On the road to a fully electric future, Volvo has revealed its latest EV: the Volvo EX90. The vehicle, which is a true seven-seater SUV, marks the first of several electric cars that Volvo will release on an annual basis. The vehicle will arrive with a four-wheel, dual-motor powertrain, capable of producing a combined 402 horsepower and 568 pound-feet of torque in the base model. Meanwhile, the Twin Motor Performance version will reach 496 horsepower and 671 pound-feet of torque. The company estimates that the former model will accelerate to 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, while the latter will reach the same speed in 4.7 seconds. When Mercedes-Benz commissioned Andy Warhol for a series of Cars paintings and prints that celebrated their 100th anniversary in 1986, Warhol took his initial inspiration from the 1955 300 SL Gullwing, a slender coupe that got its name from its “winged” doors. Now, Sotheby’s is auctioning off the exact Gullwing — confirmed by its registration number, documents and a full inspection from Mercedes-Benz’s classics arm — that Warhol used as inspiration for the series, some of the final pieces he worked on before his death in 1987. One of only 1,400 Gullwings ever made, this model was painstakingly restored to its original specifications by Brabus, an effort that took 4,500 hours of labor. On October 29, it was reported that 150 people embarked on the world’s longest train, journeying through a 25 km stretch around the Swiss Alps from Preda to Alvaneu in southeast Switzerland. Celebrating the 175th anniversary of Switzerland’s first railway, the country’s railway operators came together to create the new Guinness World Record-holding train which tows 100 carriages, weighs 2,990 tons, and measures 1.91 km (1.19 miles) long. The trip runs over the UNESCO Heritage Albula Line, known for its expansive curves and steep downhills. Ferrari has officially unveiled its all-new 499P LMH (Le Mans Hypercar) prototype set to compete in the 2023 World Endurance Championship (WEC). The name 499P follows a naming tradition dating back to Ferrari’s early days whereby the 499 represents the displacement of its six-cylinder engine in cubic centimeters and the “P” stands for prototype. With the last Ferrari Le Mans WEC race being in 1972, it will be the first time in 50 years that the automaker’s motorsports division will participate in the highest class of endurance racing. As the new DeLorean Motor Company introduces its vision of the future, including its Alpha5 sportscar set to hit the roads by 2024, another DeLorean company named DeLorean Next Generation Motors now appears. The DNG Motors company was created by Kat DeLorean, the daughter of the legendary John Z. DeLorean who gave birth to the DMC 12. Citing that the newly-formed DeLorean Motor Company has no affiliation or alignment with her father’s vision, she looks to introduce a new car model named “Model JZD” named after her dad. The project will return to Motor City, beginning assembly January 2023 in Detroit, Michigan with plans to reveal the car by December of that year. While the Suzuki Jimny has already established a large cult following, many enthusiasts have always voiced their desire for an open-roof version. Following that modification spirit that is often associated with the Suzuki Jimny, YiChe Garage took it upon itself to see what a convertible Jimny would involve. Carving out its place in the electric vehicle world, Lotus has now introduced the “Lotus Eletre R.” Pushed as a hyper all-electric SUV, the striking new model from the British automotive name features 893 horsepower and 726 pound-feet of torque. Incredibly, the Eletre can go 0-to-62 mph in just three seconds and has a top speed of 165 mph.
