Volkswagen has now unveiled its first fully-electric sedan, giving automotive enthusiasts a preview of what’s to come. Named the “ID. AERO,” the new concept model will be making its way stateside as well as to the European and Chinese markets in the beginning of 2023. While the automaker hasn’t unveiled exactly how much power output the car will have, it did say that it’ll utilize the MEB Platform shared by other ID family models and carry a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that can provide roughly 620 km or 385 miles of range. Formula E unveiled its all-electric Gen3 racing car in April, announcing it as the “world’s first race car designed and optimized specifically for street racing.” Engineers and sustainability experts at FIA and Formula E collaborated on the vehicle to make it the fastest Formula E car, with a top speed of 200 miles per hour (322 kph). The 2021 model was first registered in Sweden in December 2020 and has two previous owners, one of which was the Koenigsegg founder. The Polestar 5 is now slated to make its public debut at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed and the electric vehicle maker has now revealed that the highly-anticipated model will be receiving a brand new powertrain pushing out a whopping 884 horsepower. To complement the car’s “unique bonded aluminum chassis,” Polestar has designed a new powertrain that’s currently under development in Sweden, where the automaker’s sibling company Volvo resides. The setup will consist of two motors, with the one at the rear tapping into an 800-Volt architecture. Speaking at Bloomberg’s Qatar Economic Forum on Tuesday, the CEO predicted that a recession would take place in the United States sometime soon, Reuters reported. To further its efforts in increasing sustainability and reducing carbon emissions, legislators in the European Commission recently proposed a target to cut all CO2 emissions from new cars starting from 2035, effectively banning the production and sale of new internal combustion engine vehicles. However, it now seems that the law will be met with strong resistance, with Germany expressing a refusal to agree with the proposed regulation.
