Pit One Covers a Porsche 911 in the World’s Blackest Paint

Japanese auto shop, Pit One Customs, has completely covered a Porsche 911 in Musou Black, the world’s blackest water-based acrylic paint said to absorb 99.4% of visible light. Koyo Orient’s Musou Black is said to be darker than the Vantablack paint infamously used on BMW’s X6 Coupé back in 2019, making it quite possibly the darkest car in the world. Pit One worked with Koyo Orient to help paint the car to ensure the best outcome possible. While the unrivaled black hues don’t make the car incognito by any means, the car does seem disorienting to look at, as the contours are nullified. For the closer look video below, Pit One made sure to check with local authorities before taking the 911 out for a spin. Unlike Vantablack which does not distribute to private individua...

Ford Forced to Recall 100,000 Hybrid Cars Due to Concerns Over Fire Risk

Taking a big hit to the brand’s reputation, Ford has now had to recall 100,000 hybrid vehicles due to concerns of engine fire risk. The recall affects both the American automaker’s Escape and Maverick models, as well as the Lincoln Corsair, produced between 2020 and 2022, all of which run on hybrid powertrains. According to Ford, if an engine suddenly fails, the vehicle could release a high amount of engine oil and fuel vapor, combining together to create a fire under the hood or even melt internal components if the substances get too close to the car’s ignition sources. The company added that the problems now are caused by isolated manufacturing issues, and so far there have been no reports of injuries or accidents caused by the issue it has found prior to the recall. Alas, the Phaeton did not go out quietly, as Volkswagen has just revealed that it made a concept car dubbed the Phaeton D2. Open Road: Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing

With each era comes a car that defines the times. These particular cars do more than just transport us from one destination to another; heightening emotions, conjuring up nostalgia, filling us with adrenaline, joy, and lust. In this respect, nothing comes close to the Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing. Open Road has featured many supercars, but none have the pedigree of the Gullwing. The car’s origins can be traced back to race wins, which saw the Mercedes-Benz 300SL (W 194) of 1952 place second in the grueling 1,600-kilometre Mille Miglia race. After that, the road-going 300SL Gullwing was born. Just 1,400 examples were built between 1954 and 1957, becoming the first car to bear the SL (for “Super Light”) designation, and it was arguably the world’s first proper supercar. While Bugatti had mad...
