi (via GFFN), the Premier League side are ‘very interested’ in signing the World Cup winner and they will face competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid. Mbappe has established himself as one of the best players in world football and he would be a sensational addition to Jurgen Klopp’s attack. However, it remains to be seen whether the Premier League side can afford the PSG superstar. The Reds would have to pay a club-record fee to sign the French international and it would be fair to assume that they would have to sell either Sadio Mane or Mohamed Salah to fund the transfer. Furthermore, Liverpool are yet to confirm their participation in th...

The Bundesliga star can operate in a number of roles across the midfield and he would be a superb long term addition to the side. Sab...

Alan Shearer’s three-word reaction as Steve Bruce pips Leeds boss to award

Newcastle United head coach has emerged as April’s Premier League manager of the month after guiding his side to two wins and two victories last month. The Magpies picked up eight points which proved enough in eventually steering them to safety, and not many would have seen them impressing against the calibre of opposition they faced. Newcastle started the month with a 2-2 draw against Tottenham Hotspur before securing impressive wins over Burnley and West Ham United. The St. James’ Park outfit ended April with a 1-1 draw with Liverpool, and they are now set to play Premier League football next season after March’s relegation scare. Newcastle boss pipped Leeds United’s Marcelo Bielsa, Manchester United’s Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and West Bromwich Albion’s Sam Allardyce to the gong, and former ...

La Liga Preview: Barcelona remain hopeful but title likely to stay in Madrid

The penultimate matchday of the 2020/21 La Liga season beckons with some spicy fixtures at both ends of the table. The keenly-contested race with two matchdays remaining leaves almost no room for dropped points as four sides can mathematically win the title. Real Madrid remain firmly in contention after a 4-1 thumping of Granada on Thursday kept them within two points of leaders Atletico Madrid. Following back-to-back draws with Atletico and Levante, Barcelona are lagging four points behind Los Colchenors and are probably out of the race. Even though the prospect of Sevilla winning the race looks far-fetched, the Andalusian giants are still sniffing around the ultimate prize. Meanwhile, the relegation battle rolls on. A thin five-point gap separates the bottom six, with basement boys Eibar...
